Satilla took the opening that Fray showed and used it. She did not close in on her opponent this time. Instead, she patiently waited while collecting mana for her spell.
Since most Familiars cannot talk, the way they do spells is by absorbing mana from the atmosphere, which normal Streia cannot do.
If a Streia were to absorb mana from the atmosphere and bend it to their will, they would collapse inside out, resulting in a brutal and unsightly death.
She opened her mouth; blue mana concentrated around her mouth, forming a ball.
Fray glanced at Satilla.
The Dire Wolf shot its spell while howling.
The man didn't move.
Due to his good luck, the mana blast suddenly redirected its course and missed Fray by a hair's breadth.
"That's cu-"
He was not able to finish his sentence. Not with a fist in his face, at least. Tatsuya took that opportunity to give his opponent the jump.
His fist slid off of Fray's face.
The boy did not give up his assault.
Several swift punches before finishing it with a kick.
"Bingo."
Tatsuya breathed.
The man had collapsed in front of the classroom door.
"It's finally over..."
Tatsuya sighed.
"I'm not so sure about that..."
"..."
"What's with that... face?"
Fray was still conscious. Tatsuya was disgruntled as he slowly watched the man's body rise. He figured that either he was used to being hit like that or his good luck saved him. Perhaps even both.
"I was hoping that would knock you out. I mean, I hit you hard a couple of times and kicked you once, all with a Buff spell on. Yet, you're still conscious."
"I don't go down ea-easy."
The red-haired man swayed for a second.
"Seems like it affected you."
"Yeah... Seems like it did..."
The boy noticed something. It was Fray's sudden withdrawal attitude. He could see the man break into a cold sweat.
There was only one thing that could concern Fray currently. His luck.
"Your luck... It ran out, didn't it?"
Tatsuya foolishly asked.
Fray reacted by shaking.
The boy took action immediately. He started by giving all of his mana (not all, but he only left an amount which keeps him standing) to Satilla.
Something he has never done before.
The Dire Wolf's fur suddenly started to grow larger. Along with its fur, the Dire Wolf itself grew larger. Before it was the size of a horse, however, now it was slightly taller than a Sabertooth.
Its snow-white eyes peered through Fray.
The man rummaged through his pocket.
"Go, Satilla! Before he's able to gain luck again!"
The Dire Wolf bent its whole body. It was ready to pounce. Once it had enough power to pounce, it did so uniformly.
Fray spun the wheel, though, it was too late.
Before either of them knew it, a chunk of Fray's side had been taken off.
The Dire Wolf turned around and glared at Fray.
"Man... I didn't think I'd have such bad luck..."
He said, looking at his wheel. The wheel landed on the black side.
The man collapsed onto the floor.
"Oi! Oi!"
The boy ran over and crouched over Fray. He held his head up.
Though he needed to beat his opponent, he didn't want to kill him.
To check his pulse, Tatsuya put his finger on his neck. He felt a pulse, but it was faint. Fray would die if nothing happened.
"Uh, what do I do?!"
He ruffled his hair.
"I need to get him to the nurse's office! Kumari-san is bound to be there! Okay, I need to get th-"
There was a sharp crunch noise.
The head of Fray was gone. Only a bloody mess was left in its position.
He felt like spewing his guts inside out, but he did his best to hold it in.
The Dire Wolf merrily enjoyed its meal of Fray.
"Satilla! What are you doing?! We could've saved him! Why are you-"
Out of frustration, Satilla whipped his away with her tail. He hit his back hard against a desk, causing his sealed disgust to reveal its form. He vomited.
"What... I didn't mean to... kill him..."
Tatsuya lifted his head, languidly. He watched as his Familiar ate the rest of the corpse on the floor.
As soon as it finished, it regained its original form and disappeared as Tatsuya's mana couldn't handle a Familiar.
"Tatsuya..."
He heard a soft voice speak.
By the door was Emika, who should've still been with Anastasia.
"Emika... What're you doing here?"
The boy could barely speak. He didn't want to kill Fray. He had no intention to. However, his Familiar suddenly changed after his full infusion of mana. It shouldn't have been any different from the mana that the Familiar takes to stay in the physical world.
Tatsuya was shaken.
"I... came here since Anastasia told me to get out of her way. She told me to come to you, but..."
Emika walked over and looked at the blood on the floor.
"What I saw Satilla do was..."
Just remembering was enough to give her the urge to puke.
"Yeah, no need to tell me. It's a first for me too."
Tatsuya tried to form a smile but it ended up being filled with sadness.
The girl walked up to Tatsuya. She sat down next to him, trying to not look at the blood.
"Where's Anastasia?"
"She's two doors to the left, in the hallway."
"Two doors to the left... That's the Summoning classroom. What could she be doing there?"
Emika thought back on her previous experience with the silver-haired boy.
"I think..."
Tatsuya turned to her.
"She's trying to limit his possibilities..."
She said.
"Huh?"
--
"You know, girl, you are very smart."
Argent started.
"Thanks."
Anastasia smiled.
"You went to a room and put up an anti-mana barrier. I cannot use my Spiritual Magic here. You can still use your Singularity since Singularities are not directly linked with mana."
The boy gritted his teeth.
"Now, shall we..."
Anastasia stuck her hand out.
"Do as you please."
