Chereads / Highschool Attention / Chapter 3 - Three

Chapter 3 - Three

Hailey Winston.

"Who do you think you are? An untouchable God? Michael Jackson?" The girl yells at Cole but he doesn't flinch.

Wow, he's really tough.

"Look, rejecting you isn't a sin. I don't like you and that's final." He says with no emotion.

Poor girl! Her friend pulls her hand they leave the music room and probably head to the bathroom. Isn't that where heartbroken girls go?

My thoughts are short-lived because some sense comes back at that moment, I'm the only girl in the room.

What if they find me? Won't they think I'm throwing myself at them too?

Ofcourse my fears come true this exact moment, my phone decides to ring. My phone never rings, it's either muted or in vibration mode. I forgot to mute it in the morning because it's been thirty days since I last did it.

Sure enough, one of the guys looks around and finds me behind the Grand piano fiddling with my phone to stop ringing.

Why would Hayden call me? He never does!

I look up embarrassed and look at the guy, Collins Rivers. He is Cole's twin, they are everything similar only that Cole has a diastema and the other doesn't.

I shyly wave at him

"Hi" I say hoping he leaves me alone.

"Hi? What the fuck are you doing here? Are you with those two sluts?" He says with an accusing look while pointing his pinky finger at me.

"Whoa, what makes you think so? Do I look like a slut?" I ask annoyed.

"You look like their professional minion or photographer."

When I throw a glare at him and remain transfixed in my position, he sighs and asks again.

Meanwhile I've been thinking of a lie to defend me from these Offlimits boys before things get out of hand.

"What are you doing here?" He asks again.

"Ummm I was hiding." Wow Hailey, really?

Are you a kid? Hiding?

"Hiding from what?" He asks again but this time, his group has already made their way to the grand piano.

It scares me so much to see them up-close, and even if none of them has ever been involved in violence, I don't feel secure.

There's a first time for everything you know.

"Hello, are you gonna keep quiet now?" He asks again but this time he's angry like the first time.

Lies lies, how dare you abandon me right now? You always flow freely like a river, what happened?

"My bullies. I am hiding from my bullies." I say shaking.

"You're being bullied? Why?" He asks but he's not angry anymore.

Thank you lies, I owe you a Starbucks.

"Dude, that's a dumb question! " The colorful boy Elvis Cyan answers instead.

"Where have you been hiding before because I'm pretty sure I've never seen you here before!" The other twin, Cole asks.

So this is their hangout place? No wonder we never see them in hallways!

"Ummm library. But they found out and uhh now I can't hide there anymore?" I say it as if it's a question.

The lies are coming out so fluently and I'm scared I may even start lying where it's not necessary.

Nevertheless, as long as it gets me out of this, I'll never show my face to the Offlimits.

Never!

"Well, she can hang out here as long as she doesn't make noise and doesn't tell anyone we let her hang out here." The leader says.

That's Decker for you, rules! He rules!

The boys leave me alone and I decide to text Hayden to check what he wanted.

To Hayden.

Why are you calling?

After hitting send, my phone vibrates immediately indicating an incoming text.

From Tamika

Where the hell are you?

To Tamika

I'm getting my locker repaired, don't worry I've eaten.

I hope Tamika gets convinced and I wait for Hayden's reply.

From Hayden

I'm back from college, when can I pick you up?

All the anger and fear I felt before dissolves when I read Hayden's text.

He's back from College! My best and only big brother is back from college!

Hayden is twenty years and he's attending a college in Canada while the rest of us still live in Montana. Being my only brother, he knows so much about me than he' s supposed to.

Not when my friends look at him like an idol and tell him everything that happens.

He used to go to school here before college and was the valedictorian. He never once got a grade below an A+, his CGPA was a perfect 5.0, never 4.9.

So he's known here, and if he comes back even my friends forget about me.

I don't mind though, I don't like fame or associating with him or using his name. I instead tell people it's a coincidence we share a name.

I don't need a famous name I can't even live up to, my grades can't live up to Hayden's.

My other siblings is four years old, little Hanova. She's a bundle of joy and everyone likes her.

"Hey, it's like fifteen minutes to the beginning of the next period. I think you should get going." The other member I haven't talked about says as he stands next to the piano.

Leaky Sharpe, he's sharp. Always has something to say, has a sharp jawline, is more scarier than the rest except Decker the lead ofcourse.

His eyes change color, that's what girls say. Sometimes they are really grey, and other times they are totally brown. Whether he's a vampire or an alien, it's not my business.

"Sure, I should get going" I say as I stand up. Then I add

"Thanks for letting me stay."

"Don't mention it, though we wouldn't appreciate you being here next time. Look for a better hiding place."

Rude much?

Anyway I leave the room as fast as I can and when I finally get to breathe, I sigh out loud.

I almost got into trouble because of my curiosity.

I I'll tame myself.

There won't be a next time.

Or will there be?
