'I've being crying a lot, haven't I?'. Fred blinked when he heard Diva's chuckle. He almost hissed at the time he beheld her wiping at her moist face. He wanted to tell her that she looked beautiful even when she cried, but how could he tell her that?. He was not going to give her the license to shedding more tears.
Fred took out his handkerchief from his pocket and handed it out to Diva, she took it with a smile.
Turning the ignition on, he let the tyres roll gently on the tarred road before speeding through once Diva was done getting her face dried. He won't blame her for thinking that she was looking hideous with her damp face and swollen eyes when he had stared on her more than he should. He had just glanced at her side after buckling himself into his seat, to make sure she was alright, but ended up gazing. Now, he regreted it.
Diva, leaning back to the seat after she had bared her face of the remnant of the tears with the handkerchief Fred generously gave to her, looked out of the tinted window into the backwards moving shops, fences, houses, storey buildings, plazas. They were a perfect picturesque. She wished she had her camera with her.
Though she was away from home in another continent, she was glad she was in another environment where she got to experience new things; new culture, new traditions, new languages, new dressings, new taste of delicious meals. She pondered a little on the tinted windows.
Not for the tint, she would have been able to see more clearly, the roads and surroundings and not as they were with a purple hue. Something within her kept telling her there was more to her father's secrecy than she knew. Like an underworld she suspects Fred to part of too.
The single road they were driving through had divided into a four roads spilt with them entering into a right bend with other cars in front and behind. It was a major road with a pedestrian lane in the middle to demarcate between two lanes of cars going backwards and some, forward, when viewed from her perspective. The other two lanes were the ones in the adjacent direction of the road their car had come out through and the one they had left. The former road was wide but it could not be compared to this one in size. Diva almost 'gee' at the multide of cars ahead of them that were now clustered due to the traffic lights.
The car had once again rentered another road that Dive recognised to be the street that leads to her house The speed Fred was using, reduced and she almost thought they were entering the gates-- wait!, was Fred not banned from coming to their hoise until he meets the condition of her father?. He parked at the side. Yeah, he could not have forgotten.
She watched him turn off the ignition.
Fred had his fingers wrapped around the key and the other hand on the steering wheel. His head was bent and he could feel the slight tightness at one side of his chest. He could feel the warm blood that rushed in his viens towards his heart. The goosebumps that curled on his skin. The sweat beads that formed on his forehead. He removed his hold from the key and rubbed his hand on his trousers, as his palms got watery,
From the corner of his eyes he could see Diva looking keenly at him. She was sure to be expecting an explanation for the recent happening, but he was too anxiouis to even look at her.
Forcing himself, his body and will, he turned to her and let the words leave his mouth. 'I promised a talk with you'.
