A maid brought a tray of two glasses of orange juice and a bowl of cookies and placed it on the table between Diva and Dawin before slightly bowing out of the patio.
Dawin, still attentive to the story Diva was telling him took out a glass and another and handed one to Diva. The latter cupped it in receive and took sips of the content before keeping it on the table.
'Thanks'. She said in gratitude as she licked the remnant off her lips. Dawin nodded, gesturing for her to continue.
'A paper ball hit me and when I opened it, it was a threat telling me I would be the next.
Dawin took his time to analyze Diva's eyes--- he saw fear. Were his eyes deceiving him?. He blinked and looked again--- still fear. Diva was sacred because of a threat?.
He knew her-- more than most of them-- he was certain about it. Diva being afraid because of a single threat was completely preposterous.
The Diva he knew was never intimidated or frightened by the mention of a threat. Why would she be scared, when her father's protection and that of the royal guards were constant?. Was she so fearful, because she was in another country entirely? Or was her fear linked to her mother's death?.
No one knew she was still struggling with herself apart from him and her father. No one other than them knew-- at least she did not lament in the public. She had quit crying notwithstanding the quiet times she had to ponder and recollect memories.
If only he knew what happened today he would not have jumped to such conclusions?.
Dawin kept his gaze on her. He could not believe it still, that Diva's fear sprung from the inhumane murder of her mother. There was no threat or pre-announcement before her life was taken. It was a shocking, unexpected event. It is more likely that the fear she was currently having, had thrived from an experience other than the tragedic event.
Diva shifted in her chair when she felt Dawin's heavy gaze. God, what's up with all these piercing gazes?.
Like she had asked Fred earlier, she did to him. 'Is there anything in my face?'. Once again like Fred, Dawin only came to hear her question when she wiped at her face.
'Yes, a drop of juice here..and....here'. He answered as he poked her cheek and her head. Diva slapped his hand away.
Dawin was just joking but her hand still reached for the places he had poked. She heard his light chuckle and saw him downing his drink.
Diva was still checking out the places he had touched when Dawin revealed a piece of shocking news. 'My father is planning a war against the Sapphire Kingdom. A few days ago, he sent a warning message to them, asking them to prepare for the war and bring forth their strongest men'.
Diva's eyes just stayed on it, unwaveringly.
Come to think of it, he had said that his father traveled to their Kingdom which made him unable to attend today's classes as he had to take his place in their company's meeting. His dad was starting a war with another Kingdom known to be the most peaceful and coldest Kingdom. A Kingdom blessed with everything nature and--- cold. They were scarce of weaponry, fighting tactics, and swordsmen. If Dawin's father was moving to capture, where would that place them now? Her father and her Kingdom, a weak and vulnerable set of people who have no plans to stay in power?.
Despite them being friends from childhood, his father never accepted them- she and her father. Though he never acted against their friendship which was like a joining of two kingdoms, Gold and Amethyst, he never showed interest in any events of her Kingdom. Never attended any parties or events. He was too 'busy' to attend her mother's funeral. Her father accepted Dawin the first day he saw him, but his dad cared less.
She took her glass and drank from it. Her father ought to hear of this.
