Whatever it was Dawin was saying, Diva, paid no heed as her mind was deeply occupied by the profound disclosure. She was looking at him fervently like her eyes could envision the future. She was no Prophetess but every discerning person would have gathered the pieces and fallen them in places.
Now they are away from the Kingdom, everyone will think they are running from the duties that come with the crown. In the meantime, no one outside the palace knew they are in a foreign place, but sooner or later, words will spread. Many of the inhabitants of the Kingdom will protest against them and demand their removal, especially if it is was because of her. They will all think she has developed a mental problem that resulted in them hiding.
She took a cookie from the bowl as Dawin held it in her direction. He was done talking, she observed.
The change in weather made Dawin change his mind about staying longer at the mansion. A cold breeze beat at the trees making them howl. The swimming pool displayed tons of ripples and Diva was compelled to escort Dawin to the front of the house.
She waved him farewell and stayed outside by the entrance watching him hop on his bike and hook his hamlet. The bike rode off, lightening the path it took.
Betrayal. A part of her kept hinting at the possibility of betraying her friendship with Dawin if she in any way reported what he told her to her father. At this point, she did not care. Not because she was insensitive, but because this has to do with one of her father's allies. Her father alongside King Frederick were very good friends. How could she risk a more than thirty years friendship for a barely eighteen years friendship?.
That is the sacrifice she has to make. She has to do away with their friendship for the good of her kingdom. Every dedicated royal would do so.
As she stepped into the mansion, memories rushed inside her. Her memories, mainly good, of Dawin. Their fun moments, their happy moments, their awesome moments, together. She halted at the side and leaned on the wall--- this was the weak part of her trying to stop her. She knew it. It was indirectly telling her that she would regret it if eventually, she tells her father.
The memories she saw were intriguing and very enticing. Diva felt her will shaking a little. This was the 'anti' part of her, fighting for acceptance, but she did not want to admit it. It was telling her the truth. The things she would throw to the wind if she decides to act, against Dawin and his Kingdom. Telling her father means getting involved in the war, it reminded her.
He would not just sit still and do nothing when his friend is being attacked and forced to battle. He would help. This was more like using her friend's words against him. Making him do what he hated the most-- wars.
She too won't deny it. Her father was very precious to her, there was a possibility of him not coming back from the war. He was getting old-- forget the part where he looked younger than his age-- and it's been long since he last fought. At least since the time she was able to spell her names, he was never involved in or with any war. None she could remember.
She should not do it. She should be lip-sealed. If the Sapphire Kingdom is indeed under siege, they would alert her father and possibly ask for his help in the war. If they don't, then who was she to act all concerned, when the latter Kingdom wants to fight all by themselves.
She left the wall and continued walking. Maybe she was just being overreactive. But before reaching the entrance to the sitting room, a thought came to mind.
Dawin told her. Yes, he did. Regardless of his knowledge of the alliance between the Sapphire Kingdom and her kingdom, Amethyst, he did. Was he expecting her to tell her father?. He had heard her saying she would give up anything for the kingdom. Did he know that their friendship was at stake once he let her know?. Did he know the risk he was taking?. Was he indirectly telling her to save Sapphire's kingdom?.
