Lily laughed when she saw that Alona was already with a man at the restaurant where Catherine's birthday party was held. She then stepped onto the restaurant balcony to take some fresh air. Being with too many people made Lily feel like all her energy was drained away. Even if it's just for small talk.
Lily stood on the balcony staring at the city lights shining in front of her. She took a deep breath while imagining that she was with Matthew. Suddenly, when she was silent, someone stood next to her and greeted her. "Isn't it beautiful?"
"Excuse me?" Lily turned to the person standing next to her.
The man standing next to Lily turned around and smiled at Lily. "I wonder who suddenly left the party. It's getting hot inside."
Lily laughed softly at the man's words. "I don't really like a party. I'm just accompanying a friend."
"And when she's found someone interesting, she'll leave you alone?" said the man standing next to Lily.
"I left her so she could have fun," Lily said.
"You are a good friend." The man then held out his hand to Lily. "Ryan."
"Lily." Lily looked at the hand of the man who reached out to her. She is then shaking out his hand.
"I'm a friend of Catherine. We both work as sports promoters," explained Ryan.
Lily nodded her head. "I'm just a geek who always spends my time in the lab."
"Are you a researcher?"
"I already told you. I'm just a geek."
"What did you learn?"
Lily shrugged. "How to wake a hibernating bear, maybe?"
Ryan laughed after hearing Lily's words. "For a geek, you're quite fun, Lily."
"Thank you," said Lily.
----
Alona was silent while chuckling when she saw Lily, who was on the restaurant balcony and was talking to a man. "See? Who just already met a handsome man?" she whispered.
"Who are you talking about?" asked the man with Alona.
Alona turned back to the man who was with her. "I'm talking about my friend. Looks like she's having fun out there."
The man turned towards the balcony. He then laughed softly. "Ryan has finally found someone that catches his eye."
"Ryan?" asked Alona.
The man nodded his head. "Yeah, it's Ryan. He works in the same company as Catherine. Earlier I saw him being surrounded by Catherine's other friends. But it seems that he chose to leave because what was interesting was outside."
Alona laughed softly. "How about you?"
"I wouldn't be here if nothing caught my eye. And this woman in front of me has caught my attention. Since she stepped into the restaurant," the man replied, looking at Alona.
"Your words make me blush, Alex," said Alona.
Alex caressed Alona's cheek. He then whispered in Alona's ear. "We can return to my hotel after this party is over."
Alona raised her eyebrow. "Is that an invitation for me?"
"I want to chat with you a little longer. We can spend the rest of our night together," Alex replied.
"Then, I gladly accept your invitation," said Alona.
"Would you like to dance with me? The music has already started." Alex held out his hand to Alona.
"With pleasure." Alona took Alex's hand, and they immediately stepped onto the dance floor.
----
Ryan chuckled when he heard music playing from inside the restaurant. He then asked Lily. "You don't want to dance?"
Lily immediately shook her head. "I don't want to hurt anyone's leg. I'd rather be here. If you want to dance, I'm fine. Maybe I'll be gone soon."
"Then I'd better stay here and spend my time here," Ryan said.
"Why did you go out?"
Ryan took a deep breath. "It's too stifling inside. Tired of serving them all. And it turns out that I have no regrets for deciding to leave." Ryan smiled as he looked at Lily.
But Lily didn't notice Ryan's gaze and chose to look the other way. There was someone else on her mind at the moment. "Have you ever felt love at first sight?" Lily asked Ryan.
"I'm feeling it right now." Ryan didn't take his eyes off Lily.
Lily immediately turned to Ryan. "What does it mean?"
"You asked if I had ever felt love at first sight. And I replied that right now, I was feeling it. Ever since I saw you, I couldn't take my eyes off you," Ryan said.
Lily blushed unconsciously. Then she lowered her head and laughed softly. "You're joking too much, Ryan."
"I am, Lily," Ryan said. "Yeah, maybe you're just taking this as a joke. But I'm not." He continued to stare at Lily until she turned her gaze back.
"Looks like it's time for me to leave this party," said Lily.
"Wait." Ryan pulled Lily, who was about to leave him.
Lily turned back. "What is it?"
"How can I contact you?"
"You'll know how if you like me." Lily smiled at Ryan's words. Slowly she let go of Ryan's hand.
"If I could contact you, would you mind having dinner?"
Lily played with her eyeballs. "I'll consider it. As a friend."
"As a friend is enough," said Ryan.
"Okay, then. Bye." Lily turned back and walked away, leaving Ryan.
Ryan took a deep breath when Lily had already walked away from him. He was determined to find out about Lily so they could meet again. Lily managed to pique his curiosity.
