Chapter 4 - Seeing From The Cold 3

"I found something interesting, Mr. Graff." Max walked briskly toward Mr. Graff while carrying a tab containing the report results of the research drug. He unconsciously banged on the door of Mr. Graff for getting too excited about the effects of their latest research.

Mr. Graff looked at Max through the round glasses he was wearing. "What made you rush like that?"

"This. take a look!" Max gave the tablet he had brought to Mr. Graff.

Mr. Graff accepted the tablet and immediately adjusted the position of his glasses. He then reads the data on the tablet. His expression turned serious when he saw the test results they had just carried out on a rabbit they had frozen five years ago.

"Looks like we're going to wake Matthew from his slumber soon," Max said impatiently. He had already imagined Lily's face when they finally woke Matthew.

"We still need some more testing," said Mr. Graff while returning Max's tablet.

"But the result is quite satisfactory, isn't it?" Max asked.

Mr. Graff nodded his head. "The results exceeded our previous expectations. A few more tests, and we'll be able to wake Matthew. Have you told Lily about this?"

Max shook his head. "I haven't told Lily yet."

"Let me tell him. I want this to surprise Lily's birthday," said Mr. Graff.

Max laughed softly. "Lily will be thrilled to hear this news."

Mr. Graff smiled too. Max knew the middle-aged man would retest the medicine formula he was developing. Mr. Graff then got up from the sofa he was sitting on and walked over to his desk. Seeing Mr. Graff was already sitting at his desk, Max didn't want to disturb him and immediately leave him alone.

As soon as Max left his room, Mr. Graff turned on his computer. He then looked at the situation in the storage room at his facility. He has been running the facility for almost thirty years. His hard work so far will finally succeed. So that it can be used by many people.

Lily lay on her bed and stared at the ceiling. She chuckled when she remembered her introduction to Ryan at Catherine's party. She thought Ryan was quite interesting. Although not as attractive as Matthew in the course. She was about to close her eyes when the ringing of her phone startled him.

"Who calls me late at night like this?" Lily said when she saw an unknown number dialing her cell phone number. She finally decided to reject the call and put her phone back next to the bed.

Lily then sighed softly and closed her eyes again. She had just put her phone down when it rang again. This time Lily chose to ignore it. She was exhausted and wanted to close her eyes.

She finally breathed a sigh of relief when the ringing of her phone stopped. But once again she couldn't close her eyes because her phone rang again. In annoyance, Lily let go of the pillow she hugged and returned to reach for her cell phone. She looked back at the unknown number calling him.

"Who's this?" Lily exclaimed when she finally answered the call from the unknown number.

"Sorry if I bothered you. This is Ryan," answered the other end of the phone.

Lily took a deep breath. "Seriously? Can't you call me tomorrow morning?"

Ryan laughed softly. "I just wanted to keep your promise that we'd have dinner together if I could call you."

"I will not break my promise. But you don't need to call me this late just to get an appointment," Lily said. "Wait, how do you know my contact?" She then fell silent.

"You have a good friend, Lily. She's happy to give me your phone number," Ryan replied.

"Shit, Alona. I'll put you in the cryonic tube tomorrow," Lily muttered. "Okay, now you can contact me. Anything else you want to say?"

"Nice to meet you, Lily. Hopefully, you won't block my number after this because I've been bothering you," Ryan said.

"I was considering blocking your number. You've prevented my sleep plans," said Lily.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't know you were ready for bed."

Lily sighed softly in response to Ryan's words. "This time, you are forgiven. Next time, I will completely block your number. I don't like someone disturbing my sleep."

"When do you have time? I will treat you to make amends for my mistakes tonight."

Lily was silent for a moment. "I have time this weekend."

"Okay. Where can I pick you up?"

Lily laughed softly. "So, after trying to get my number, now you're trying to find out where I live?"

Ryan muttered under his breath. "I'm not far from where you're living now."

Lily frowned. She then got up from her bed and went to her apartment bedroom window to see the street below. She moved back the curtain of the window and muttered under her breath. "Fuck, Alona. I will completely freeze you."

----

Ryan smiled when he saw Lily's window was slightly ajar. He then waved his hand at Lily. "Your friend is too kind. I don't even know how to thank her."

"Yes, she is an excellent friend," said Lily.

"So how? Can I pick you up tomorrow?" Ryan asked.

"Okay, fine. You can pick me up at 7 PM," Lily replied.

Ryan smiled when he heard Lily's answer. "Thank you, Lily."

"Can I sleep now?" Lily asked.

"Oh, sorry. You can sleep now," Ryan replied. "See you tomorrow night."

"Bye."

Ryan waved his hand again when Lily was about to close her bedroom window. He laughed as Lily smiled at him as she closed the curtains of her room. He waited under the window of Lily's room until the lights in her room went out.

As soon as the lights in Lily's room went out, Ryan immediately walked away from Lily's apartment and got into his car. He smiled as he started the car engine. "I'll get you, Lily." He then drove his car and left Lily's apartment.
