Chapter 25 - No, I Don't Have A System

5 hours later...

As they were busy picking up every item they could find within the titan lord's castle, Horu noticed that Blake was picking up items that had trash value as well. Curious, he asked. "Hey Blake, why are you picking up common grade and uncommon grade items? Don't you have the item appraisal skill??"

"Common grade items? Uncommon grade items? Item Appraisal Skill?? Har??" Taken aback by Horu's question, Blake turned around to face Horu with a bewildered expression.

"Uhm, what about Inventory? Please tell me you at least have an Inventory."

"I...still have no idea what you're talking about...I mean, I know the intermediate Identification magic spell - [Appraisal] and a branch of Space Magic, Storage Magic. I don't understand any of your terms." Blake smiled awkwardly.

"Then do you know the Status Screen Wandering Dragon had when he cleared the game, "When Dragons Roamed the Earth? The uhm...how do I explain what a system is to you?" When he saw Blake's clueless expression, Horu couldn't help but sucked in a breath of air as he racked his brains to try and find ways on how to explain what a system was to his target of protection and housemate.

"The status bar Wandering Dragon had? Sounds familiar..." Hand in chin, Blake carefully recalled every piece of information he had on the Wandering Dragon.

Wandering Dragon was a mysterious man who wandered the multiverse in search of excitement and strong opponents who he could contend with worry free.

Wandering Dragon's real name was Neoh Dragon. He was the first person to clear the VRMMO Online Cultivation game, When Dragons Roamed the Earth. The reward for clearing the game was a half baked system that could function without any inventory slots or a server.

Blake didn't know much about Neoh's system besides the fact that he powers up himself by traveling through worlds. Each new world he visited granted him experience points to level his talents and skills up.

But no matter how many worlds he visited, his realm couldn't improve further. He was thoroughly stuck at the peak of God realm for hundreds of thousands of years before he mysteriously disappeared. He was last seen hanging out with the Celestial Demon Ancestor, August before they both disappeared from the multiverse's view.

Just as he was recalling every piece of information about the Wandering Dragon, an explosion occurred right next to him.

BOOM!

But before he could enter into his battle stance, Horu declared it was a false alarm. Horu was testing out the skills his system had collected over the centuries. The skill he used to cause that explosion just now was [Smack Down - Lvl Max].

"This...Was that a system skill?" Blake asked.

"Yeah, this skill is called Smack Down. I can smack anything I aim down with such precision and force that I was banned from the Central Realms' Millenia Olympics Shot Putting event, hahaha!

Even if the target was moving 10 times faster than light, once I threw my shot at the target, the chances of the target being smacked down would be 100%! Then there was also a 75% chance of my target being knocked out upon being smacked down. Isn't this skill awesome?!" Horu explained with such enthusiasm that Blake was at a loss of words.

Blake felt helpless in this sort of situation since he had cultivated to his current strength without the use of external help like systems and the like.

It was great that Horu enjoyed using the skills given by his system, but it wasn't good to solely rely on the system to achieve great realms. After all, the strongest cultivators of the multiverse were beings who took it one step at a time.

"What? What's with that look?" Horu asked when he saw Blake sigh with a dejected expression.

"Oh no, it's nothing...I'm just worried about your foundation, that's all." Blake smiled wryly. "Since I now know you used your system to get to where you are now, your future seems bleak..."

"Hey hey hey! Don't curse me, damn it! What do you mean I used my system to get where I am now? I used my blood, sweat and tears to achieve the Void King realm! The system that I have here is merely a copy of an ancient relic used by the 1008 Ancestral Void Council Progenitor! Plus, to become an official member of the council, my foundation has to be solid enough to integrate my cultivation with the system's main server...else, how could I, a mere Abyssal Lord, be worthy of wielding an ancient relic from millions of years ago?!" Horu angrily replied.

He felt that he had been wronged but couldn't do anything about it since his friend barely has knowledge about the council and its systems.

"Alright, alright...chill the fuck down. I understand now, I really do. Okay? I wasn't cursing you on purpose...that was a misunderstanding." [Blake]

"Good! As long as you understand! Now, let's get back to looting this whole place!" [Horu]

And so, within another 3 hours, Blake and Horu had thoroughly cleaned out the titan lord's castle of any decent loot. Anything that Horu found useless in Blake's storage space was immediately taken out and separated into the trash items pile while Blake threw every decent or good item into Horu's Inventory. Pills, herbs, weapons, armor, everything was inspected and valued first before they went back home with their loot.

For a three week adventure here in Malkai's Tomb and the Labyrinth of Fallen Rings, the gains the two of them have harvested far exceed the time they've lost when exploring this dungeon. And among the most valuable loot the two have collected, perhaps just the memory of their adventure was already invaluable since this was also their last adventure together after returning home.

"Oh yeah, Horu...To your question back then, no, I don't have a system." [Blake]

"Hm? Go figure." [Horu]
