"Do you feel it Avy? That power, that fresh air, that freedom, this is how we're supposed to live, a life without restrictions, without boundaries, without being subjected by the society. Simply free." Breny said as she jumped through a hedge and what I saw next was breath taking.
"Wow..." Was all I could say.
I woke up from the same dream all over again. Since Berny took me to tha lake I never knew existed since that day I've been dreaming about it, about being wild and free, that was all I could think about.
Two Nights Ago...
"Wow..." I exclaimed at the out of earth view I was witnessing in front of me.
I could also feel Berny stare in amazement, we together gazed at the small waterfall gracefully flowing into a small peaceful lake as small fishes played at the surface.
With the trees standing high letting in fragments of sunlight softly kiss some parts of the lake and the ground around it, the moss was soft under our padded feet with weed flowers around making it looked like something out of a children's book.
"How did you know about this place Berny?" I asked still in awe.
"I don't know but one thing I know is that trusting the noes never goes wrong. Never." Berny said walking closer to the lake.
As Bre looked over the surface of the water, I could see the reflection of Bernessa's wolf over the water and she was beautiful, breathtaking, her beauty was really suited to be in such a magical lake.
She had this silver fur with hints of gold around the edges that made it look like she was glittering as the wind blew in her fur, she was majestic and strong and her eyes shown an emerald green.
"I know what you're thinking and you need to stop because that isn't just me, it's us. Both you and I together." Berny said.
"I know but Berny look at you, you're beautiful, you're confident, you're everything that I'm not and I can't help but envy you." I said trying to sink deeper into our mind.
"You know you've just said the dumbest thing I've ever heard right. I'm here today only because of you and I don't care how you feel about yourself, I'm always going to be there for you and I promise to protect you with my life... I mean our lives." Berny joked.
I laughed as I was finally able to rely on someone or an animal if I dare but still, she was my wolf.
We enjoyed the view for a few hours before we eventually got back to the edge of the forest where I was able to get back in my comfortable clothes.
I went back home feeling happy and satisfied with myself and the time I spent talking with Bernessa and getting to know her more.
Present Day...
The weekend was over and thankful after a few more weeks we were looking a full two month of summer holidays, all I had to get through these remaining weeks and with Breny it was literally in view.
This morning was the same as any other, except Dad insisted we have breakfast together again, but it wasn't something I dreaded like I use to, now I had something to brag about.
Come to think of it I haven't eaten home cooked meals in a while, Berny always craves junk food and it's not like I personally have a problem with that.
Anyways, I hadn't told mom about Berny yet since she woke up three day ago so I'm sure she'll be in for a surprise today.
I got ready early since I was in a very good mood.
"What's got you happy princess?" Berny asked.
"Well you see, I'm going to introduce you to our parents today." I said excitedly.
"Eh, aren't you scared that I'll mess up or say the wrong thing, I mean our parents... Will they love me?" Breny asked and for the first time in the past few day I felt her scared.
"You don't have to work, they've loved me for the past 17 years with no powers and no wolf, I'm sure they'll love you as much as I love you." I assured Breny.
We went down for breakfast with the family and to my surprise when I sat down not a word came out of Aspen, which was fine but weird.
"So?" Dad started getting our attention.
"Avy? Your brother tells me that you have something important to say." He continued.
No... Aspen did not just ruin my big moment, I snapped my neck towards Aspen who was eating like he didn't understand what was going on.
My breathing because uneasy and forced as I was trying to hold back every ounce of anger coursing through my blood.
"Avy?" Mom called making me snap my head back to her, I'm sure she felt the blood lust in my eyes because she stood up calming me down.
"Avy breath, breath, you're fine my darling, calm down." Mom said softly approaching me.
I watched her every move as my instincts were ready to pounce at anything I sensed as a threat. Slowly mom placed her hands on mine lifting them up, it was then I knew that my claws had digged into the wooden table.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and let it out again as everything went back to normal except the thick tension that clouded above us all.
I looked up at my Dad and saw that he was in a position to move if things didn't turn out right, I turned around and saw the fear written all over Aspen pale face.
I finally looked back at my Mom who gave me a warm smile, I was confused, why was I so angry, why did I almost lose control? Wait was it Berny?
"I don't feel so good Avy? What happened to us?" Berny asked, I felt our connection getting weak.
Something was interfering with our connection, I looked at my family again and ran back to my room, I heard my mom call out to my but I didn't answer, I've never been this way but I think it's safer to stay away from my family.
I stormed into my room and shut behind me and getting under my blanket, was I just about to hurt my family?
"Berny? What happened to us?" I asked my wolf.
"All I remember was that we were getting angry at that stupid brother of yours, after that my vision became cloudy and... and I don't remember much after that." Berny explained.
"Our claws and fangs were out, if mother didn't stop us than I don't know what I would have done to Aspen." I said slowly.
"What's happening to us Bernessa?" I asked as tears fell down my eyes.
"I don't know Avy but I don't like it." Berny said.
Before I could say anything else I heard a knock on the door of my room, I wasn't ready to face anyone right now so I said nothing.
"I know you're in there Avy and I'm coming in." Dad said opening my door.
"You should learn to lock your door.if you don't want anyone to get in." Dad said walking in.
"Why bother, you're just gonna use a snake to unlock the door." I said.
"Not quite, their fangs are rather delicate and I wouldn't want to render them defenseless but a defenseless snake is just as dangerous, do you understand sweetheart?" Dad explained.
I crawl out under my blanket and peaked my head at Dad, I did this a lot when I was younger and Dad would always be there.
"Was this the first time? Having these outbursts." Dad asked.
"Today." I replied simply. Dad let out a sigh of relief as he smiled at me patting my hair down.
"You'll be fine hunny, now why don't you come down and tell us your big announcement, I promise Aspen didn't tell me anything." Dad said standing up and stretching out his hand reassuring me.
I hesitated and I also felt Berny hesitation too, I didn't want to let her down and this was my family too, there's no way I could love them less, even Aspen.
I took Dad hand and walked back to the dining table, Mom had a worried look on her face and Aspen stiffened as both I and my Dad walked in.
Dad shook my shoulders reassuring me again as he took his seat, I looked at Mom who was already giving me a supportive smile as she mind linked me...
"I just hope you're not gay, I'll support you really but I would love grand-pups soon." I sudden question made me laugh and blush at the same time.
I shook my head to answer her question, I took a deep breath preparing both Berny and myself.
"Mom, Dad... Aspen..." I eyed my brother.
"... I would like you to meet someone special, and I hope you accept her the way you've loved and accepted me." I explained.
Mom had this blank look on her face for a moment before realization dawned on her, she looked at Dad with shock written all over her face.
"Everyone, meet Brenessa, My wolf."
