Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

*

The day went much faster and smoother than I had actually expected, probably because we were going into a weekend again.

I fiddled with my fingers in front of me out of habit because of the absence of my giant hoodie, according the Brenessa, we were supposed to give them a show before the school year ran out.

So I ended up in a black hello kitty top tucked into a denim jean skirt with a jagged edge just right above my knees and a pair of white sneakers, I let down my silvery hair to complete the look.

According to Brenessa; I literally was to die for, but not as literally though. Thankfully I got through the day with minimal interference if you count Mr Daniels as one.

Whenever I had a free period he would send for me and ask about mine and Bernessa's progress, I understand that he is a very curious man but it got creepy at some point.

After school I took out my earpiece and shoved them into my ears to block out the rest of the world and replace it with some relaxing tones.

"Oh... Put on something from those Korean dudes." Breny said.

"You mean BTS?" I said more as a correction than a question.

"Yeah sure, whatever. Play that fire song. I really like that one." What was I going to do with this wolf, she was more of a teenager than I was. This is what I get for letting her browse late nights.

I shook my head and smiled at her childishness as I played her favorite BTS song and continued the walk home.

"How about a run when we get home, that class was too stuffy for me, right?" Breny said as if trying to convince herself.

"You were asleep half the whole day!" I said back at her laughing.

"Whatever, I'm a wolf, I'm meant to be in fields, not in classes. Now about that run." Brenessa said finishing her little speech.

"Sure, whatever you say Luna." I said laughing without even knowing what I had just uttered.

"What?" Breny asked.

"What?" I asked just as confused.

"You just called me Luna? What's that about? Are you trying to tease me?" Breny said asking all at once.

"I- I don't know... Ah- Brenessa, my head hurts.. i- I can't-"

Immediately I felt a sharp pain in my head as I started seeing fragments from the dream I think I had last night.

'But- I thought~~~ that was a MYTH?'

"Well you thought the same about the MOON GODDESS too but Here We Are."

The memories came rushing back as I remembered everything from last night at once, my conversation with the moon goddess.

"Avy? Avy!!!" I could hear Brenessa calling but I barely had any control over my body and before I knew what was going on, I passed out.

I slowly blinked open my eyes as I felt pain in each and every part of my body, I also felt very heavy and stiff at the same time but I still tried to stand up.

There was ash and fire everywhere, I looked and the air was heavy with the stench of blood, I tried covering my nose from the metallic smell but fear engulfed the pit of my stomach when I realized that there was also blood on my hands too.

I screamed falling back to the ground as I tried rubbing off the dry blood from my hands, I rubbed my hands on the ground so hard that it started to bruise but I felt something more than dirt under my fingers.

Slowly, I pushed away the dirty from the area I was rubbing till I felt something, it felt like fur but I kept digging and underneath the dirt was a full grown wolf. Dead!

I could hear my heart beating louder and louder in my head as I stood up to actually take in my environment, everywhere I turned and as far as I could see, it looked like a war had just taken place and left a devastating after math.

I pushed myself to walk through the hills now flowing with the blood of different magical creatures both big and small.

It felt like I walked miles with nothing but dead bodied as a path, I knew none of these creatures but why did my heart feel so heavy on seeing them.

And from the corner of my eye I saw a little light float up into the air, one turned into a thousand and million rushed by me into the sky.

There was a figure there and it looked like it was collecting all the remaining magic from the creatures around. I heard screams of agony as the life left their bodies.

"Stop." I said trying to cover my ears from the sound.

"Stop!" I screamed and the figure collecting the magic stopped and looked at me.

Slowly it began to descend towards me, I could feel my instincts telling me to run but I was stuck in my tracks, it was dark and about the same height as me.

It looked like a girl from the dark shadow in which she was shrouded in  as she got closer. The air around us became dense as she stood in front of me with a smile and walked into my body knocking the air out of me.

It felt as if she was trying to take control of me but I wouldn't allow it, I fought, screamed, dragged, threw dirt but nothing was working and I felt myself felling numb and falling asleep.

No! She couldn't take cover me, Bernessa? Where are you? I can't fight this alone. Please...

"No!!!" I screamed lunching out of my bed.

I was drenched in sweat and tears fell out my eyes uncontrollably, I felt my body shaking all over as if I had a high fever, but most of all, I was scared.

Really Scared.

"Sweetheart, calm down. Daddy's here, you're fine... Nothing's going to hurt you my dear." Father said with a hand behind my back.

But for some reason I failed to recognize my own father and pushed him away running to the furthest corner of my room, holding my ears.

I could still smell the blood and hear the screams of life leaving those creatures. I knew none of them but they seemed to have died a gruesome death.

I felt like all my insides were going to be emptied out, but then there was a shadow over me, not as ominous as the one that entered me but it still got me scared.

Thankfully, whoever it was kept their distance, I was so distracted and breathing so hard, I also ignored Bernessa's attempt to calm me down.

"Bernessa, I don't know if you can hear me but I need her calm enough to give her a sedative to calm her down." I heard Father say but I completely ignored it still trying to hide.

For a brief moment... I felt.. disconnected from my mind and at the same time, I saw someone giving me an injection. Immediately my body felt relaxed and I heard words like...

Thank you... She's going to be fine now... It alright my dear...

And again I drifted into a dreamless sleep, with both my mind and my body relaxed.

Third Person's POV.

A few hours earlier before the departure of the Queen, the king had called his wife aside to discuss matters of the Kingdom and possibly the fate of their child.

"William... We've been together for 20 years... and you decided that now's the best time... to tell me... about a prophesy concerning our child?" Zivanka finally said pausing in her sentences.

"I'm very well aware and I'm sorry for hiding something really important from you. But I really thought I could avoid it, I really did." William apologized with regret behind his words.

"You're sorry? You're sorry! If you had told me sooner I would have gone back to the elders of my old pack for solutions to keep MY child alive and here you are apologizing without a solution." Zivanka was already a weeping mess now leaving William in his own pain and regret.

"We'll find a way, whatever it takes. We're going to keep our family and this kingdom safe. I swear on my life Zivanka."

The king said embracing his weeping wife, but the truth was that he had no idea or means to help or save their land from the impending doom that was slowly looming over their skys.
