Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

*

I could feel Berny shaking at the back of my mind, I could understand why she was so scared of rejection, but rejection from my family? I don't think that's going to be the case.

But after the joke Mom made, I felt Brenessa laugh and loosen up a bit for the first time this morning and I knew this was the right time to formally introduce her to her family.

"Everyone, meet Bernessa, My wolf." I finally said but Berny hesitated to come out.

"Bre, it's alright, I think you'll be great, and they'll probably love you more than me since you're obviously the better one." I said trying to encourage her.

She took a deep breath and slowly I sank into the comfort of my mind as Bre moved forward, it was all up to her now.

"Honey? Are you okay?" Dad asked softly when I didn't continue.

"Y-yeah... She's fine." Ber stuttered.

"She?" Dad asked.

"Hello Family umm... I'm Brenessa, Avy's wolf... And I woke up a few days ago and Avy though it would be a good idea to meet you all.... So.... Hey?" I smiled at Ber's confident attempt, the confidence that I admired so much in the past few days.

Unfortunately the table went into complete silence as we got stares from the family members, Mom stood up slowly, I watch her closely as she stood up, her hazel eyes turned blue which meant her wolf was out.

"My child? Is that you?" Kendra, my mother's wolf spoke.

"Mother? I- Is that you?" Bre asked and it was a beautiful scene of mother daughter reunion.

Father cleared his throat as he stood up approaching the two she wolves.

"I think it's best you kids stay home today... We have a lot to talk about. And Brenessa," Both Kendra and Berny looked at Dad.

"Welcome to the family, you're one of us now and I'm entrusting my little girl into your hands or paws." Dad joked.

"William." Kendra said firmly.

"Kendra." Dad nodded back.

I was really enjoying what was going on here, I never expected it to go this well, well not until...

"What are you doing!" Aspen said hitting his fist on the table.

"What's the matter son?" Father asked.

"Wait so you don't see anything wrong with the mysterious appearance of Avyanna's wolf?" Aspen asked again.

"Given that you already knew about this earlier without informing me, I see no problem with this addition to our family. Besides, she's still your sister." Father explained.

"But- but- she's a wolf..."

"And so is your mother, does that mean you respect her any less." Kendra snapped at Aspen.

He stepped back in defence knowing very well not to mess with Kendra, she might be our mother's wolf but she was not afraid to smack some sense into us.

"This... T-This is wrong!" Aspen shouted as he stormed off.

"Look Zivanka, I've always warned you about spoiling that child now look, you should have let me rough him up all those years back." Kendra said obviously talking to Mom.

This made Berny laugh bringing back attention to us, Mom looked at Dad who nodded at us.

"Come with me child." Kendra said walking us out of the dining hall.

We walked to mom's secret training ground, I called it that because she comes here whenever she wants to vent out her anger, in other words training. I know dumb right?

"Take off your clothes." Kendra said.

"What!" We both said at the same time being caught off guard.

"I said take off your clothes, don't make me repeat myself. I'm not as soft as Zivanka is, now." Kendra commanded.

"Do as Kendra says, she's only doing what's best for you." Mom mind linked Berny and I.

Before I could say anything Berny already started taking our cloths off, great!

"Now shift, I'm not going to repeat myself." Kendra commanded again.

Both Berny and I took a deep breath as we began to shift slowly, Kendra said nothing until the process was done.

"You took too long to shift, it's supposed to happen in an instance and as natural as possible." Kendra said shifting in an instance.

"Don't pay mind to her tone, focus on the lesson." Mom said again.

"Run!" This was Kendra's voice this time around.

And before we knew what was happening, she shifted and sprinted off leaving Berny and I behind but not before one more mind link.

"If you don't reach the boarder of this territory before I do then I'll never accept you as my child." This turned off every sense of reasoning in Bernessa's mind and activated every pluse in our body as we jump started right after her.

I felt the ground dig under our feet as we ran, I had never felt so much power before, we ran through the wood with such ease since we've been using it as a playground for Berny.

"You know where the boarders are, I'll leave this to you Berny." I said supporting her.

"Just leave this to me, I'm not about to be rejected by my own mother." Berny said before shutting me out focusing on the race in front of us.

We ran until I began to see shadows of another wolf beside us, I mind linked it to see if it was Mom.

"Mom? Is that you?" I asked.

"Avy? You're here already?" Mom replied surprised.

I was happy with the surprise in her voice meaning Kendra was going to take us more seriously now. I felt Berny chuckle as if happy with what I had just done.

We sprinted off towards the wolf figure in front of us as we ran neck in neck with my mother and Kendra.

I recognized our surrounding as I watched through our eyes, then it clicked.

"Berny? How do you feel about tunnels?" I asked.

"What?" Ber snapped.

"It's a short cut, trust me on this." I said.

"You know we can't afford to lose, I won't be able to handle rejection." Berny said.

I knew what was at stake and that was why we had to risk it all or nothing.

I told her there was an abandoned mine close by that lead faster to the boarders.

Ber took a detour and found the mine exactly where I said it was, we ran as I instructed her which paths to take and before we knew it we bursted out of the tunnel just in time before mother arrived at the boarder.

We were both panting hard as we caught out breaths, it was obvious that both Ber and I won but we had to hear what Kendra had to say.

"I'm impressed, I see that the connection between you and your wolf is strong even though it's just been a few days. Well done girl." Kendra said looking down at our wolf.

I smiled internally on getting a compliment from my mother's wolf, given that most times she threatens to lock us in silver.

We sat there and talked for a while still in our wolf form with Mom and Kendra telling us more about ourselves and wolves and I must say there was more to it than anything in the kingdom knew, not even my Dad or Mr Daniels.

"We continue for the rest of the week then when we're done you can return back to school." Kendra said.

Score... I didn't have to go to school for the next few days

"But finals? She needs to study too." Mom whined from within.

"Oh you'll figure that one out, left to me I'd keep her at home for constant training on how to be a wolf and protect her pack when she finally meets her mate." Kendra said which lead to an awkward argument between them.

After a while we were done, Mom and Kendra had said most of what thay had to say and off we were, into the mist of the forest in front and behind us.

Third Person Pov...

After the ladies had left and the prince had decided to seclude himself from his royal activities, the King was left alone to find out what had gone wrong.

He walked briskly towards the furthest west wing of the palace thinking about why it had happened so soon, he had an unsettling feeling about everything that was going on but he just couldn't place his finger on it.

He finally reached a tall wooden door in which from a mile away anyone could tell that magic was being forged in that room.

King William took a deep breath as he opened the door to the last and only surviving seer of the kingdom.

He was a smallish old man who seemed to always be in a hurry to nowhere as he continued to mutter...

'No time to lose...'

"Aardik!" The King called in a commanding voice.

The old man stopped in his pace as he slowly looked back, he smiled with the only word coming out of his mouth...

"Visitor?" Aardik said.

This brought a warm smile the face of the king as he walked over to the old man.

"Yes old friend, visitor!" William said hugging the old man.

"We have a problem my old friend. She's... she's awoken, my daughter now has connection with her wolf and I believe that what we've feared the most is right at our door step." William explained in a breath.

"Well then well then... We give her more fun juice." Aardik said walking back to his table of potion.

"The wolfban doesn't work anymore, it was hard enough keeping it away from Kendra, I can't increase the dose." William explained.

At this point Aardik stopped what he was doing and in a dead serious voice and lifeless eyes he turned to William.

"Then the prophecy must be fulfilled."

This struck fear into William's heart as he did not wish for his little girl to suffer a fate cursed to her by her own ancestors.
