Unexpectedly, a pair of big hands quickly wrapped around her waist and embraced her.
"Miss Taylor, be careful."
Susie was freaked out. When she looked up, she saw Neil's tender face.
"Buck! What are you doing?" Neil asked in anger.
Susie looked back and found that Buck was hiding behind a pillar on the second floor and rolling his eyes at her. "Brother Neil, she took away my slingshot and bullied me in the castle. She deserves it!" Buck complained.
Susie immediately knew that it was Buck who pushed her on the stairs.
Neil apologized to her, and then rebuked Buck, "Apologize to Miss Taylor, or you won't be having dinner!"
Buck was stunned for a second when he saw that Neil was really angry. He looked at Neil and Susie in disbelief, his eyes full of the pain of betrayal, "Brother Neil, you don't love me anymore!"
Buck wiped his tears, turned his head and ran away.
Neil apologized to Susie again.
His hand was still on her waist, which made Susie uncomfortable, and she moved her body slightly.
Neil smiled at her as he retracted his hand. He took a step back and distanced himself from her.
But when did that, he gently rubbed her waist, bewildering her.
She thanked him unnaturally and hurried down the stairs.
Neil stood on the stairs and looked at her back, rubbing his fingers. His eyes became grim. A sinister smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
Downstairs in the living room, Buck was wiping his tears and whining to Daphne, "Mom, she is a bad woman. She robbed my slingshot. That stinking blind threw me on the ground."
Just at then, Susie came in and heard Buck's words. She sensed Daphne's glance and said, "Mrs. Jackson, I can explain."
"Explain what? It has nothing to do with Miss Taylor. It's just a misunderstanding." Neil interjected, standing behind Susie.
"Brother Neil!" annoyed, Buck said. He hold on the skirt of Daphne's clothes and complained bitterly, "Mummy, I'm not wrong. Brother Neil is protecting her."
Daphne looked at Neil with some surprise. Their eyes met. Daphne then glanced at Susie coldly.
The atmosphere of the dinner was odd.
Buck sat next to Sara, kept calling her "Sister Sara" in an intimate tone and serving her food while rolling his eyes at Susie.
Daphne didn't speak much, but she was smiling when she faced Sara, and cold, Susie.
Susie quickly finished her dinner, left the room, and went to find Mr. Gary.
She told Mr. Gary that she was sold to the Jacksons while she was at work. She wanted to go back to the company to apply for suspension and returned to work after the Jackson family's affairs were taken care of.
"Can I take a day off tomorrow?" she looked at Mr. Gary expectantly.
He was frowning. "Half day. It only takes half a day. Please." Susie begged.
Mr. Gary nodded, "Alright, then. Miss Taylor, come back as soon as you are done with that. I'll arrange a chauffeur for you."
Although she knew that chauffeur was to monitor her, Susie was still happy that Mr. Gary gave her consent.
