Chapter 17 - Was Kain Dead?

"Miss Taylor, you look much better now than before." Mrs. Jackson looked at the symmetrical palm prints on Susie's face and smiled.

Susie tried to open her mouth to curse Mrs. Jackson, but with her face swollen like a bun, Susie could only make slurred noises.

Mrs. Jackson folded her hands and laughed smugly.

At this time, the fire around the castle gradually extinguished. Mrs. Jackson turned to look at the castle. It was intact. Her eyes shone with hatred. She murmured, "It's intact . . . intact . . . no matter how I burn it . . . "

Mrs. Jackson's desperate, mournful laughter rang through the night air, sounding more like her cries.

"Hahaha, why did you care so much about that bastard? You spent so much to build him such a strange castle! Never destroy! Never fall! Was that your love for that woman?

Susie didn't quite understand what Mrs. Jackson meant and why she had suddenly become crazy. When she turned around and saw the castle, her pupils widened.

The castle, which should have collapsed in the fire, was still standing tall. If it hadn't been for the dark traces of smoke on the walls, it would have been hard to believe that this castle had just experienced a fire.

At the same time, the burned trees were rapidly breaking out new shoots and growing into a large tree. Everyone held their breath in shock.

In the blink of an eye, the woods restored in its original form. The cool night wind blew through, and everyone shuddered.

Susie's hair stood on end. If she hadn't gritted her teeth, she would have been screaming by now.

She has only seen such a powerful resilience in one person – Kain!

Mrs. Jackson's face was almost a translucent pale; her eyes were full of despair and fear. She suddenly turned her head and stared at Susie, "See? Kain is a monster. He is a monster!"

Susie shivered, staring blankly at Mrs. Jackson, speechless for a moment.

Mrs. Jackson had no intention of listening to Susie's response. She glanced angrily at the dark and majestic castle, and left in a mighty manner with all the servants.

Susie sat up from the ground and stared blankly at the restored woods, still feeling incredible.

Suddenly, the sound of wings flapping above her head sounded. Jack flew around her in a panic voice, "Stinking girl! Little master is dying!"

Susie snapped back to her senses. Thinking of Kain, the fate of whom remained unknown, she immediately stood up and followed Jack into the castle.

Almost all the items in Kain's bedroom were burnt. His room was quiet.

Susie followed Jack to the corner and found Kain curled up on the floor, unconscious. He was shaking all over, sweating on his forehead, and pale.

"Stinking girl, what are you doing? Hurry up! Save little master's life!" Jack flew around her anxiously.

Probably because of the spectacle she witnessed just outside the castle, Susie wasn't shocked by the fact that Kain was still alive.

Immediately, she asked, "What should I do?"
