Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

The Crescere Arena stood ten hundred feet tall and fifty hundred feet wide, the walls were made of a wet mix of a grey paste reinforced with stones. They had never been to an enormous place like this one, it was an uncharted part of Zin or a ploy to keep them off the planes. Zenith was on his toes as he ventured into the strange hall picking a torch, flailing it in front of him, he was tenacious and lowered it to the trail of water, he raised it to the wooden door and it groaned heavily telling of its weight and pushed it aside.

"Grisla, Grisla," He whispered and screamed at the giant bat dragon, its ears vibrated when it snarled. He fanned it over its face and its beaded eyes only wavered and it wandered away in the labyrinth.

He stirred at the creature that just whiffed past him.

"I'm here," She said and he saw the flicker on the rocky surface, her eyes opened and she stepped out as a Voltagnan beastie, the same Viperess and her hair hissed and snapped into the darkness.

He put a fist to his mouth.

"Take your time," She said when he held his breath with tears and he shook his head.

"Apparently this is what happens to me when I leave the borders,"

"It's fine," He sighed and tapped his knee cracking up. "At least you've got your war face on...or war snakes," He poked one.

---

"Can we just get what we came for?" She groaned and they ambled to three doorways and looked about, they glanced at the left doorway that had a white zest flowing through the corners, Zenith saw the grey walls grow into aesthetic verdant embankments with flowers, the ground they walked on was made of dry, levelled lava.

She took out her bow and raised a Lavarro watchful when they took a right following the white strings of magic.

Zenith saw the fountain with icy sculptures like clams spewing water from the ends, he looked at them in deep thought and their footsteps resounded in the quiet alley and he moved on. The white trail stopped at a tunnel and he huffed, he thought he heard Spectran say to keep his eyes open, he wouldn't dream of letting his guard down where Grisla stood.

Like a pack of cards, the path evolved swiftly flipping open and forming a bigger ring at every turn. Soon a heavy rush of water zipped through the tunnel and Zenith hung to the hook on the ceiling with Grisla dangling.

She gasped at the wave and looked up at him, he grit his teeth waiting for the water to subside and dropped her. She set three arrows toward the open tunnel and he swivelled down to the ground and picked up his mace_That's what she meant.

She nodded her thanks.

"We need a strategy,"

"I say we hit as hard as we can," She suggested and they encountered Maelstrom, her eyes narrowed at the Icethyst and Topyx. "He already has two of them,"

"And soon to be more!" He attacked first and Grisla blocked the icicle hail he sent at her and she hobbled back, she growled and spun her bow breaking the others.

"I'll take Maelstrom," He said twirling the cable.

"Plants and gravel don't really go well together_" They leapt at the rush again and Zenith shielded his eyes from the sand. Grisla's eyes were already protected and she hardly blinked_perks of being a freak. She thought.

"We'll split,"

They parted in the Crescere Arena and Ogysdane came out of his hiding spot in black armour with blue outlines and bare feet.

"Imagine that," Zenith said at his appearance and Maelstrom didn't hesitate to go after him in full force.

Zenith gasped when he ran, leapt and rammed him against the wall.

He groaned inside the wall and fell back with gravel falling off and shook off the hit swinging his mace at him. It hit his side and Zenith's eyes followed the grains pouring down.

"I always knew you'd make a fine brute," Zenith said knowing exactly who he was by character.

"If only your jokes were as good as your techniques," Maelstrom raised a fist and he recoiled before he was about to get hit with a weapon of his own.

"Is that a compliment?" He grinned.

He fell back when Maelstrom overwhelmed him with a bag full of sand.

Grisla hung by the side of the arena with the serpents hissing in the other direction. Ogysdane's gauntlets beamed with the Aqua-Sapphire and redirected the wave at her, she backflipped over the rush to land behind him and shot him, he countered the water attack to curve in front of him and the arrows were left defective.

She wielded the Rubinet and it buzzed blocking the wave and they were left in a space full of steam. Nearly hit with her arrows, he leapt over the lava mix and crushed her with the gauntlets [ The gem made them indestructible as they were ]

The serpents hissed and bit him on the forehead spitting venom into his eyes. He rolled back when she smashed him getting up.

"What the fuck!?" He stood with blood-red eyes and she spun jamming the arrow against his chin,

"I'm sorry should I call the ambulance?" She said.

"Look out!" She turned and was met with a full 170 pound hit from Zenith and they fell over drenched in wet sand.

Ogysdane stood adjusting his chin and Maelstrom sauntered to them with his battle-axe.

Zenith rolled over and his eyes gleamed, the ground crumbled underneath them and two hefty vines rose and swallowed them tossing them away to buy them time. Grisla tossed and spat out his hair. "Ugh, my mouth was open,"

"No time to think about that_" The ice pinned him against the wall and his legs dangled, Her eyes rounded.

"Grisla, help!" He threw his head back when it compressed him.

She wielded his mace and he gasped when she went on to fight on her own. The ice broke when she tossed it back with enough velocity and he landed.

She directed the lava at Maelstrom and the sand clashed, she trudged closer in the collision and the new wave of ice intercepted her, she coughed at the mix of ice, dust and smoke, he growled when she was getting closer still and iced the floor, she slipped and got under him, the collision waned and he jumped over her being a victim to his own ice sheet and fell over.

His skin simmered melting and her thin pupils thinned, she spun up with the skill of a breakdancer and flipped back at Ogydane's shots.

"You just keep coming back for more, don't you?"

She stopped and listened aggrieved by Zenith's voice in her head and shuddered, her eyes began to work keenly and they rested on Ogysdane's gauntlets and looked at him, he looked uncertain and that was her cue. She hissed and threw him off pinning him to the ground, he gasped as the serpents snapped at him and simultaneously the magma entrapped the gauntlets dragging them off, his arms flexed and he pulled them up struggling.
