The giant headless spider walks towards us and let out a deafening screech that made us cover our ears while making a pained expression.
The three of us started running away as the giant headless spider chased after us in the tunnels.
Though a huge headless spider was chasing after us, it was surprisingly slower than the swarm of juvenile headless spiders.
Most likely it was because of the space within the tunnel which was not enough for it.
"Damn... We've got stupid headless spiders on our tails!"
"How can they even move without a brain? If there is one, where is it?!"
"Probably not inside the head! Just keep running and hope nothing comes up on this side of the tunnel!"
Suddenly, something fast was shot past us and a wall of spider web blocked our path.
"Get outta the way, Ahjussi!"
I turned around and saw Gunwoo jump high in the air with his polearm.
His polearm glowed a bright yellow light and a few seconds after I moved out of the way, he does an upward slash which created a passage through the spider web.
We went through the passage and the spider was still chasing us.
"Well, seems like that slowed it down."
"By a few milliseconds."
"Can we fight that thing, Minhyuk-ssi?"
"No, I doubt that for now. We shouldn't take our chances right now. Let's find a way out at the next subway station."
"How are we going to slow that thing down more, then?"
"What are your skills, you two?"
Jiyoon-ssi and Gunwoo looks at me while showing their talent trees with the skills they've unlocked.
"I've only unlocked three so far. Two from the offensive and one from the passive. For offensive, one increases the damage and speed of my arrows, the other decreases the weight of every weapon I use. As for the passive, it's the sensory skill."
"I've got two so far. Only an offensive and defensive skill. The one I just did earlier was the attack which pretty much increases the range of my polearm. As for the defensive, I've got probably one of the worst."
"What?"
"It's called [ Damage Reflection ]. It basically deflects any physical attack coming at us, but it's pretty limited in terms of..." Gunwoo paused as if he was trying to find a word for an explantion.
"Hah? Explain."
"How do I say this... It's like more based on my current HP. I need to be able to withstand a damage lower or equal to my HP in order to deflect it back."
"I see. So, if I hit you right now and you were able to take it, you can hit me back with the same amount of strength?"
"Yeah, that's it."
"I'd say it's pretty handy, but not now, I guess. I mean, that thing is huge. There's no way that isn't able to deal huge damage."
"We won't know until we try." I suggested and Gunwoo flinched.
"What? Hey! You don't plan on throwing me in here right now, do you?!" Gunwoo turned his head towards me while shaking.
"Huh? Idiot. If I were to throw you in right now, I would've done that earlier."
"Anyways, I've got a plan. I'm gonna need both of your cooperations."
"Let's hear it then."
We discussed my plan while running away from the giant headless spider.
"We're close from the next subway station. There's no way that swarm could catch up to us."
"Haven't I told you yet? The shield was broken halfway and the swarm is on its way towards us."
"Then, it's dangerous..." The smirk on Gunwoo's face disappeared as it turned into something of a disappointed expression.
"Yeah. I don't know how long this'll hold a swarm and a giant, but we won't know until we try."
"Minhyuk-ssi, the swarm. They're here." Jiyoon-ssi notified us at the exact time the rumbling on the ground become more intense.
I activated [ Momentary Shield ] and got ready to place it when we arrive at the station.
And once we've finally arrived, I placed a shield to act as a barrier between the headless spider and its swarm across the three of us.
"Go, quick!" I shouted as the three of us ran to the platform and get up.
Heck, I didn't know the when the shield is receiving damage, mana would be lost for every hit it takes until I run out of mana.
But, it was a good thing that I had upgraded my mana. It might've taken just a few seconds to break that shield if I didn't have a lot.
We ran out of the station almost without worry, thinking the shield would last, but we were fools.
Just as we were running out of the station, a loud, deafening screech was heard again from the giant headless spider.
I then noticed my mana bar going down at a rapid rate so I immediately cancelled the [ Momentary Shield. ]
"Run... I'm about to run out of mana so I got rid of the shield."
"Huh? Then, the spiders are on their way here?"
"Yeah, probably. I think so."
"It has a bigger advantage here now. There's more space here than inside the tunnel..."
We started running faster, but to our surprise, it was only the swarm of juvenile headless spiders that came out of the station and the giant headless spider was nowhere to be seen.
The three of us were wondering why it was just the swarm and not the biggest. It might be taking a detour to find us, but we didn't have time to think about what happened to it. However, we still had to be cautious about it.
While the three of us were running, the rumbling of the ground suddenly stopped and we turned around to see the swarm of juvenile headless spiders were gone.
"Wh... What just happened?"
The three of us looked around as if the swarm of juvenile headless spiders would come out of nowhere and snatch us, but it didn't.
Instead, our system opened on its own with a notification, saying, [ The Second Trial is about to start. ]
