Our system opened itself on its own and showed us a notification about the Second Trial.
[ The Second Trial: Seven Nights Of Terror. ]
[ Your main goal is to survive a horde of monsters attacking every night for one whole week. ]
[ All monsters around the world are caged in a chamber underneath the Earth or the sea. They will be released once again at night, and caged again at dawn. This cycle will repeat until the seventh night. ]
[ At the seventh night, a boss will appear and you are objected to take part in it. Anyone who deals the last hit shall receive the most rewards, but sometimes greediness can lead to bad outcomes, so be careful of your choices. ]
[ You are free to form alliances or create enemies which can either increase or decrease your survival rate in this trial. ]
I was expecting that strange deep voice of "God" to speak again, but thank god he didn't. Everytime he speaks, it just gives me headaches.
"What do you two think we should do about this?"
"I think we should find somewhere safe to hide during the night. But it also needs to have another route for escape."
"Let's team up with people to increase our chance of survival." Jiyoon-ssi had a great suggestion, only if the knowledge of stealing coins from other people didn't exist.
"Do you two even think we have someone to trust in this current situation? Everyone knows about the concept of stealing coins."
"It's not like everyone would do the same." Gunwoo tried to defend Jiyoon-ssi's suggestion without any hesitation.
"Then, let me ask you both a question. Do you two think I would steal your coins once you've gotten enough for me to steal?" I asked with a stern tone which I think made them nervous, judging by the look on their faces.
"Yes." Gunwoo answered with a straight look on his face.
"No. I trust Minhyuk-ssi a lot. He'd never do that."
"That was heartwarming, but there's only one Minhyuk-ssi, and that's me and me alone. In this world or universe, at least."
"Huh? What do you..."
"Never mind that. Maybe it probably... won't hurt to trust people for once. But, if something bad were to happen, make sure we've got a plan if something does happen."
"Do you know anyone we can look for?"
"About that..." They both awkwardly laughed while looking away from me.
"Don't mind it. We can just search around for someone who'd have a group to cooperate with. 4 billion[1] people is still a lot."
"If I were in a situation like this, where would I set up as a safe place..." Gunwoo thought about it while he holds his chin and stare at the air.
"You are in a situation like this, Gunwoo."
"... Oh."
"I think we should head to somewhere spacious, but has a lot of rooms."
"... The company building could be a great choice for that. But, our company's rival company is pretty much bigger than ours."
"That's right. And it's the closest one from our current location."
The three of us talked about where we should head and we ended up at the rival company building I suggested earlier.
We walked our way there and once we arrived, we saw some people about to close the door.
"There's people here already..."
"You three! You just came in the right time! We were about to close every door in this building for safety purposes. Get in!" One of the men who was at the door called us in.
The two of them went inside and I followed behindd with the man who closed the door and we noticed there weren't a lot of people.
"There's... only a small amount of people."
I see this as an absolute win. If there was a higher amount of people inside, there would be a higher chance of infighting among us.
"There are others in the other building, but we thought it'd be wise if the group was divided into two to lower the chances of fighting among us."
"I'm Han Mingyu. Come with me and I'll bring you to the person that leads our group."
"Okay." We nodded and followed Mingyu where brough us to an office in the second floor.
Inside the office, we saw a woman in front of a table while drawing on a map. She seemed to be planning for later night when the monsters come out.
"Hm? Mingyu, you brought more people inside." Her eyes averted away from the map and looked at us.
"I saw them running towards our building just in time before we closed all doors."
"This is Sung Eunjoo. She's the one who's in charge of our group here."
"My, you three are charming indeed. Especially you." The woman named "Sung Eunjoo" looked at me with those eyes of her as if she has secret motives.
Eunjoo walked towards me and took a closer look to my face.
"You... You have the face of an angel and the eyes of the devil. I wonder what lies within your mind."
"Thanks... I guess?" I replied to which she giggled before her face turned into something serious.
"I wasn't complimenting you. I'm describing you. The devil could be a man with the face of an angel, without red skin, horns and a tail."
"Damn... I... kinda don't care." I would say that and scratch the back of my head, but it might be a bad idea, so I'll just keep it with me.
"Oh, it's alright. I have no problems with iteven if you think of me that way."
"Haha, please don't think I see you as a devil. I was just saying that there could be a devil since there is a God as we all know now."
"I don't see it impossible at all, acknowledging the existence of man-eating monsters."
"Anyways, let us join your group. We'd be willing to help in things we can help you all with."
"Well, since you three are inside our building with all the doors closed, we can't decline. It'd also be a pity to not have more members to protect each other."
To be honest, she seemed like a nice and kind woman even though her looks says she has some secret ulterior motives.
"Alright, seems like we have an even number of people inside. We can have three groups of four defend each entrance to the building."
"Mingyu, you don't have a group yet, right? Group up with these three and head to the parking lot to be our scouts. Remember, only one will report and four are allowed to return inside if ever something happens, but do not bring any monsters inside."
"Mingyu, head to the third floor which has a bridge to the car park building now and these three will follow after we have a talk."
"Okay, Ms. Sung." Mingyu answered and he walked away.
"Sorry that you three just came in and have to be ordered around by me, but that's how it should go." Eunjoo apologized to us and did a light bow.
"No, there's no need to apologize. We totally understand why. As for your group, you all seem close to each other."
"Yes. I'm the teacher of their class and we're from Seoul who came here for a school trip and this happened."
"If you have no more questions, hesd to the third floor now. Perhaps, you may be able to find something like an escape route or where monsters would most likely come out from. It's 5 o'clock now. We don't know what time the monsters would come out, but the earliest it could be is 6 o'clock."
"Thank you for letting us in."
The three of us bowed before we headed to the third floor where Mingyu and our spot would be at while we wait for them to come out.
[1] About the 4 billion population, the population of the Earth is estimated (I don't know if that's the right word) to reach 8 billion by 2023, so this story takes place in 2023. Since the population is 8 billion, half of 8 billion was killed by the other half to survive.
