Chapter eight
The morning seemed so early for Myra Rogers.
When she woke up, it was nine already. And the appointment was at eleven. And well, only God knows how long it would last.
She made pasta after she had bathed and applied some body beauty products.
When she sat to eat, she slightly remembered what had transpired the night before.
She had some regrets slightly especially when she thought of what Kevin would do to her about it.
But it still didn't matter. She was glad she was able to pull it off smoothly without sounding too rude.
Kevin would know better than clinging to it.
For another reason, she seemed so happy that morning. Maybe it was because of the fact that Peter was coming to Marlow or because she was finally able to get revenge.
She set to wear a short blue gown, one that complimented the one Kevin had brought for her.
She decided on black stilettos and when she tied her hair in buns.
She didn't apply any makeup. Well, she never needed it, not for casualties.
She might consider it if it was the party.
Well, Kevin's welcome party has been rescheduled for the coming week.
A horn sounded outside, jerking Myra out of her thoughts and reminding her of the fact that she would be facing the devil again.
But what could she do?
Myra took a blue bag and grabbed her phone. She strode out of her bedroom, into the living room.
It was just in time for a soft knock to disturb the serenity of the room.
She opened the door and stared at the stranger," Yes, who are you?"
"I'm Mr. Kevin's chauffeur. I've come to pick you."
Dressed in a blue suit, even his chauffeur looked hot. Well, Kevin would have looked hot as well if he wasn't always burning and bringing flames.
He was just a devil in disguise.
She walked to the car and got in, "Where's Mr. Kevin."
"Home," the chauffeur said and switched on the engine.
"Home?" Myra repeated as if tasting the sound of it. There was supposed to be an appointment soon, "Why is he still at home?"
"That, I can't say but I'm supposed to drive you home," he replied and switched on the music, giving no room for extra conversation.
Myra sighed, feeling angry again. She folded her hands beside her that it nearly turned knuckle.
The car soon pulled up in front of a big house in the estates. Well, it wasn't the only house around. In fact, they were separated from other types of houses.
It's a duplex with high tastes.
Myra walked down and stared at the flowers.
"Miss, you should go in," the chauffeur said suddenly, startling her.
She looked back at him and watched him take the route beside the building.
She walked to the door and knocked slightly.
The CEO was a badass man. How could he invite her home?
They were business partners and not otherwise.
After knocking for a moment, she opened the door and stepped in.
She stopped for a while, and instead, stared in awe of how the living room was.
Neat! Beauty! Perfect! Gorgeous!
Was there any other word she could use to qualify it?
The whole place was magnificent. It was just exactly like a palace. There was a huge chandelier and a flight of stairs up to unknown rooms.
"You seem to love my home," a thick voice brought Myra back to the mundane world with a thud.
She searched around for him and found him by the kitchen. She hadn't seen him when she looked around the other time.
She stared for a while, startled by the image in front of her.
Kevin is only in black trousers. Though, his back was at her and he seemed to be getting something from the fridge.
Anyways, his hair was so rough that you could have guessed he hasn't taken his bathe or maybe he was making out and his mistress is in here somewhere.
"Do you or do you not know how to greet?" He turned around, with some creams and soda in his hands.
The action gave her a clear view of his hairy and wide chest.
He's with abs and his muscles seem to be something natural rather than something acquired by frequent visits to the gyms.
"Good morning sir," Myra said quickly but continued to watch him.
He eventually placed the items on the table and looked up at Myra, "Have you had breakfast?"
"Yes. And I believe the appointment is no," Myra said and darted at her wristwatch, " We need to move now."
Kevin sat, "It has been postponed. It's one in the afternoon and it will end in two hours."
Myra stared in anguish and anger, " Why did no one inform me? I'm the secretary for goddamn sake."
Kevin sighed, " You wouldn't even pick up!" He started eating.
Myra delved into her back for her phone and look through it. Four missed calls. Two were from Kevin while the other two were from the company they were having an appointment with.
Myra slapped herself mentally. Jeez, how did she miss the calls?
"Unless you want to stand for as long as I'm done here, you can sit," his thick voice rang across the room again, with a hint of sarcasm.
Was he getting back at her for what she did the other night?
Myra waved it off and sat instead.
He didn't talk and she didn't start any conversation either but Myra could feel his gaze on her.
It felt awkward however that she was in his living room and he was only a few feet away and he was staring at her.
"The dress I got for you was prettier than this," he said suddenly, " Did your boyfriend tell you not to wear it?" He laughed.
The question amazed Myra but pretended as though she didn't hear him. She wouldn't let Kevin provoke her unnecessarily.
"You know what," his voice sounded nearer than the other time. It's seemed like he was moving closer to her.
"I lied. The meeting has been canceled!" There was this excitement in his voice.
Myra finally turned to look at him, with gaze gone gobsmacked.
Kevin stared at her with a smirk on his face, "That was your punishment for rejecting my offer," he said with a sardonic twist to his lips.
He seemed so satisfied with his achievement.
Myra stared at him unbelievably. And he was also watching her.
The motherfucker!
She got up earlier so she could go for the appointment but it was canceled and Kevin intentionally told her it got postponed when it was actually canceled?
Hot anger surged through her as she watched him.
He had a sudden urge to hit him across the face.
Kevin laughed again as if daring her.
She stared for a while before picking up her bag and walking away.
