Chereads / MINE! For The CEO / Chapter 10 - Who's the new devil?

Chapter 10 - Who's the new devil?

Chapter ten

Myra cracked her knuckles, it's been a while since she had some sort of action. She thought of a good way to bring the guy down.

She walked closer, looking the guy eye to eye.

He lowered his eyes in guilt, just in time for the elevator to stop briefly. They all stepped out but the guy walked away quickly.

Myra turned to the two ladies, their IDs- Lisa Bicknell and Rachel Trevor and they looked like they came for prostitution jobs instead because of their heavy make-up and revealing clothes.

"I recommend you watch what you say behind the CEO if you still want to keep your jobs."

The dark-haired lady-Lisa, snickered, standing up to Myra. "What if we don't?"

"Yes. Who the hell is this low-life to order us around?" Rachel seconded.

"I'm Myra Rogers!"

"Who cares? The fact that the CEO chose you to be his secretary doesn't mean anything. You'll surely be replaced like the others"

Myra thought she heard a strip of envy in Lisa's voice, these employees hadn't known how devilish and heartless Kevin is. He only looks cool from the outside.

She would gladly give up her position as secretary for another job. "I have no time for people like you" she muttered.

"Who knows how many rounds you have to give him to be hired" Lisa yelled.

"What?" Myra turned around in disbelief.

Everyone in the office stopped working momentarily to stare at them.

"What did you just say?"

"You heard me right! How come a riff-raff like you landed the job of secretary to the richest CEO in the country if you aren't his sex toy?" Lisa asked menacingly.

"You!" Myra moved closer quickly and lifted her hands to hit her.

"What the hell is going on here?" a resounding voice echoed through the hall, stopping Myra from what she was about to do.

Everyone scampered to their original position like nothing ever happened, leaving the three ladies to face the wrath of the scary man.

Myra had never seen him before. He was tall, he has brown hair and blue eyes. He had as much charisma and aura Kevin had.

It seemed he was also an important figure in this company because the ladies beside her lost all their courage as soon as they saw him.

Myra wiped her sweaty palms against her dress, she'd gotten into trouble with another heartless dictator.

Wielding his domineering presence as he walked to them, Myra held her breath when he stopped in front of her, his eyes boring into hers.

"What does the no 34 rule of your contract state?" he demanded.

"Hi, Huh?" Myra stuttered.

"Lisa! Rachel!" he hollered with his eyes never leaving Myra's.

It_It states that no sort of bickering or fighting would be permitted during office hours" Lisa trembled.

"Both of you, seven pages of an apology letter on my table 1st thing tomorrow morning!" he announced, turning around to leave.

Myra sighed relief.

However, her joy was short-lived as the man pointed at her when he got to the door. "You"

Myra turned around, was he referring to someone else?

"In my office now!" he demanded.

Myra sauntered into his office with her eyes lowered, on her way here Rose had told her all about Christ.

His father was the owner of the company, though he maintained discipline in the office, he was a bad administrative manager, reason why Kevin was employed.

"Come in," he said without looking up.

Myra was stunned, how did he know she was at the door?

"I'm so sorry for causing a commotion in the office earlier" Myra apologized immediately.

Christ raised his eyes to stare at her. "You're Kevin's secretary right?"

"Yes sir."

"Why isn't your boss here yet?"

"I have no idea, sir."

"What about the reports he's to submit to the shareholders?" He stood up from the chair, strolling towards her slowly. "Does he think my company is a place where he does as he wishes?"

Myra looked away.

"Gawking at me is the idiot he has for a secretary" he spat.

Myra clenched her fists, raising her eyes to stare at him.

How dare he call her an idiot? No one had ever called her that, not even Kevin with his hostility.

"You have no right to call me an idiot. I'm not your employee."

"Really" he chuckled, stopping in front of her, drilling holes deep into her eyes.

Myra closed her eyes in trepidation when he raised his hands.

He gave out a small grin. "You look so familiar"

Myra opened her eyes to see that he only adjusted the window behind her that more light was spilling on her face.

Christ placed a hand on her shoulder, pressing her down firmly. "You dimwit. I need those reports right now! I don't care how you get it."

Myra slapped his hands away in a rage. "I'm not a dimwit! And I don't take orders from you. You can as well get them from Kevin yourself."

"What?" he looked stunned.

"Asshole," Myra muttered under her breath, rushing to the door.

"You called me a what?"

Myra cursed herself. How did he hear that?

Slamming the door on his face, she ran off as he screamed in his office.

She berated herself again. She'd gotten herself and Kevin into trouble. Though, he had no right to call her names.

.

"Time to go home" Myra muttered as she stood up and stretched. She'd managed to finish the reports given to her by Kevin yesterday.

She finally felt how peaceful it was to work without a boss breathing down your neck and intimidating you every minute.

Kevin didn't show up today. His phone rang continuously when she called it earlier, he had not replied to her text messages earlier. She couldn't help but wonder if he was alright.

Packing her stuff, she headed out of the premises, boarding a taxi home.

Getting to her front porch, she met a note from the landlord on the door.

'Rent overdue' was written in capital letters with countless exclamation marks.

Slamming the door shut, Myra fell to the floor in fear of the traumatic experience she'd have to go through from her landlord again.

The man was a sadist. Last year, he pestered her unfailingly until she almost decided to go steal if not for the intervention of her boyfriend.

"Oh no. Shit!"

Myra was taken aback when she calculated the money left in her bank. She'd been living on her savings ever since she lost her job and now it was almost exhausting, she also need to pay her brother's fees and send some money to her mum for upkeep.

Her only hope was to ask for advance payment from Kevin.

She pulled her hair in frustration. How would he react? She would be doomed if he hands her a letter of job termination.

Myra hissed, trying to stop the tears of annoyance from gushing out.

How could she have this kind of life at 22yrs?

There was no doubt she'll have to endure more berating and torture from Kevin tomorrow.

Myra picked up her things, heading to the bathroom. She decided to make a video call to Peter, he accepted the call on the 3rd ring.

"Hi Sweetheart" she cooed.

"Oh. Hi, Myra" Peter looked startled. "I had no idea you were the one," he said looking behind him.

"Is someone there with you?"

"Huh? No dear. How was your day?" he asked.

"It was so-so" Myra sighed as she explained her hassle with Christ to him.

"Peter, are you listening to me?" she asked when she noticed he'd spaced out.

"Of course, my love. I have to go now. Make sure you eat something nutritious before going to bed."

"Sweet dreams," he said and ended the call before Myra could react.
