Chapter seven
Myra Rogers felt a stab of annoyance. For a moment, she wished she had a special power to make Kevin pay for what he had done to her.
How could he have acted so wicked at the office but he's dropping her a dress for the appointment.
Myra turned away quickly. She had been taking in everything he gave her all through the week but she wouldn't take this.
It wasn't even stated in the official rule for a CEO to do it. It was off business and Myra was satisfied she was finally able to pull it off.
She whirled around to walk back to the bedroom. She felt hungry but she was too tired to cook.
She would just go to bed on an empty stomach.
The sudden knock on the door jerked her out of thoughts again.
She walked back to the door and opened it it slowly. She stared back at the guy that had brought the parcel the other time.
He was smiling so brightly at her as if he had just done a great job.
Well, he just. Right? He delivered for the mighty Kevin Smith.
"I'm sorry but I forgot to give you the jewelry the other time," he said and brought out another small box.
Myra stared at the box for a moment, "Is this from Kevin as well?"
The guy nodded briefly, showing off his white set of teeth, "Yes ma'am. You will need to sign some papers," he rattles off and delved inside his bag for the papers.
" Alright," Myra smiled back, "Give me a second ok?" She said and didn't wait for his reply before she closed the door and went back to the dress that was carelessly lying about.
She picked it up and arranged it back into the box.
She went back to the door, opened and stretched it out, "Will you return this then? With the jewelry?"
The guy smiling face suddenly evolves into a frown, "What?"
"You heard me right. Collect this now before I splash it on your face."
The guy accepted the box, then looked up, probably to say something but Myra was suddenly slamming the door right at his face.
"Nonsense!" She cussed, irritated, and angry.
She was just too annoyed, too annoyed at everything.
Come to think of it. Saturday event was not her fault at all. It was partially his as well.
Why must he use it on her because he was the boss?
The ringtone of her voice brought her to the mundane world.
It was probably Kevin, She reasoned as she picked up the phone, only to discover it was Peter, her boyfriend.
She smiled, "Hi."
"Hi darling," Peter's voice seemed lively as usual. He was always full of life and sometimes, Myra wished she could tap some of his energy.
But he was her boyfriend. They could tap energies whenever they had sex, right?
Myra sighed, finally relieving herself of her earlier encounter, "How are you doing?"
"I'm fine but you sound off. Is something wrong?"
Myra walked back to the bedroom, " I'm fine. I was just pissed off," she said and quickly contemplated on whether to tell him about Kevin or not.
" What happened?" Peter's thick voice sounded in her ears, each awakening several hormones in her.
"It's my boss, ok? I feel he treats me with hatred."
"Why?" Peter seemed more confused but Myra didn't want to go further.
" When am I seeing you? It has been ages."
"Oh yes. I was thinking of this Saturday but it's booked for me.
"It's booked for me as well," Myra wanted to say but bit it back. It won't make a difference anyway.
"So, I will definitely see you by next week. I will let you know when but I will be coming back to Marlow by Thursday evening."
" Seriously?" Myra yelled happily.
Peter cracked laughter, "I've missed you as well."
Myra became sober, " Make sure you get something for me."
" I will, why won't I?" He chuckled again, " You should sleep now."
" Yeah, right," Myra yawned, "I'm so fucking tired!"
Peter laughed again, " Alright, goodnight."
And the phone went off.
The phone started ringing almost immediately as if the person have been trying to get through but couldn't because of the call she was having with her boyfriend.
And the other time was the devil himself.
She picked up immediately, "Yes, hello."
"Oh!" Kevin breathe out, "Who the fuck were you talking with for so long?" His angry voice shook through the air.
" Oh, I was talking to my boyfriend."
He went silent for a moment as if he was deeply thinking about something.
"You have a boyfriend?" The question amazed Myra. So, now she wasn't supposed to have a boyfriend?
"How does that relate with business, Mr. Kevin Smith?"
"I asked a question and you should answer," he sounded exasperated.
" Oh really? You should have also asked me when I had sex with my boyfriend. Since it was part of business and I should answer every damn question," her voice was soft and well, there were hints of sarcasm.
Myra wondered how she could still stay calm despite how much she wanted to lash at him and release little of the heat in her.
He went silent again, "Why did you reject the dress?"
Myra thought he was going to scream at her but it was very surprising that he spoke so low like a real gentleman.
No, she wouldn't be deceived. He was a monster.
"I have every right as to what to do with anything that concerns my body. You don't own my body, you own Myra," she said between her teeth.
" We have an appointment and I wanted to help," he tried harder, sounding pathetic. Myra was really doing a great job.
"Help? Did I also for one? Certainly not. You don't have to go such extra miles, I can handle myself, sir."
The phone went off without another word.
Myra Rogers screamed out in happiness. She has never felt so good in years. She had finally been able to give him a bit of his own medicine.
He should know how it felt to be treated like the way he treated her.
She smiled and eventually decided to cook before going to bed.
