Walking along the corridors of the castle, Dessa felt her former happiness disappear only to be replaced by extreme nervousness. She hadn't been able to find Nehunazzar in Zamien's palace, so her only hope was in searching the king's own dungeon. With an excuse to use the powder room, she left the ball room, following the directions a maid gave her. As she walked, she felt a slight pain on her chest and looked down to see her necklace glow a bright red color and raising itself from her chest. The necklace was a gift from her mother, a pretty golden chain with a bloody rose as its pendant. The necklace only glowed when something was up, like it was trying to tell her something. She had always felt that her mother was alive somewhere, advising her on what to do using this very rose necklace.
Feeling that something was not right somewhere, she abandoned her search for the sorcerer and instead walked towards where the necklace was pointing to. As she walked forward she finally stops in front of a wall and the necklace glows even brighter. Dessa looked around, wondering if there was a hidden door somewhere then she sniffs the smell of Gwelon, which is a type of herb the witches use to make a spell to conceal a room or a house. With ease she chants her own spell and the wall reveals itself to be a door which she opens.
The room was more like a little library the only unique thing about it was that it was in a mess. There were parchments and half opened scrolls lying in every corner of the room like it had just been rummaged through. As her eyes glanced towards the table, she noticed that it was even more scattered, filled with opened scrolls, she figured that someone might have discovered a few scrolls and had a little trouble finding out what message the held. With her necklace still glowing and pointing towards the table she walked towards it, looking through the scrolls, not knowing what she wanted to find, but searching anyways. As she picked up a scroll, the light in her necklace changed from a bright red to a glowing black and suddenly relaxed, going back to normal on her chest.
As she held the scroll to know what it was about, she heard voices and footsteps. With no further delay, she hid the scroll in her dress and ran out of the room, chanting a spell to leave the room in the same state she had found it in.
"Are you alright, wife?" Zamien asked, as soon as Dessa sat down.
"Yes, I'm fine." Dessa replied trying her best to act natural. As Zamien stared pointedly at the exact spot she had hidden the scroll in her dress, Dessa felt her heart drop all the way to stomach.
"Okay then." He said with a knowing smile.
