On her bed the very next day, Dessa was finding it hard to understand the contents of the scroll. First of all, the scroll was empty and had literally no contents. Second of all, the scroll seemed to be fading bit by bit from the edges at a very slow pace. So if she wasn't able to read the contents, the whole scroll will fade away in no time. The only beings she knew where capable of doing such a thing were either the witches or the sorcerers. The sorcerers would never collide with Royall, and as for the witches, the witches were divided into two. The white witches and the black witches, the black witches were capable of literarily anything unthinkable and the white witches, whether involved or uninvolved were always punished alongside the black witches.
If this was actually a spell from the black witches, it would have to be the disappearing spell. Dessa was not a witch but thanks to the fact that the powers of her and her sisters interconnected, as the oldest she had a little bit of the powers of all her sisters. As she chanted a spell to bypass the disappearing spell of the witches, the words slowly appeared on the scroll along with little drawings. The scroll talked of sacrifices and rituals that would happen and those that have already happened. Each explained with a little diagram to symbolize the process and the result.
Dessa knew the witches were evil and that most of the beings of this world hated them, but she didn't think they were this ruthless when dealing with others. She studied the scrolls for a few more hours before she finally understood how the witches operated and how the rituals worked. She was able to tell when the next ritual would be held and what it would be about.
Finally done with that, Dessa realized just how hungry she was and called for the maids, asking them to prepare a nice meal for her. She had not seen her husband throughout the day and she wondered if he knew that his uncle was colliding with witches to sacrifice people for one reason or the other.
With a little more than curiosity, she walked into Zamien's room, glad that he was not there and that none of his guards tried to stop her. She knew Zamien had a little office library in his room as she had seen it once, the only problem was that she didn't know how to find it. Most architects created hidden doors behind bookshelves, so she walked towards the only bookshelf in the room, lifting every single book. By the time she was done, she still hadn't found where the door to Zamien's office was. As she glanced around, she caught sight of Zamien's portrait, hanging right beside the bookshelf, she noticed that the picture seemed to glow in the darkness of the room. She felt it with her hands, wanting to know what type of paint was used in its production. As she touched it, she felt the picture move back and along came a door, startled but excited, Dessa opened the door and walked in, eager to search for whatever her husband was hiding in this room.
The room seemed normal and neat unlike the concealed office in the king's castle. Only that the room was gothic and eerily looking, just like its owner. At a corner in the room she saw a small black box which looked like it had recently been opened. Inside the box she found records of the various ritual sites of the witches, grabbing the first and last according to their dates, she closed the door and left the room. As the picture of Zamien went back in place, she saw a cat that she had never noticed before, lying in a corner and staring at her without making a sound or moving. After staring back at it for a second she left the room and went back to her own room.
