In the early hours of the noon where the clouds hovered up in the sky without letting the sun's rays to pass through and touch the lands of Rhodes, crows settled in the nearest trees of the forest. Cawing to each other, but birds around the forest had reduced for some reason compared to the previous year. One would tell that the reason was because of the winter which was approaching quickly that made the birds migrate from one kingdom to another. But the question was, was that was really the reason or was there something else that was yet to be discovered.
With Zamien out of the palace as he usually was, Dessa sat in their room, still working on the scrolls she had obtained from the King's palace. Though right now she had given up on immediately finding all the answers she needed in just these scrolls. The two gardening books she had fought for with a pair of witches seemed very normal. The first was an odd book that talked on the gardening of onions and the other talked about the rules of gardening. She had studied the books for days, coming to different conclusions in her head and none seemed reasonable enough.
"Stay in the palace. No matter what do not leave. Do not let me worry." Those had been the words of Prince Zamien, before he left the room to go to only god knows where.
For a few days now, Dessa's and Zamien's dynamics had improved. Knowing that he knew of some of the things she had done and didn't seem to mind or comment, she was quite happy to live in this palace.
Picking up an ink bottle that was about to pour over on her bed, she stared at the transparent glass that made the blue ink inside look dark. Remembering the time when her white witch sister, Zarrina, had turned her other witch sister, Portia's potion from one color to another, she wondered if it was possible to do it to this ink bottle.
Bringing it closer to her face, she stared at it intently. Seconds passing by one after another to form a minute and more until she finally placed down the bottle. Nothing had happened for so many minutes and she wondered if she had not tapped that skill from her sister.
Residing to her fate, she smiled and stood up. It didn't matter to her if she could do all of the skills or not, what mattered was that she was strong enough to defeat Royall Estargon. Getting up from the bed, she raised her hands, stretching them before walking towards the open balcony where the curtains flew due to the breeze of the sea. Stepping out she was greeted by the air, her blonde hair flying furiously thanks to the wind. Tucking some strands of her hair behind her ear, she looked ahead of her at the vast water body that stretched endlessly. It made her ponder what was there on the other side of the water, could aquatic life really survive in the palace of the prince of Rhodes.
For a few minutes, the clouds that were in front of the sun moved, letting the sun rays shimmer on the water before it disappeared back again. Dessa then looked down, her hands holding the edge of the railings. The water constantly touched the walls at the bottom of the mansion. She leaned a little more forward to look down when she caught sight of the two windows which came one after another. Up until now, she hadn't really noticed but she had always thought there was only the ground floor and then the floor where she was in now and then the roof.
Dessa had been able to escape the fate of the slave establishment, mostly because she put herself out there, hoping to get the attention of the Queen. She had escaped a lot of bad things and lived a good life but sometimes luck wasn't in her favor.
While she was leaning forward looking at the mansion and the water, she had failed to hear the sound of someone calling her or talking to her. With her hand which had loosened on the railings and her feet that had raised itself to have a better look, someone from behind had pushed her.
Dessa in panic didn't realize what happened but she did realize that she hadn't just slipped and missed her footing. She could feel the rushing wind as she fell down right into the cold water with a loud splash sound.
Due to the force with which she fell into the water, her body submerged into the bubbles that formed around her body leaving a trail of whiteness before she was lifted back up. Her hands failed as she tried to keep herself above the water. Dessa tried to take a large amount of air into her mouth but all she got was water, making her choke as tried to keep herself afloat in the water she was surrounded in.
