Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Jessica's POV

I got out of the room, after I was done dressing and walked towards the kitchen which was just straight ahead. There sat Harry and Xavier talking about something and empty plates in front of them.

"It's your breakfast. You've fifteen minutes to finish them as the training starts in twenty minutes." Harry said looking at his watch and I just rolled my eyes. "You don't tell me how long I've got to do this and that. It's all up to me so stop ordering me around." I said before sitting down and stuffing my mouth with cereal.

"That's a pity though cause Damon told me if you were to ever go against the order or the schedule laid out by him, you won't get the meal planned out for you. I remember lasagna and roasted chicken was one of them." Harry hummed and walked away, making me look up at him with wide eyes.

"Where would you even get the chicken? Aren't we prohibited from going out where we could be seen by people?" "Only you, hon. I and Xavier are free to go out into the city as we please." I looked at Xavier who was sitting opposite to me and he smirked at me.

I haven't talked to him ever after I've reached this so-called hide-out and these bitches are having fun, ordering me around. I ignored his comments and continued eating my cereal. It didn't take long for me to finish my breakfast since I was starving.

"So, what now? What has my dear mentor got for me after my breakfast?" I asked Xavier and shot him a fake smile. "You have five minutes to brush your teeth and change into sportswear." He walked away as he said it and I rolled my eyes once again as I made my way towards my room.

I did as he asked because I felt somewhat intimidated in front of him as much as I hate to admit it. I took out a Nike black yoga pants and a shirt from my closet after brushing my teeth. I had my hair into a long ponytail that reached just above my waist line. After huffing out in annoyance that I ended up listening to the moody Xavier, I walked out of my room.

I raised my head to look around after checking my outfit to see two bulky men in nothing but trousers standing with their chiseled back in front of me. I am sure Rose would have drooled when she was in my situation but me being Jessica Knight, I wasn't fazed by their muscles that screamed testosterone.

"Ok. Let's get going." Xavier didn't even turn around as he walked straight ahead. "What got him in such a bad mood?" I whispered to Harry as I sprinted to catch his pace. At least he was kind enough to wait for me to catch up.

"Who knows? I bet he has been that way ever since the day he was born. Trust me, I've never seen Xavier smile for years." "Perhaps he should see a doctor then. Something must be wrong with his face muscles, right?" He snicked next to me and my eyes widened.

"Oh! There it is! IT CHUCKLES!" My sarcastic voice rang throughout the whole space as I yelled at Harry with my eyes sparkling with excitement. I have got no clue but I was very lively today.

Not being able to have Rose beside me, joking around got me sick so I thought it would be nice to joke around because why not, if I don't, I am sure I would be like these two who don't know the meaning of FUN.

"What?!" Harry asked incredulously and I grinned at him. "You're just like Xavier, if you haven't noticed. Grumpy, expressionless, and almost mute. Never have I ever guessed that I would get to hear you laugh. So, does that mean you're opening up to me or something?" I asked him and he just shrugged me off, walking far away from me with large strides.

I had to sprint to catch up with his pace. I tried so hard to catch up with his speed which made me unaware of the place we were heading to. By the time Harry stopped walking, I realized we were outside in the middle of the forest.

Chasing after Harry was long forgotten when a rabbit ran into me which made me grin like crazy. It was a small, white bunny with red eyes that looked up at me with curiosity. I almost died at its cuteness and couldn't help myself from stroking it and admiring it. I love fluffy stuff.

"Ok, time for warm up. We will start our training with running. Harry will be running with you to inspect you. Go on." Xavier instructed as he pocketed out his stop watch and stared at it.

"Fine." I grumbled under my breath as I started running to nowhere. He didn't even tell me I have to run and where to run so I guess it's all upto me. I could hear Harry following closely behind me and I sighed.

"Would you like to have a race?" Harry suggested and I shook my head. "No thanks. I will pass." "Do you have any idea how long we will have to run? I don't understand why you have to run with me." I asked Harry after running for a few minutes, which made me out of breath and barely able to talk to anyone.

"I am not sure how long but maybe till noon. And I am running with you in case you come across wild animals or people by accident." As soon as Harry said it, I stopped running and yelled at him.

"Till the freaking noon?! What the hell is he planning? Get me killed from exhaustion or from out of breath?! I am sure I will be killed because of this training, not because I met a beast or one of Luciano's men! Is he crazy?! How freaking he-" "No more talking. Your break is over. Now run!" I jumped in surprised when I heard Xavier behind me.

"What the fuck! How did you do that? You scared the freaking hell out of me!" I slapped his bare chest in annoyance but grimaced when I felt like I slapped a huge rock. "Shit!" I blew my red palm as if it would carry some of the pain away.

"Your break will be over in thirty seconds." he said and passed each of us a bottle of water. I greedily chugged down more than half of the water and tried to catch my breath. I swear to god, Xavier is the son of the Satan who was sent to torture me till death.

"Can we call it a day? I think it's enough to warm up for the day." I breathed out those words as I still tried to catch my breath.

"You're no one to decide if you had enough or not. You barely ran for thirty minutes and here you are taking a break. Look at Harry and yourself." I looked at Harry and he looked perfectly fine; he wasn't breathing as hard as I did.

Infact, he looked just like the normal Harry who just woke up a couple of minutes ago except his chest was glistening with sweat.

"Keep running. You will be having a break an hour and a half later. Get going." I was about to protest and whine but Xavier was nowhere in sight, making me groan in irritation. Please tell me why I signed up for this when I could have been sleeping in bed for hours?

We ran and ran, me cursing Xavier and my impulsiveness forever agreeing to this training. Harry raised his hand and stopped in his tracks, making me fall on my knees to catch my breath.

"I am a-" I squirmed under Harry's hold as he shut me up by placing his hand on my mouth. I glared at him and tried to pry it off my mouth but he shushed me.

"Be quiet, will you? Someone's here." When he said it, I stopped struggling and looked at where he was looking. I couldn't see anyone and frowned at Harry who was busy looking out.

"We have to get going." Harry whispered in my ear and I silently nodded at him. We were a few feet away from the spot when a familiar voice called out to me.

"Jessica? Is that you?"
