A man wearing a robe stood atop a cliff's edge. The wind howled in his ears as he looked out across an enormous city. The man couldn't help but sigh as he looked at it, his eyes conveying disappointment and a fleck of regret.
"If only you listened."
A figure appeared behind him out of nowhere, his arrival creating a ripple effect in the very air itself. The man's presence would have been suffocating to most others, however not for the man in the robe.
"You don't have to do this, we can still fix them." The newcomer tried to sound convincing, however, he pleaded with the man not for the city's sake, but rather the man's. The man in the robe turned around to reveal a young man's appearance, however, his eye's told a different story entirely.
"It is okay my friend. We have both witnessed what has happened here. For us to do nothing would be a crime in itself." The man couldn't help the tear that fell down his face. when it hit the earth beneath the man's feet, and vanished, so did his final bit of hesitance.
Three other figure's appeared beside the man, and all looked at him with silent questions. he shook his head as they watched the robed figure turn back to look over the city before, raising his hand and speaking. "...This must be done, my soul is a small price to pay..."
The four behind him all had sad look's as they watched the man's hand reach for the stars.
The first to appear spoke, before being mimicked by the rest. "Forever." "Forever."
The man in the robe's lip's lifted on the ends as another tear raced down his face. "And always." As the last word left his mouth, all the figure's dropped their heads.
The man's hand closed like he had grabbed hold of something before lowering his hand to his side.
The sky instantly turned dark, and the inhabitants of the city all cried out in fear. A name rushed through the inhabitants, so loud that the figure's on the cliff's edge could hear it. "Reaper."
"That used to be yelled in excitement, now it's yelled in fear. I wonder what it will be next."
The darkness of the sky seeped downwards towards the city until it was completely covered. The screams of the city suddenly went quiet, the four standing behind the man all knowing what that meant. the man muttered to himself as he watched the city. "Release."
The dark fog lifted back into the sky to reveal that nothing remained. The man stared out at the barren land, and couldn't help but feel tired. "I think I've lived long enough." The four behind him seemed confused, before rushing forward as the robed man took a step forward.
