Chereads / The Reaper of Souls / Chapter 3 - Death Beam

Chapter 3 - Death Beam

Zero fell backwards as the large beak of the creature started slamming its beak against the rooms window. Zero threw his hands up, receiving a black floating window. Zero didn't take the time to look at the window as the creature had already managed to nearly completely destroy the window. Zero turned towards his bathroom door and quickly sprinted towards it, the bathroom the only option he had left.

Zero ran into the bathroom, slamming the door and locking it behind himself. As Zero backed himself against the opposite wall, he quickly looked at the window he had received.

Zero was confused by what it meant by "Spell". There was a loud shattering sound, which Zero knew was the window breaking. Zero lifted his hands up to point at the door. He figured that the man he had met said he had great power, so it should show itself or he would die.

Zero flinched as a large beak busted through the bathroom door. Without a second thought, Zero "Willed" anything to happen through his hands. A burning rushed from his chest, raging down his arms before black light erupted out of Zero's hands. Zero's arms felt like they were burning from the inside out as the black light erupted from his hands, however he wasn't going to stop until he was sure he was safe.

As Zero's arm truly started to hurt, to a point he couldn't even hold them up anymore, he drop them. Zero looked on in shock as the bathroom door, as well as the wall of his hospital room was completely gone, a 10 foot circle blasted through it into the open air. Zero received another Window, but before he could look his whole body started searing with pain before he passed out.

"Gleguk!" "Gleguk!" Zero heard a screeching sound coming from above him, causing him to open his eyes. As he looked up, he was greeted with two green ugly looking men standing on either side of him. The first thing Zero noticed was that they weren't human, and that they were carrying knives. The one on the left looked down, Zero quickly closing his eyes before they saw that he was alive.

"Gleguk?" This time Zero heard the same word, only in a questioning tone rather then the screeching they had been doing moments earlier. Zero sat perfectly still, trying not to give away that he was awake, or alive for that matter when there was there was suddenly pain from his leg. Zero grimaced as he felt the pain move all the way up his thigh. Although he was in immense pain, he had learned to not react to the pain or the bullies would simply double down.

the pain finally stopped spreading after a louder, deeper screech came from the somewhere else in the building. Zero didn't tempt fait by opening his eyes until he heard the two quickly start running away. Zero opened his eyes, first lifting his hands incase he needed to recreate the blast from earlier, only to find that the two green figures were gone.

Zero quickly sat up, pain lacing through his body and looked at his left thigh, finding a stake knife sticking out of it. Zero quickly ripped the rest of his gown, his face paling as he saw that the stake knife had been stabbed into the bottom of the thigh, before being pulled to the top and was now seeping blood everywhere.

Zero started to panic, before remembering that the two green things could come back any moment. Zero stood, not putting any weight on his left leg before looking around. He was now out in the middle of the hallway area, finding the ripped apart body's had painted the entire room in an unsettling shade of red. The first thing Zero noticed was all the body parts were gone, at least those big enough to not be minced meat on the floor.

Just as Zero was about to search for bandages, he heard screeching from behind him. Zero looked in horror as the two small green things were charging at him. Zero raised his hands, willing the black beam to shoot out once more, only for a window to appear and nothing else to happen.

Zero quickly read the window as he tried to run away, only managing to loose more blood then his body could handle.

Zero instantly knew it was the truth, as he could feel a soft coolness in the rest of his body, only for the arms to be cold and dead feeling. Zero could feel the two monsters getting closer, so he doubled down his speed, the wound on his leg now a river of blood. An idea came to Zero, and he figured he was going to die anyway, so he went for it.

Zero jumped forwards, kicking out his good foot as he willed the spell to cast through his leg. Zero was suddenly thrown forward, propelled by the black beam that emerged out of his leg. Zero hit the ground hard, the stake knife hitting his bone before the handle snapped off as he collided with the ground.

Zero couldn't help the scream of pain that left his mouth as the knife slammed against his bone. Zero couldn't help laying there for over five minutes as he cried, the pain coupled with the dizziness of blood loss. Just when Zero was about to let himself die, he suddenly felt a pull from behind him. At first, Zero thought the pull was another green thing come to finish him off, however after a moment he realized the pull was coming from within him.

Zero, lifted himself, nearly to weak to do even that before turning around. There was a large five foot circle that went through multiple walls before Zero could see the outside sky through it. the thought that he should be mindful of the building collapsing crossed his mind before it vanished, the more pressing matters drawing his attention.

As Zero limped forward, he noticed there was grey shadows slowly floating around the room he had just been chased through. Zero was confused but still walked up to them and tried to touch them, his mind now delirious from blood loss. as his hand made contact with the grey shadow, it was suddenly absorbed into his hand before a window appeared.
