Chapter 7 - Arrested

"Thank you for the food!"

Nom. Nom. Nom.

Glenn watched the four kids eat the roasted boar within a few minutes. He was especially impressed by how much they could eat and how fast they could finish everything.

That boar was the size of a small car, and these kids ate them without even taking a break.

He learned their names while they were eating. The one he followed, the assassin, was named Felix. He is only seventeen years old and had a straight dark hair that was in medium length. He stand a couple of inches short Glenn who was six foot tall, so his height was about five feet eight inches.

Felix had a younger sister, who was sixteen and was the group's mage, named Cecil. She has the same hair color as her brother, but was long and reached up to her lower back. The siblings share the same dark blue eyes that looked good in the dark.

The red haired, dark brown eyed warrior of the group is named Don while the healer is named Patrick. Patrick had a dark green hair and had a pair of dark green eyes.

"You must've been so hungry," Glenn chuckled. "Let's go to the river and get some water. I bet you're thirsty too."

All four of the young Adventurers stood and bowed at Glenn, saying at once, "Thank you, Mr. Healer for saving us twice."

Glenn felt shy after seeing people praise him. As a salaryman, most of his work life was filled with scolding and more scolding. It was rare for his bosses to praise him even if he did an incredible job.

"You don't have to thank me," Glenn said. "What you have to do though, is drink some water. Drinking water is important."

Glenn led the youngsters into the creek. He took the stomach of the boar which he cleaned earlier and filled it with water. He then purified the water inside and let the children drink it.

"Wow," Felix said. "This is amazing. Thank you so much, Mr. Healer."

"You don't have to keep thanking me you know," Glenn said. "I'm only doing what's best for you."

Glenn didn't usually share sentiments to other people. He was used to being alone, living alone, and doing everything on his own. Even in high school when he had a group, he felt like an outcast.

"This water tastes great," Patrick commented. "Big Brother Healer, what level are you in now? I want to do the things you do too."

"Not all healers share the same skill set," Glenn said.

All of them tilted their heads to the side. "Skill set?"

"Oh," Glenn formed an O with his mouth. "I guess you don't know anything about being an Adventurer. Let's go back to the camp and I'll explain it to you."

Glenn led the kids back to his bonfire where they sat on one side while he was on the other. "Skill sets from different classes are different. We may have the same role, but we don't necessarily have the same class."

Cecil narrowed her eyes and pursed her lips. "Role? Class?"

"There are six roles namely, Mage, Warrior, Assassin, Tank, Healer, and Ranger," Glenn narrated. "These roles each have three classes within them. There are so many so I'll just tell you for the Healer which are Shaman, Priest, and Doctor."

"Oh," Patrick cheered. "I see it in my interface, I'm a Shaman!"

"Then we're the same class," Glenn smiled. "Later on, when you learn your skill Tree of Life, you can purify objects and even spirits."

"Woah," the kids gasped.

They were entertaining for Glenn, and he found their every little reaction adorable. They were like his little siblings that he never had. Those annoying kids that would run around the house naked and the older sibling would chase.

"Can we call you Big Brother Healer?" Cecil randomly asked, but Glenn agreed with a chuckle.

"So Big Brother Healer, I have another question," Don asked. Don was the yougest among the group who was only fifteen while Patrick was the oldest who was eighteen. "The heavens sent us to help the people here from evil, rigth? Why don't they treat us well?"

"That is what I am wondering too," Glenn confessed. "We are sent here against our will to defeat the darkness that is looming over this world, yet they seem to not want our aid."

"Can't we just go back to the heavens?" Cecil asked. "I don't like it here. I was too hungry and was even poisoned. The people here are also mean to me. I hate it."

Glenn snorted after hearing the young girl's rant. For the man, the girl was so adorable as she mumbled the worlds that she could barely pronounce.

"I'm sorry about Cecil, Big Brother Healer," Felix apologized. "I guess we're all just frustrated about how bad things got right after we got scammed by the merchants in the market."

Glenn knew where these kids' anger was coming from. He certainly knew more than anyone else that the people are tricking them and are toying with them. They even share the same script whenever they want anyone to eat the meat of the Iron Blue Bug.

It was frustrating to think about, but Glenn does not know what to do. He was still clueless about how this world works and was only aware of the flow of the game.

In God's Omen, there was a vague storyline that the player would follow. The main storyline does not necessarily affect the player's level, equipment or such. It only existed to keep the game interesting.

Even when the player do not achieve the final ending, the defeat of the Chaos Bringer, Zelehal, their strength would not be affected. The only true way to get stronger in God's Omen was to grind and grind.

This world, however, wants the Adventurers to follow the storyline. The main difference between the game and the world they are in now was that the storyline was shared by all of the Adventurers unlike on the game where the players would individually complete the main story.

"Don't worry, kids," Glenn smiled at them. "Things will get better."

Clank. Clank. Clank.

Glenn woke up to the sound of metal boots clanking. The sound was getting louder and louder, meaning the people who were wearing the boots are getting nearer.

"What's happening?" Glenn sat up only to see that he was surrounded by knights. One of the knights was riding a horse and it was none other than Melissa, the captain of Galaron Knights.

He was pulled by one of them and was dragged in front of Melissa where he was made to kneel.

"What are you doing to Big Brother Healer?" Cecil asked. She ran to where Glenn was but was pushed by one of the knights.

"That's a child!" Glenn growled. A knight took his staff and threw it away, while another took the shell of the Iron Blue Bug that he tied to his waist. "Hey!"

"Ma'am, this is the shell of the Iron Blue Bug that he used to poison the creek," the knight reported, making Glenn scoff.

"So, it's you?" Glenn asked. "You saw me purify the water and you said it was okay."

"I have no recollection of that account," the knight said. "Ma'am, he is guilty."

"Take him," said without remorse.

And Glenn was dragged by the knights to the town square.
