Shirley had decorated her little apartment a
small live Christmas tree and bouquet while Charlie purchased a synthetic pre-lit tree that glowed like the sun. Just as well.
She had implored him to host the family gettogether at his territory on Christmas Eve since hers was so small and underwhelming. She offered to perform all the cooking and had scheduled the menu, then realized what a primary task she had adopted.
Striving to excite everyone, she needed to incorporate both sets of family's vacation ceremonies and foods. Thank goodness her thoughtful fiancée wouldn't hear of her performing it alone and advised her to employ an additional pair of hands.
So here she was, in Charlie's penthouse, counting out the number of plates, mugs, and saucers. She was alleviated to notice the caterer had fetched a few more, just in case of breakage. Not that she anticipated dishes thrown like Frisbees, but one never realized.
