Natsuo POV
'I honestly can't believe I got into another fight, and over those stupid comments and insults! And like a fool; I fought with Haku-san's moronic sh*tface of a son and his group of stooges! Argh!'
" Argh! D*mn it!", I scream out; tears welling up in my eyes. " I can't believe it...I did it again...I'm such a...a-a fool...Tch...My parents aren't even around anymore...and the only d*mn home I had, I l-lost it...and for what?! For f*cking nought! D*mn it...D*mn it! D*mn it! D*mn it! D-d*mn it..."
My vision begins to blur and splotches of black begin decorating the edges of my vision. I did get beat up pretty d*mn badly as punishment, so I guess it's no surprise that I've lost a lot of blood. 'I wonder if this is how it's gonna end for me...Maybe I'll get to see my parents...if so...finally.' My vision finally goes black and the last thing I know is that, I'm falling...
Y/n POV
Before I head out from the family vacation cabin we booked, my mum yells " (Y/n), don't go too far, you hear me! And come back before dark!"
"Yes mum! Don't worry, I'll be safe and be back before dark!", is my reply. I turn to the forest, take a breath and begin my exploration.
Couple of trees in, I take out my trusty pocket knife from my bomber jacket's left arm pocket and begin marking the trees on my left. I repeat this every five trees; for safety sake as well as to ease my paranoia a bit. As I go further in, the beauty of nature further captivates and surrounds me. The dry leaves, in shades of orange, red and brown, crunch beneath my toffee brown ankle boots, while trees with their new green leaves encircle me. I hear the squirrels scurrying about and the lone eagle call out towards the horizon. A cool breeze blows through the trees, carrying with it a few dry leaves. The crisp evening air allows me to clear my head and to have a peaceful moment within nature's presence.
Out of nowhere a butterfly as big as my palm appears. It's unlike any that I've ever seen... The wings are a vibrant royal blue with black edges, that at some points curl into the royal blue. But the most fascinating thing is; the wings appear to have glitter on them. It starts flying away from me, I decide to follow it with my gut feeling. I wander after it though I still keep marking trees along the way. After a while, I notice the sky turning from orange-pink to midnight purple. I'm torn between following the creature or turning back, I decide to do the former; courtesy of my intuition. Besides I'm already this far, might as well take the plunge.
Eventually, I come across a clearing with knee-high grass that is still a bit of brownish green, with the moon beginning to rise. ' Mum's so gonna kill me when I get back.', I think, continuing to follow the eccentric butterfly. The moon formed a spotlight over a patch of the grass, the butterfly flying over to the spotlight and hovering there. Walking closer, I notice something that I hadn't before.
Splotches of red decorated some of the grass blades; blood I presume. I become hesistant however my curiosity urges me onward, forcing my fear and hesitancy to the back of my mind.
Continuing to walk closer, I finally spot the source of the blood... A boy my age, lying on his side, eyes closed but still breathing despite the amount of wounds he sustained and the puddle of blood around him.
"Sh*t!", is my first reaction to my discovery. I also notice there is a blood trail behind him but that doesn't concern me right now, his wounds do. I rip off my scarf from my neck and begin tying it around his abdominal wound. Shedding my jacket and my long sleeves, I take the long sleeves and tear it into strips and begin bandaging the wounds covering his arms and upper thighs. 'I wonder who did this to him. Besides it's kinda awkward bandaging his upper thighs...No, stop (Y/n), the poor guy's injured and here you are worried about things being awkward...Seriously; get a grip.'
Once I'm done, I sit him up and notice that the parts of his hair that aren't stained with blood, are actually a vibrant royal blue; much like the butterfly's wings.' I wonder what color his eyes are...No, c'mon (Y/n) '
But then I think and smile a little, 'But maybe the butterfly and him are related.'.
I stand up and sling his arm over my left shoulder. I nearly collapse from the sudden and unexpected weight on me, but I manage to stabilize myself and push forward to reach back to the cabin. On the way, a little burning sensation occurs on my left ring finger and in response, I hiss in pain. A second later, the blue-haired male; whom I shall now call Enigma-san; besides me grunts. I quietly apologise and keep moving on.
Finally, I reach the cabin and my mum is outside with a flashlight in hand. As soon as she hears me approach, she yells " What's wron- ", but stops midway, her eyes widening. She rushes over to Enigma-san and I and asks " Who is he?! Where did you find him?! Is he okay?! "
I respond " I don't know; in the forest clearing and I think he is fine for now but he needs help. He lost a lot of blood.". My mum helps me carry him into the cabin, while my dad is instructed to call the nearest hospital; only to find out that they can't reach us where we were and to make matters worse; we don't have any form of transport to at least meet them halfway. We were told that we had to unfortunately wait it out and see if he makes a full recovery. Though we were all doubtful; if in his current state; that he would make it at all...
My mum insisted that he be shifted to my room, as I have oh so kindly brought this person; in this state; to the cabin. I didn't argue with her because one: she could kill me and two: because the lounge area was a little more comfy and well; homey and I had a better view of the stars compared to my room.
So Enigma-san was shifted to my room and I stayed in the lounge. I was also responsible for taking care of Enigma-san; again, because I brought him to our vacation cabin. Eventually, after checking up on Enigma-san and seeing that there was no changes for the worst, I went to get ready for bed.
However before putting the lights off I noticed a black ring-like mark on my left ring finger. Examining it further, it looks more like a tatoo marking and had the exact same black edges curling in just like the butterfly; but in the middle of the two lines making the ring pattern is a name upside down. It spelled out 'NATSUO'. It's a strange marking but I'll worry about it tomorrow, and I switch the lights off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wake up early for some reason and I'm feeling restless; but it's not like I slept much anyway...'Maybe it's because I'm worried for Enigma-san. No matter', I think as I get off the makeshift bed to go freshen up, so I can finally eat. I make some breakfast for mum, dad, and myself ; hoping that Enigma-san made it through the night.
Leaving the breakfast for my parents on the kitchen counter, I go and check up on them; but they're still asleep. I then make my way to check up on Enigma-san; with my tray of breakfast. I open the door softly and step into the room. Holding my breath and crossing whatever I can; I hope and pray that he didn't just die on me. I mean I worked so hard to just get him here last night too, plus I even bandaged his wounds; so I really don't want all of my hard work to be in vain.
As I fully step into the room, I keep my eyes focused on the tray of breakfast I'm carrying but I manage to feel someone stare at me. Puzzled I look up, only to freeze in shock. I find sparkling violet eyes staring into my own (e/c) orbs.
Clearing my throat, I say " Hi, I'm really glad that you're alive and awake and I'm hoping that you're feeling better; well as much as you can in your current state; Enigma-san... Oops; t-that's actually my personal nickname for you since I don't your real name, and~ it wasn't supposed to slip, but I am silly sometimes and...Ah, I'm rambling, I apologise, I didn't mean to-... Ok, you know what? I'm just gonna shut up now.", I see a ghost of a smile on his lips from my silly antics. 'Oh mah gawd! His smile is such a sight for sore eyes! No! No, no, no, no; be quiet creepy, psycho (Y/n)!'
I give a small smile in return. Placing the tray on the bedside table, I turn to walk away to make breakfast again for myself, when Enigma-san speaks " My name's...Natsuo, Natsuo Kobayashi. I'm fine, thanks. But, if you don't mind telling me; exactly where am I? And who's...", he pauses to look towards his left hand; and there on his ring finger is a similar marking to mine, that I just noticed. He continues " Who's (Y/n)?"
(A/N: I hope you are enjoying my book so far :) )
