~(Y/n) POV~
The walk to the cabin is silent with the three supernaturals trailing behind me. We are about a mile to the cabin. I just can't wait to have a shower and collapse on my make-shift bed on the couch. I sigh just thinking about it. Glancing behind me, I notice Ezra is in his thoughts, Shū humming and Natsuo gazing infront of him, though not really either. 'I wonder how many other supernaturals there are?' Voicing my thoughts, Shū answers, "Well, there are definitely over eighty different types of supernaturals minus the different types of hybrids. Just so you know. Math was never and will never be my strong point so don't go expecting me to give you a cumulative number of the types of supernaturals out there.", he says before sheepishly chuckling. I smile.
Ezra chimes in, "Well, I'm not that great at math either, but I'm certainly not as hopeless as these fools around me." Natsuo growls, Shū whining and pouting, "Don't be so smug about it~, Ez!" In response, Ezra chuckles, "But it is a fact." I smile wider at their bickering. Natsuo and Shū begin hurling anger-filled child-like threats at Ezra. He clears his, "Anyways~, before we drifted off the topic to clarify our different mathematical capabilities, I was gonna say that there are over six thousand eight hundred different species of supernaturals including the hybrids." I nod, "That's a lot." Ezra nods as Shū suddenly flings himself against him, making Ezra stumble and scold Shū. Shū whines but apologizes and goes to stand normally.
"Just a little bit more and the cabin should be up ahead.", I say. All three nod. I'm surprised that Natsuo even acknowledged my words. Cue le internal shocked face. A thought crosses my mind, making me stop. Ezra and Shū come to stand beside me, both simultaneously asking, "What's wrong, (Y/n)?" Before I can reply, Natsuo opens his mouth, "It's probably nothing guys. She's just overreacting." The other two glare at him, causing him to stop and grumble, " Fine. Forget I said anything." Their glares harden. Natsuo whines, "What more do you guys want from me~?!"
Shū scolds, "An apology would be nice." Natsuo flatly stares at him. Nothing else is said for a few seconds. "No. I won't apologize to her. Not happening.", Natsuo finally says. Ezra growls, "Do it before I kick your a**!" Natsuo groans before saying, "Fine. I'm sorry, okay? There, I apologized. Now let's go." He begins to walk but stops again when Ezra growls, "Sincerely." Natsuo deadpans at Ezra. "Seriously?" Ezra nods. He groans again, "That was sincere. Sincerely annoyed. That's all you're getting from me. So be happy you even got me to say sorry."
I shrug turning away from him, and face the two beside me. They're still staring at Natsuo, so I clear my throat. They all turn towards me now, "There's one more thing; what do we tell my parents about you guys and...how that guy," I gesture towards Natsuo, ",miraculously healed all his wounds?" The said male, growls, "I have a name. Use it." I turn to face him once more, "I could but then again; I really don't wanna waste my energy acknowledging you by name." Turning around, I begin walking again. There is a pair of rushed footsteps that turns into running behind me. Eventually I see Natsuo pass me only to stop ahead of me, blocking my way. "Move. You're in the way.", I say. "No.", is his immediate reply back.
I cross my arms, sighing in hopelessness, 'This guy...' He growls, "What's your problem?!" I scoff, "My problem?! Please! You're the only one with a problem here. So stop being childish and get out of my way." Moving to walk around him, I don't succeed as I'm pulled back by a vice-grip on my upper arm that leaves tingles, despite the harshness of the hold. "Stop brushing me off! Listen! I didn't ask for a mate! Nor did I expect one! That too, someone like you to top it off! But here we are! I want nothing to do with you and it f*cking sucks that I'm bonded to you to begin with. I honestly would be better off with you dead! Heck! Everyone here would!" At this Shū and Ezra are both growling and taking slow steps towards us. Both are shaking with visibly restrained anger.
Natsuo continues, "If that rejection bullsh*t actually existed, believe me, I would've rejected you right when I knew who you were to me." That empty feeling has returned. I feel hollow. 'So it must be because of his words... But I've never had been affected by words before though...so it is the bond between us then. It has to be. But to be honest, I also want nothing to do with him. I never asked for this. How can this jerk be my mate? Why him, God?'
That empty feeling is now turning into a burning hot anger. Using it, I glare at Natsuo, "Listen here, you neanderthal, I also want nothing to do with you. It's getting old and very annoying to hear you keep repeating your complaints about this situation over and over. And it's equally annoying to repeat myself. So for the last time. Grow up. Everyone here in this world has their own stuff going on but you don't see us complaining. So. Suck. It. Up. Buttercup. And another thing, for once do something constructive with your life and help solve the issue if what story to tell my parents about your wounds simply vanishing." I see Ezra and Shū nod their head in agreement in the corner of my eye. Natsuo furrows his eyebrows in thought, looking down at his feet. 'Probably contemplating another way to make this my fault.', I roll my eyes at the thought, which is very likely true.
Natsuo sighs, grumpily saying, "We could say that the wounds were actually shallow and because of my predicament at the time, it caused the wounds to remain open and continue to bleed. That made it look like the wounds were more severe than they were." Natsuo finishes, raising his head to look at me. I'm shocked, 'Huh. He actually listened. Wow.' It is now his turn to roll his eyes at me, "Well?" I snap out of my shock and nod. "That is the most plausible excuse in this situation, so we just have to hope they believe it." Another issue occurs to me, though; "But it is impossible for wounds to suddenly heal so soon and even more so, close up with no scabs. This could pose an issue." "What is it with you finding problems with everything I do?", Natsuo snaps, glaring at me.
I sigh, "That's not it, you idiot." He growls at the insult but I just roll my eyes. Roughly exhaling, I state, "I'm just being realistic and thinking about it from all sides. Something you should learn to do too." "Fine. Whatever.", Natsuo grumbles out, glancing to his right. He then sighs defeatedly, "I guess you do have a point...So we could injure me in the same places again and by tuning more into my fallen angel lineage, I can maintain the inguries and have them scab." I nod, "That would do nicely. Let's do it."
He nods back, however we both turn to at the sounds of approaching footsteps. We see Ezra and Shū finally walk up to us, Shū commenting, "It's nice to see you guys working together to find a solution to the problem, albeit begrudgingly. But considering how you guys were always shouting at each other, I'd say that this is an improvement." Ezra nods confirming this. I shrug, "Guess I didn't notice." Natsuo, though, decides to go back to being annoying, "Don't get it wrong, you two. I'm still not happy with...this.", he gestures to me. I glare at him, 'I'm not happy about you either buddy.' He continues, "This is just to protect those not involved." I scoff, "You really are an idiot. I'm involved so therefore by definition, my parents are too!"
I hear Ezra mutter, "They're back at it again...", Shū sweatdrop before he nods in agreement. I don't get to focus long on them before Natsuo retorts, "Then by all means, get them involved further. But when people start hunting your parents down to get to me and you, don't blame me."
"But even if they don't get involved further in this mess, I'm still related to them. That means they will still get attacked! You're not making any sense, Natsuo!", I counter. "That's why you have to leave them!", he yells back. Taking a couple of steps back from shock, I only manage to stutter, "I...what?"
"You heard me.", he now quietly says. Ezra chimes in and both our heads snap to face him, he winces at the movement. "She actually doesn't have to.", Ezra says. A puzzled look crosses Natsuo's face, "What do you mean, Ezra?" Ezra continues, "Meaning that we can enlist the help of a witch. I happen to know a guy who can help us. So, what do you guys think?", glancing between Natsuo and I. I swallow thickly, "Anything. As long as I get to stay with my parents." Natsuo grits out, his eyes shadowed, "Now that's just being selfish. They could die because of your choice. Will you be able to handle that fact? That they died due to being around you, around us. Do you think you can even handle the guilt, the thoughts that comes with it, (Y/n)?"
I'm left speechless. Before I could even form a reply of some sort, Natsuo goes to stand away from me, resting against a tree, staring off into space. "C'mon, let's hurry this up, the wounds need to be made so that I got enough time for it to scab.", Natsuo monotonously says. Shū nods walking over to Natsuo, "Right. I'll help. Let's go on a little ahead from here." Natsuo silently follows, without sparing a glance my way, leaving Ezra and I on our own. 'Am I really being selfish?'
