"No. I am just a post girl. I need to give it to someone else," said Yuana. She didn't want Tiana to know. It could be hilarious later. Tiana couldn't keep her mouth shut. It didn't mean to gossip, but she liked to tell whatever she knew to others.
"Think of a love token gift!" Tiana chuckled. Yuan smiled. She kept the package again.
English teacher came to class. Lesson began. Because of the package, there was an unpleasant feeling in Yuana's heart. Several times Thomas turned to her, giving the code that Yuana thought he wanted to confirm about the package. Yuana just shrugged, didn't understand, because she hadn't opened the package yet.
"I'll just meet Manfred," said Yuana.
As soon as the bell came home rang, she quickly headed for Manfred's class afraid that the boy would come home. It was right, Manfred just got out of class. Yuana called him, taking the boy to the cafeteria. It was better to talk there.
"What's the matter, Yuan?" asked Manfred curiously.
"I got this." Yuana took the package out of her bag. Yuana put it on the table. "From Thomas."
"Why didn't you open it?" Manfred began to guess what the package was.
"I am afraid," said Yuana.
"Why? It can't be the bomb. Just open it," joked Manfred.
Yuana pouted. She opened the package. It contained a cute stuffed dog and a letter.
"Read the letter," said Manfred.
Yuana opened the letter and read it. Her eyes widened, her face flushed. Manfred looked at Yuana who was also looking at him with a strange face.
"Thomas … he likes me." Yuana said.
"Yu, you have to talk to Bobby. Not me. Bobby is your boy. Whatever, you have to be honest with him," said Manfred.
"But if Bobby gets mad? If he thinks I ..."
"It means you don't know Bobby. Bobby won't do that. Just talk to him. I guarantee he can handle it well," said Manfred.
"Alright. Thank you, Fred." Yuana smiled.
They left the cafeteria.
"I'm home, Yu. See you tomorrow." Manfred turned towards the school gates and Yuana towards the basketball court, Bobby had practiced there.
"Yuan, I hope you are happy with Bobby. Keep it open and happy. I know Bobby can make you strong," whispered Manfred's heart. He suppressed the deeper affection for Yuana.
While Yuana was sitting on the sidelines. Once or twice, Bobby waved his hand to Yuana. And Yuana just smiled at him. Yuana enjoyed looking at Bobby playing basketball. He was a very good player. No wonder he became the head of the school basketball team.
After training and cleaning up, Bobby approached Yuana.
"It's a pleasure you wait for me practicing, honey," Bobby joked.
Yuan laughed. It sounded funny hearing Bobby saying honey. "Drink?" Yuana handed Bobby a drink bottle.
Bobby accepted and immediately drank quite a lot.
"Do you want to go home together?" Bobby sat next to Yuana.
"I wanna tell you something." Yuana took out a letter from her bag and she gave it to Bobby.
Bobby accepted it, read it, turned to look at Yuana.
"How?" said Yuana.
Bobby didn't answer. He opened the cellphone and showed Yuana the chat he got. From a girl and she said she liked Bobby.
"How?" Bobby asked back.
"If you love me, you will say no," answered Yuana.
"And you will do the same." Bobby smiled.
"Bob! Come on!" Niar appeared. As soon as she saw Yuana, she stopped in her tracks.
"Where?" asked Yuan. Her eyes were sharp, Niar's sense of lethality.
"No, nothing. Maybe next time." With a frown, Niar left Bobby and Yuana.
Bobby ruffled Yuana's hair excitedly. "Hmm, still fierce ..."
Yuan laughed. She smoothed her hair with both hands.
"On the one hand, I feel sorry for Niar," said Bobby. Yuana looked at Bobby. "She's always looking for attention from people around her. I think she has it all she needs in her life, but she doesn't get the attention and love she expects at home."
It turned out that Bobby could see another side of Niar. Yuana did not think about it. If true, it seemed that Niar and Yuana had the same life story. But Yuana was lucky, Bobby liked her, no loved her.
"Are we going?" Bobby picked up his backpack and stood up. Yuana also stood up and put her bag on her shoulder.
The two of them walked out of the school.
*****
That afternoon Yuana was already tidy. She waited for Bobby to pick her up. And Yoel was at home. Yuana tried to chat with Bobby but he didn't reply. Maybe he's on his way. Yuana wonder why Yoel was at home that afternoon. Usually, he would go before four o'clock.
"Why is he at home, anyway? He'll be mad if he knows Bobby picked me up." Yuana thought. She got restless.
For three months Yuana often went with Bobby on Saturday afternoons. Mostly they went to church. Yoel was not at home, always. Her father and mother wouldn't care if she was at home or not. They rarely came home.
Bobby had arrived at Yuana's house. He parked his motorbike and headed for the open front door.
"Excuse me ..." Bobby stood at the door. She saw a young man in the house.
Yoel in surprise looked at the boy in front of his house. "Yeah?"
"I want to see, Yuana. Is she there?" Bobby said calmly.
"Who are you?" Yoel stood up and stepped towards Bobby.
"I'm Bobby. I'm Yuana's friend." Friendly and polite Bobby answered.
Yoel's gaze grew sharper. He remembered the boy was one of the guys who had been out with Yuana.
"What do you want?" Yoel's question sounded cynical.
"We have an appointment to go out together this afternoon." Bobby remained calm in answering.
"Are you dating Yuan?" Yoel looked sharper.
"Yes, I am." Bobby nodded.
"Who did give you permission to date her?" Yoel said furiously. "I'm her brother. I need to know what kind of guy she chooses."
"I love Yuana. It's impossible for me to do anything wrong to her," said Bobby.
"How sweet your words," objected Yoel. He thought how dare also the boy answering him. "Quickly get out of this house." Yoel pointed to the door.
"I have an appointment with her. So, I have to meet Yuan." Bobby was firm but calm.
"You are so insolent." Yoel raised his hand and almost slapped Bobby.
"Yo! Stop it!" Yuana ran and pulled their Bobby hands away from Yoel.
Yoel was surprised and looked at Yuana quickly.
"You have no right to hurt him. I do love him. And I want to go with Bobby." Yuana looked at her brother.
"Love?" Joel Sneered. "You love somebody else but you don't love your brother?"
"Even if I love you, will you want to know?" said Yuana. "Whatever. I don't feel you love me either."
Yuana turned to Bobby. "Let's go, Bob." Yuana walked out of the house. Bobby followed her.
"Hey, where are you damn going!?" Yoel snapped.
"Calm down. We are going to church," answered Yuana.
Suddenly, Yoel was silent. He didn't know what to say. He was furious with Bobby because he was afraid her sister would do something weird. It turned out that they were actually learning to be good people.
Bobby and Yuana rode out of the big and magnificent house.
"Aren't you afraid of Yoel?" asked Bobby.
"At first I was a little scared. But I have to be able to face him," said Yuana.
"I think he's really worried about you. He doesn't want you to get hurt." Bobby's conclusion after seeing Yoel's attitude towards him.
Yuana was silent hearing that.
"Next time I want to meet your mom and dad." Bobby continued.
"What for? They're almost never home. It won't matter for them to know who I'm friends with," said Yuana.
"After all, they are still your parents. I have to respect them. When we get married, I will be the son-in-law." Bobby smiled.
"Geez, it's still a long way, Bob. We're still in high school." Yuana shook his head.
"Why? Nothing wrong with thinking about the future." Bobby was getting serious.
Yuana laughed. Was Bobby that serious of her?
"You have a good family, Bob. Your father is a successful doctor. You are an only son. Their love for you is poured out." There was a sense of sadness when talking about family.
"Are you complaining? Yuan, each family has its own problems. God allows it so that we don't rely on ourselves. There is a God who will help us." Bobby always had an answer and it was true.
Yuana listened to everything Bobby said.
Bobby said that he and his father were not very close. His father's character was a bit harsh. While Bobby was proud of his father who worked hard and was dedicated to his profession and family, Bobby couldn't match him in some ways. His mother always gave in to what her father said.
Yuana was silent. Yes, it turned out that Bobby also had his own burdens. But he could handle everything with joy.
Yuana was even more proud of Bobby. And she could learn a lot from Bobby how to deal with life. Yuana was grateful, Bobby was with her. Hopefully, she would always be with Bobby. Why not if later she married the great young man?
Yuana smiled, grateful.
