Chapter 4 - Niar

After school that afternoon, Bobby stopped Manfred and asked him to talk. They sat near the basketball court.

"Fred, you must know why Yuana had her hair cut. It must be something happened. She really likes her long hair. I'm sure you know but Yuana asked you not to talk to me," Bobby said.

"Okay, I'll tell you." Manfred also told what happened to Yuana.

Bobby was flabbergasted to hear all that. It turned out that Yuana was really unfortunate.

It was Manfred's chance to talk to Bobby so he could express his love for Yuana again and ask her to be his girl.

"Are you sure Yuana will accept me?" Bobby turned to Manfred. Several times he revealed the side of his heart, Yuana always refused.

"Now we are in high school. I think she is ready." Manfred furrowed his brows with a broad smile. He was a little sure Yuana would open up.

"Okay, I'll try to talk to her." Bobby nodded. There was a gentle pounding in his heart.

"Good." Manfred smiled.

"No wonder Niar was calm this morning when she saw me. She is my classmate. It's really bad luck," Bobby said, shaking his head.

"Just ignore her. You don't need to be upset," said Manfred. Bobby smirked.

Manfred saw Yuana walking towards the school gate. Manfred elbowed Bobby. "See, get her, it is the time."

Manfred picked up his backpack and quickly left. Bobby was in action.

"Yuan!" called Bobby while chasing Yuana. Yuana stopped waiting for Bobby.

"Are you still here? Where's Manfred?" Yuan smiled.

"Manfred got back home," said Bobby. "I need time to talk to you."

"What's the matter, anyway?" asked Yuan.

"Sit over there, come on." Bobby invited Yuana to sit in the school garden.

"Yu, I'm still thinking about our relationship. I still love you. I want to be your boyfriend." Bobby slightly pounded feeling also told his heart, even though it was the umpteenth time.

Yuana looked at Bobby. "I, well, do you believe I will love you?"

"I will love you. If you don't love me, that's okay. I will make you be able to love me, "said Bobby.

Yuana smiled, then looked down. She didn't know how, suddenly her heart beat faster. A faint smile appeared on her lips.

"So, my girlfriend?" Bobby asked.

Yuana saw Bobby, then nodded.

"Thank you." Bobby smiled.

The two of them were silent, but their hearts exploded. Finally, dating!

"Yu, promise me one thing." Bobby broke the silence between them.

Yuana looked at Bobby, waiting for what Bobby would say.

"We will be honest each other. So that we can understand and support each other." From the beginning Bobby wanted this to be their commitment.

Yuan nodded. "Okay."

Bobby smiled again. He stood up. "Shall we go home?" said Bobby.

Yuan also stood up. They both left school.

"Bobby, it's my sister's birthday, we'll have a celebration tonight. There's an exciting event. Please, come. " Niar approached Bobby. They were in class that day.

"Tonight?" Bobby asked without turning his head. His hands were busy writing in his book.

"Yup," said Niar.

"Sorry, I can't. I already have an appointment with Yuan," Bobby continued.

"Yuan again? Come on, Bob, just this time," said Niar.

"I can't. I have to keep my promise," said Bobby.

"What's so good about going with her? I invite you for a fun time, going to the party. With me, not with the less slang Yuan." Niar pouted.

"She wants to be less slang or not, there's no problem. As a boyfriend, I accept her the way she is. Understand?" Bobby closed the book.

"Boyfriend? Are you dating her?" Niar widened her eyes slightly surprised.

"Yes. So don't bother me anymore. Look for those who are still single," said Bobby.

Niar was getting more upset. "Your girlfriend or not I don't care. Yuan never existed to me."

Bobby shook his head in annoyance. He took out another book pretentiously busy with his work.

Annoyed, Niar returned to her seat. Just then Mr. Santo entered the class. Lesson started immediately.

Finally, there was bell a sign of going home roaring. The children rushed out of the classroom. Some were hungry, some had appointments to watch movie, some had to attend school to do activities after school. Bobby casually walked out of class. He was among the last to leave his class.

A spoiled call came from behind Bobby. He pretended not to hear. Niar again!

"Bobby …" Niar took Bobby in her arms. Again, Niar persuaded Bobby to come to her sister's birthday party.

Bobby still firmly refused, though it was not fiercely. He continued to walk towards Yuana's class.

"You are selfish. You are not gentle. Because one girl you don't want to pay attention to your other friends!" Finally, out of frustration, Niar snapped at Bobby.

"I'm not stupid, Ni. If I come to your sister's party and people will see me as your boyfriend. I can't use it as a spare," said Bobby, remaining calm.

"So pious, huh? It's because of Yuan that you're so big!" Niar was getting angry.

"Ahhh!!!" Niar screamed in pain. Someone grabbed her arm roughly. Niar turned around in shock! Yuan?!

"Hey … listen, if Bobby can be patient with you, you're still in luck. Don't expect me to be patient now. Once more, if your mouth is talking carelessly, I will destroy your face!" Yuana snapped. It's time for Yuana to defend her rights. It was enough so far, she was considered weak.

"Oh, can you be fierce now?!" Niar was angry and glared at Yuana. "Listen! I won't stop ruining your relationship with Bobby. I don't even let anyone near you.

"Aha … how special I am to youI Until you are busy taking care of my life! Thanks a lot ..." said Yuana. Yuana's hand grabbed Niar's hair as hard as she could.

"Ouch! Ooooh!!" Niar was in pain again.

"Yuan!" Bobby moved, he pulled Yuana's hand to let Niar go.

"I am going to report you to teacher!" said Niar. Her face was red with pain and wanted to cry.

"Do it if you dare. If you're not shy, go ahead. We're all open. A beautiful girl who is a classy and honorable person turns out to have no ethics, a foul mouth and likes to take care of other people's lives?!" Yuan pouted.

"You!!! Ahhh ...!!!" With great anger Niar left the place. With her hands on her waist, Yuana smiled broadly.

"Hey ... my girlfriend turns out to be sadistic when she's angry," said Bobby. He smiled with a surprised look.

"Time to revenge. She can't do anything to me, I guarantee. Should I do it since we were in junior?" Yuana followed Bobby's steps.

"Why revenge? That's not good. No problem, if you want to fight her. But not revenge, it's not good to keep wounds in your heart. It could be a disease," said Bobby.

They walked down the hall to the classroom.

"Yu, where are you going on Saturday evening?" Bobby asked.

"Just at home." Yuan answered flatly.

"Come with me, come on," said Bobby.

"Where? Saturday evening?" Yuan turned around. Bobby taking a walk? Yuana's face brightened.

"Usually, I go to church. There are youth activities there," answered Bobby.

Yuana was quite surprised to hear that. Bobby had other plans.

"If you'd like, come on. I'll pick you up later," Bobby said.

"Manfred coming?" Yuana asked again.

"Yeah, Manfred too." Bobby smiled.

"Hmm, okay." Yuana's smile widened sweetly.

Bobby smiled wider. "Saturday, I pick you up at four. "

The day was getting hotter. But for Bobby and Yuana it was very fun.

*****

"Thanks, God, for great days I have these days," said Yuana. "Bless this family … mom and dad, also Yoel, take care and protect them."

Spending days with Bobby made Yuana excited. At school, participating in church activities, all made Yuana more appreciative of the life God has given her. Yuana enjoyed and was grateful for every day she passed. Even though at home the situation did not improve, Yuana was no longer angry with the situation. Of course, she hoped that her parents would be better in their relationship. Yoel too, Yuana wanted her brother to be better.

Yuana took a towel and entered the bathroom. She was getting ready for school that morning. Half an hour later she was ready. Yuana went to school by public transportation because the school was not too far from home.

Arriving in class only a few minutes, the bell rang. Yuana went to her seat. She sat next to Tiana. Tiana was friendly and loved to tell stories. Much time she could make friends laugh.

Yuana opened her desk drawer. She looked something there, a small package. Yuan took it.

"For Yuana. Thomas." Yuana read the writing on the package. "Thomas?" Yuan frowned. Thomas was one of the smartest kids in the class, but he was quite stubborn. Why did he give the package for Yuana?

"What is that, Yu?" Tiana asked. She noticed the package in Yuana's hand. "Present? Is it your birthday?"
