Darrell had no choice but to grit his teeth from being demanded to submit. Basil, despite already being part of the pack elders, was still the previous Alpha as well as Darrell's father.
"Think. You are an Alpha. Even though you wanted revenge, it won't be good to sacrifice lives because you knew nothing of the enemy and still end up losing!" Basil shouted.
He then added, "Think! Since they could afford something that is hard to make and very expensive, that means they have more resources than what we have! Just the research alone for this unfamiliar type of silver requires a lot of money. Don't be impulsive!"
Darrell pursed his lips. His eyes shifted towards his mate, who was still lying in the hospital bed, unconscious. "I won't..." He said eventually.
"You can't afford to be impulsive. The fact alone that one of them managed to get into our territory without anyone noticing is already alarming. Aside from the advanced weapons that they have, there was hearsay that the clan was blessed with the original Blood Hunter. Many said that they have gifts and have the supernatural strength to go against all supernatural beings bare-handed."
Darrell frowned, "Is it really the case?" He asked. Though he heard about this as well, there was no proof yet.
The treaty between Hunters and Supernaturals might be considered thin as ice, but it still exists.
There was a tacit understanding to not cause trouble to each other's territory else war would break.
Just like what the Council might be discussing later.
"Regardless of the truth, it is better to be prepared. You cannot just go against them on your own now. That is where the Council came in. This was not only a threat to the werewolf community but also all the Supernaturals." Basil knew that Darrel would be able to realize this eventually.
Not this moment, though, since he was still not in the right mind.
So he continued, "That is why it would be better get up and go for the meeting for it to end quickly go fight for your mate, fight for your family your life."
Darrell was silent for a while. He then closed his eyes. His jaw was moving sideways as he clenched his teeth.
Basil could also see his son's heavy breathing as he tried to calm down his wolf. It must be an internal struggle.
When Darrell opened his eyes, his look was more human compared to earlier. "Dad, I need your help. Please stop me if you think I am making a mistake." He said as if he didn't trust himself at this time.
With a nod, "Of course. That is my job." He said truthfully.
With that, Darrell gets up and goes to his house. He washes his face and puts on some fresh clothes. It did not take him that long to finish and look presentable.
He then goes to the meeting where his parents were welcoming their entire guest. He enters the room wearing his usual cold face.
The room was silent as everyone looked at him as he sat at the chair between his parents.
After everyone had settled down, Darrell stood up. There was silence as everyone waited for him to say the reason every member of the Council was summoned in such a hurry.
"Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you for coming on such short notice. The reason you were called here is that, as you may have had, my wife was attacked by a hunter. We believe that the culprit was from the Arawn Hunter Clan. Now she is in a coma and has also lost my pup! If they could do it in my territory, there was no guarantee that they won't do it in you too!" Darrell started, his voice booming with pressure.
Darrell continued, "I have decided to go after them. I want revenge for my mate and pup. Because of this hunter, I was not able to see my firstborn. I want them to suffer and feel the pain that I am feeling now," he said full of frustration and pain and his voice cracking to some point.
He was acting not like the usual imposing Alpha. Now, Darrell was just a mate who lost his other half.
Everyone was silent. Not anyone could really make fun of him at this time.
With him like this, Basil decided to speak for him. "I believe that you all know the reason you are here. Yes, we mainly needed your help for revenge. However, we also knew the great impact of this attack. Hunters are a danger to everyone in this room, and they are very strong, and they also have gifts. This is a known fact since they exist to keep us, Supernaturals, in check. Yet, years went by, and they became our enemies," He said seriously.
