Melvyn gave him a pointed look that shut him up. The Vampire leader then looked at Basil, "I have come across one of these Arawn before. That was so many years ago. However," He paused as if reminiscing the past.
Melvyn continued thoughtfully, "That was the first time I met someone that made me run instead of fighting. Well, I was still a young Vampire back then. That is very much understandable, isn't it?" He asked as if Melvyn was defending why he did that.
After he said that, the atmosphere in the room turned stiff.
Even if Melvyn was young, then, how many years have passed?
They all knew that the Vampire Lord was one of the oldest Vampires that is still around.
"Lord Melvyn, please don't mind me asking. Can you tell us more about the encounter?" One of the Alphas in the room asked cautiously.
Melvyn tilted his head as if thinking, "Now that I think about it, that hunter is really different. He emits a very strong aura as he is not human. Yet, that hunter smells and clearly is human. Probably he more? Perhaps, if I did not see his hunter emblem and introduced himself as someone from the Arawn clan, I would not know and think that he is another type of supernatural that I have not seen before." He explained.
Despite speaking a lot, Melvyn was removing a lot of details, in all honestly. He did not mention the most important part. Melvyn did not mention that the fight was one versus twenty.
It was one human hunter to fight and eventually won against twenty vampires at that time.
"Now I remember, all leaders are called Arawn in that clan, right? That Arawn man must be called the first or the second that time since they were not much information on them before," Melvyn thoughtfully said.
There was a very long silence after that since there was already a lot to consider about what Melvyn had said.
"What's taking you so long? It's just a bullet that smells like dirty blood," Melvyn said to Ursula suddenly.
Darrell growled, "What do you mean, dirty blood?" He asked as he was offended. It was a bullet that hurt his mate. The blood was also from his mate. "Is the Vampire Lord telling us that my mate's blood is dirty?" He asked challengingly.
Melvyn rolled his eyes when he heard Darrell, "I don't want to talk to the emotional wolf. Ursula, explain to him."
"Don't command me," Ursula hissed, "The bullet itself was mixed with blood. I don't know if it is the one on the file that was unknown. Blood should be very easy to detect, but I don't see any on the file."
"There is really blood there?" It was now Basil's turn to ask in confusion. He picked up a copy of the file himself and scanned through it. Right! There was no mention of blood!
"Lord Melvyn, why did you say it is dirty blood?" Basil could not help but ask demandingly.
Melvyn frowned, "Are you now an overly emotional wolf as well? Alpha Basil, as someone older than you, listen to my advice. Do not let your emotion get a hold of you. Wolves have its beast side. The more emotional you are, the more it will be hard for you to control your wolf side," He said, reprimanding.
"Of course. Apologies," Basil replied through clenched teeth. Despite Melvyn sounding like an elder, Basil still feels that the Vampire Leader was dragging things.
Melvyn smiled, "Good that you know," He approvingly said before he continued to speak, "for me, any type of blood that is smelly is dirty. That bullet gives that smell. It might not be something others would notice, but any Vampire will."
"He is right. Witches can also sense it if they have encountered it before," Ursula said before she released a deep sigh, "How many bullets were there?" She asked.
"There are eight," Clive replied cautiously. He was not far from Darrell, and he knew that hearing this would cause his alpha to be furious.
Ursula nodded curiously but did not speak.
"Leader Ursula, is there something you want us to know?" Basil inquired.
She released a heavy sigh again. "I am not sure yet. I need to return and check the old scripts. However, the aura coming from the bullet is something only dark magic can produce."
"Dark magic?" Darrell asked. "What are you talking about?"
Ursula looked at him with sadness. "Alpha Darrell, I am not sure yet. I do not want everyone to think the worse. Please do not force me," She said softly.
"Tell me," Darrell insisted with determination. "It is my right to know if it involves my mate and my unborn child."
