Chapter 16 - Refusing to Cooperate?

Ursula shook her head. A thoughtful expression passed her face before she spoke once more, "Not now. I will tell it to you if I am able to confirm it."

She then looked at Basil and said, "Give all the bullets to me. I will bring it to the Coven for research. If my guess is correct, then everyone should prepare all prepare for the worse."

"So, what's the plan now?" Myles asked while looking at everyone with utmost seriousness. Her eyes have a hint of seriousness.

"We are going to make plans right now. Any anyone of you here knows when is the best time to attack?" Basil asked for an opinion.

"It is not a good idea to attack so soon. If you all insist, We Vampire will not cooperate," Melvyn suddenly said.

Basil felt displeased. Earlier, the Vampire Lord was acting like he was looking forward to the fight. But now, he suddenly refused to cooperate?!

Melvyn crossed his arms over his chest, "What? We are not suicidal. I want to wait for Ursula. I want more information. It is hard to collect the dust of clan members during the war after all. We won't be able to even mourn after," he said seriously.

"I agree," Ursula said through clenched teeth. She looked so reluctant.

Why not? Since earlier, the Witch Leader is with one mind with the Vampire leader, and that alone was really against the norm.

"Regardless of the reason, a fight that would cause for some to be sacrificed required preparation," She continued while looking at them.

"Every year, hunters do perform a ritual. This is to welcome the new hunters in the clans. I suppose the Arawn clan does the same. The rituals usually happen on the night of a full moon," Hubert added softly.

Melvyn looked at the wizard with interest, "Creating a perfect opportunity for us to ambush them when they are not prepared for an attack. Is that what you are trying to say?" He asked, to which Hubert nodded.

"Did you say that the rituals happen during the night of the full moon? This also happens once a year?" Reece asked.

Hubert nodded at the black Vampire. "It mostly happens around this time," He carefully added.

The wolves around the room noticeably frowned.

"Is it not during this time that you werewolves have your ritual as well? And this when all your blood thirst is at the peak?" Reece blatantly asked while looking at Basil.

"Yes, but we have a way to use it to our advantage," Darrell replied instead.

"Really?" Reese asked with unmasked doubt. The worse could happen in war is when your own teammate cannot recognize who the enemies are.

Reese's concern is understandable and the same as the others.

"Most of the warriors have learned to control themselves. For those who can't control themselves, I am sure that Ursula and her team will have a remedy for that," Basil explained.

"It is to my understanding that it is during the full moon that the vampires are the strongest," Gillian pointed out.

"That's true. It is during this time we are the strongest, and during then, like the wolves, we have our bloodthirst the highest," Melvyn said with a smirk as if it was something to proud of.

Ursula glared at him, "Are you confident that all your Vampires could control themselves?" She asked, her voice laced with threat. It was like her silently telling him, 'Don't dare make us witches help you control your leeches.'

Melvyn grinned, showing his sharp canines before responding, "Absolutely."

"Great!" Basil yelled, cutting off the tension, "It is the best time then to make the attack during this time because it has proved to be more advantageous to us." He added.

Everyone seemed to have agreed with him.

"So, what are task is each of us going to handle?" Cecil asked.

"Witches will mask our scent, so they won't know when we are coming. Do you think you can make us all invisible?" Clive questioned.

"So, the spell only applies when the people doing it have contact with each other. The more the number, the more energy it draws from the person performing it. A witch could die because of that," another witch explained with disgust.

"That is the reason for preparation. Amulets could mask presence for a short period of time," Ursula said.

The witches agreed, but everyone could see that they were reluctant to do so. Amulets were hard to create, after all. It would save magic for the witches, but it will still need a lot of energy many were made.

"I think they should put the premises on fire, and when there is chaos, then we attack them," suggested Clive.

"I think that might create awareness and that we are there," interrupted Myles rudely.
