Chapter 8 - Question on Soul Mates

Not that Cyrene had a lot of complaints in her heart. Hunters exist for a reason. That reason is called 'balance.'

Why not?

Although Supernatural and Hunters are known to be enemies, there are still laws to follow. Not to mention human laws. Unlike how others believe, Hunters won't really go around killing any Supernatural that they see. That was like starting an unnecessary war.

It did not make sense at all for Hunters to waste their energy and life to go killing even the innocent. That's not how humans should act.

Humans, after all, are still weaker compared to any other existence that has the gift of thinking rationally. From ancient times, it would take more than ten humans to kill one Supernatural unless trained.

Who would stupidly want to take a gamble?

Still, Supernaturals are only part human. Because of this, there was a high chance that there would be accidents.

Too bad for humans, though, as they were most impacted by these accidents.

Vampires are using them for food.

Witches could use them for their forbidden rituals, like keeping their youthful appearance.

Sirens, using humans as an occasional snack.

Then for werewolves… Cyrene doesn't have many complaints about them aside from the fact that they are hairy when they change into their beast side.

Or occasional rogue werewolves that they needed to put down for causing death on their path.

However, when she learned why a werewolf would go rogue, Cyrene felt conflicted.

Because most werewolves became rogues due to grief for losing a mate and the human side gave up on life, allowing the beast side to take over.

With that thought, Cyrene was not sure if it was a good thing to love so much like that. It was fascinating that the term 'soul mate' really exists.

It was any woman's dream to love unconditionally. Yet, it's devastating for the one that was left behind.

Good thing she is human and won't have this kind of entanglement.

On a positive note, werewolves are easier to deal with as they live with orders most of the time. They have a leader, and they follow the rules.

They do business professionally most of the time.

She remembered visiting a werewolf pack before with her mother. The Bloodmoon pack is located in the same state.

That was the time Cyrene really thought that werewolves were really pleasing to the eyes. She approved so much.

Cyrene particularly remembered the teen alpha son at that time. Well, he looked like a teen, but Cyrene knew that he must be older than her father.

Hmmm, Alpha Darrell should be the one in charge now, Cyrene thought to herself.

Then she remembered her young self asking if they felt hot due to the weather since most of the males were not wearing shirts.

Thinking about this now, Cyrene could feel a slight annoyance.

Damn. Those wolfmen have a good warrior physique that she even when she remembers about it. They are even proud and flaunting about it.

How many werewolves are there working in the entertainment industry?

Most of them, even women, have drool-worthy, six-pack abs that are so hard to have for humans unless one worked so hard as her.

But for werewolves? They were gifted with this model-type body as soon as they finished their first shift.

Well, it's probably Heaven's rewards for them after they finished a nerve-wracking, bone alignment.

"Oh! Why are you spacing out?" Someone said before she felt someone hit her back playfully.

Cyrene glared at Noel playfully, "Did you just hit me? I thought, what's the food for dinner," She said seriously.

Noel laughed, "Tsk, you are easily distracted with food. Aren't you afraid that because of it can be caught off guard in the future? What if you get poisoned by a chocolate cake?" He said as if disappointed.

"Huh? Who is so bad to put poison in a chocolate cake?!" Cyrene said aggrievedly. She then scrunched her knuckles and asked demandingly, "Is it you? Huh? Confess to your sins, now!"

Noel jumped away from her before she decided to send a punch at him. And hell, Noel knew Cyrene's punches are heavy, and they hurt!

It still did not stop him from teasing her occasionally, of course.

With his hands raised in front of him to surrender, "It's just an example, okay? I can't do that! So serious!"

Cyrene snorted, "Good. Else, I live for the cake. You die cause of the cake." She said before laughing. "By the way, why are you idle, huh? It's not lunch break yet!"

Noel beamed at that. Something big happened. There are new trial bullets! Damn, you should have seen the test. It's amazing!"

"Amazing, in your term, means deadly," Cyrene murmured.

Noel massaged his neck as he looked at Cyrene awkwardly. He knew that she didn't like being a Hunter. "Come on, Cy. You know what they are for. They are just part of our occupational hazard," He explained.

Cyrene nodded and did not speak. She really hopes that peace will continue, and the new 'amazing bullets' won't be used anytime soon, especially to anyone who is innocent.
