Kyra shrieked, preparing herself to get burnt as the robot automated its red rays, and targeted in her direction. She closed her eyes and held her fists tightly as there was no way out for her. Using magic was prohibited, she couldn't unlock the door as robot would burn her even before she reaches it.
But to her surprise, someone pushed her, so harshly that she almost flew in the air before landing in the other corner.
'RUN' The creature yelled inside her mind, as she tried standing up in pain.
She looked at it, getting burnt by those red rays, it screamed and cried as the robot tormented it very sharply. The rays looked somewhat mixed up with a harmful spell, and she felt bad looking at the culprit.
'Wait? Why did it protect her?' She thought staring in its direction. It looked so weak earlier, but all of a sudden it was standing and even protecting her!
What on the earth was happening here? Only if all this was just a nightmare! A very bad dream!
The tiny robot face realized Kyra had escaped, and it stopped raying out. It turned searching around for Kyra, and when its eye captured her, it started re-auditing her crime and its punishment.
Kyra blinked and stood up before hastily running towards the door. Searching her pockets, she unlocked the door with the ID and closed it immediately. Sliding down the door, she sat down, her head resting on the door as she wiped her sweat.
Taking a few deep breaths, she tried calming herself but too bad everything was freaking her out. She could hear its thoughts, they were still ringing inside her! Kyra groaned grabbing her hair as her head was throbbing in pain.
She had come here to get more clues, but this case was getting more and more unpredictable. Host? Dark Force? Not a Soul Eater? All those main points started spinning her head, and she groaned out loud.
Her pocket continued to buzz and she took out her phone. There were a total of 8 missed calls, 3 from Anna, 3 from Venessa, and one from her Chief Andrew.
Oh, yes! Her Chief would definitely know what was happening to her! Maybe he could also help her join these host dots!
Kyra immediately dialed his number, but it was busy. Taking a deep breath, she got up and teleported to his office.
And within a minute, she ended up in his office. Opening her eyes, she looked around only to find none in the room.
'Did I spell wrong?' She thought looking around but since the office was similar, she could only guess he might be grilling Anna and Venessa again.
"I am telling you, I will quit if you continue acting like this!" Venessa's voice was heard in the corridor, and soon they entered the office, followed by Anna and Kevin.
"Chief, I need your help!" She asked the moment he was inside.
He stared at her in confusion, and so did the other three, but Venessa ignored her and continued yelling at him.
"For god's sake, how can you let them hold a disciplinary committee? And how the hell could you allow them to transfer this case again! Like for real, how can you be so weak in front of them?"
"What?" Kyra frowned hearing her words, "DP committee?" She had expected the transfer, but why the hell do they need to be disciplined instead of being praised?
"Yes! In just 38 hours, a committee of old morons will sit in front of you and derail your very existence in the KNIGHTS!" Venessa added, scorning at their Chief who calmly sat on his chair.
"Forget it! I have some really scary news!" Kyra ignored her words and moved to her problem. The three stared at her, mostly surprised that miss grumble was not fussing about such a partial decision!
"What?" Andrew asked, checking his anger, "How did you sneak into the culprit's cell?"
Anna and Venessa gasped, while Kevin just sighed crossing his arms. So, she did go with her plan! Great, he needs to prepare for her funeral now!
"Yes," Kyra nodded and later shook her head. How did he get to know?
Her eyes immediately glared at Kevin who just shrugged in confusion. He meant 'I don't know how!' but his gesture made her misunderstand his words. 'So he tipped her off, great!' She thought.
"No, not that!" Kyra immediately shook her head, "I have something big. I can actually hear the culprit's thoughts!" She hurriedly added, "It actually communicated with me and said it was a host to something cruel, a dark force!"
"The Soul-Eater?" Anna curiously asked, taking a step forward. She had no idea how Kyra managed to hear its thoughts, but it was sure a great asset for them.
Kyra shook her head to everyone's surprise, "No, it's not the soul-eater! Actually, the Wendigo doesn't even have a soul eater inside it. It confirmed me, and it also said it was a dark force!"
Everyone went into deep thoughts, as Kyra's words just didn't make any sense! She heard its thoughts? It was hardly believable! And it was not a Soul-Eater, but something other that could consume souls? It more looked like a fantasy half-baked story for them!
"We should find what it is before it's too late. And yes, I think we should visit it again!" She mumbled looking at everyone, who just stared at her in confusion.
"Oh, Come On, Kyra!" Kevin was the first one to break out.
"Just because you got caught for sneaking inside, don't make such absurd stories to escape his wrath!" He grumbled, sighing out loud. "Our plates are already full, so stop scaring us even more!"
Yes, he was right! This Soul-Eater case was hardly digestible, and she was making it worse with her drama!
"No, I am not!" Kyra defended, staring at her Chief to believe! While Anna and Venessa shook their heads. She was actually trying to escape with a story, they thought!
"My Passer ID?" He asked, tapping on his new desk to keep it here. He had gone to search for something in his inner vault, but it was broken and it was easy to guess who was the thief since only his ID was missing!
"But, you need to believe me! I am not making this up!" Kyra grumbled, but when his fangs came out, his eyes red in anger, she immediately took the ID out and placed it on his desk.
"You guys are dismissed!" He gestured with his hand and everyone walked out. He was pinned by the guilt of being powerless, and he needed to wrap his emotions!
Kyra fueled inside, she glared at Kevin as he shut down the door.
"Why can't you stop meddling in other's business?" She glowered, taking a step forward and Kevin blinked in confusion.
"Did Chief ask for your opinion? No, right? Why the hell did you give a wrong assumption!!" She yelled and he almost took a step back in shock. Witches were known for their tempers and he knew how bad the one standing in front of him was.
"Just because I didn't help you read its memories, you cannot make such absurd stories! You didn't get any clues in the cell and it's not my fault" Kevin defended back, taking a step forward that they almost hit their faces.
"Huh! Look at you!" Kyra scoffed and mocked out on his face, "All you can do is pompous your psychometric skills, that are acquired with money and not true efforts!"
"Says the one who got her powers through bloodline! All you are doing is wasting them, and I pity your grandma!" Kevin raged back in the same tone and even added, "And her highly-earned respect rotting because of a granddaughter like you!"
And, that almost turned her eyes red in frustration, yes, she was tired of hearing that shit!
"Huh! And what makes you better? The whole building talks about how you wasted your dad's hard-earned money to get a psychometrist certificate!" Kyra shouted back and added, "Tch Tch, all you can do easy brag than try working on your ineffective skills," Shaking her added, she taunted, "I can understand your father's pain and why he kicked out you of his house!"
Kevin glared at her, and so did furious Kyra that their noses almost hit during that intensive battle.
"And,"
"Will you both shut the fuck up and go back to your desks?"
Kevin stopped when the loud voice of their chief from behind the locked door. Andrew had started regretting having such sharp hearing skills from the moment these two made a habit of bickering almost every day, mostly in front of his office!
Both glared at each other before walking in opposite directions. While Kevin stepped inside the balcony, Kyra walked toward the lift.
Resting behind, Kyra sighed pressing the ground floor, and sighed again. Closing her eyes, she tried to calm herself but his words started echoing in her mind, again and again!
"Bloody Bastard, **** **** *****!" She cursed out loud, in her usual witch style but nothing was enough for her tears to hold behind.
Only she knew how hard it was for her to reach where she was right now! She always wanted to prove herself and now that she was after going through hell, people only considered her for her grandma's reputation!
'Hell with those assholes! Hell with their shitty mouths!' She cursed inside her head and sighed out loud. If people only wanted to talk about her grandmother, let them do! She will slap them with her achievements in the future!
A sigh escaped her lips and she sighed again. Taking out her phone she thought of texting her Nana but seeing the time that was ticking at 12 AM past 30 minutes, something flashed in her mind and that widened her eyes in disbelief!
Amidst all this drama, she hadn't cross-checked the lock of the Wendigo's cell before leaving the dungeon. Did she?
And suddenly the lift stopped moving! A black code alarm started buzzing out loud!
"CREATURE FROM CELL NUMBER 3A2 HAS ESCAPED THE DUNGEON! PLEASE ACTIVATE YOUR PROTECTIVE BANDS AND STAY WHEREVER YOU ARE!" A female robotic voice started alarming everyone about the issue.
"Shit shit!" Kyra cursed pressing the dungeon floor button!
Holy Hell! It was the same cell she had locked that Wendigo earlier!
