Chapter 27 - 'Kiss Me' cure!

Kyra's ward, Silver Lake Hospital.

"I I think I I cursed you instead of," Kyra stopped when the frog which was trying to stand, almost fell back and hit the ground.

"Kevin!" Anna helped him and placed him on the coffee table.

"Kyra, are you sure?" Anna asked and when Kyra nodded, she sighed out loud. So this was the reason she had looked nervous since last night, Anna could only sigh again.

"I will call Chief Adams!" She went out to make the call. She was sensing a murder, and any delay in addressing this matter would cut Kyra's head!

A few minutes later.

Andrew who was already in the hospital parking his car, rushed when Anna called and informed him everything.

The whole room was silent, so silent that even the ticking of the clock felt like a drumbeat for Kyra. Her eyes nervously scanned the three people, first Anna, then her chief, and lastly the frog which had been sitting like a statue.

"Don't worry, Kev!" She slowly said, trying the tame the little beast growing inside him.

"Every curse has a cure and so do yours! We will figure it out together!" She added with all hope and her eyes even shined, making Andrew and Anna sigh out loud.

The only thing she had to do right then was to apologize, beg for mercy and save herself from this prince's wrath! But here she was, adding more unnecessary fuel to his already burning fire!

The frog which looked paralyzed finally looked up at her. With a blank expression looked around searching for something and when it was too hard for it to search in its froggy little state, he asked Anna to help.

"Where is my phone? Can you get it for me?" It asked with a voice that barely managed to come out. Kevin looked around searching for the same, panicking Anna as she sensed danger in his calm voice, and Andrew couldn't help but worry about Kyra's future.

"Let me search it for you!" Kyra was the one to reply and looked around the tables.

She was guilty and that was her way of paying for her mistake. Even if he asked her to be his slave, she was ready only until she manages to find a cure for his froggy state! She further went shuffling through pillows on the couch and searched for it, as if her whole life was dependent on it.

"Why why do you need it now?" Anna asked in a soothing tone. She didn't want to be the pin of this ticking little time bomb, but it was just weird to see him act like that instead of turning the whole room upside down!

For hell's sake, he was cursed! Cursed by a really powerful witch of their unit also his least favorite colleague! But, he was just too calm and cool to accept it so easily!

The frog which was silent looked at her, and then suddenly glaring at Kyra, it declared, "To call my lawyer, of course!"

"This damn witch committed a crime! A big fat crime and I will sue her for real!" He yelled with all seriousness and Kyra gulped in shock! She stumbled a step back and Anna went to stand beside her, supporting her shoulders as she looked pale again.

Yes, cursing someone was a crime! Crime similar to that of assault in her world, if the culprit turns out to be witches like her. Severe imprisonment was guaranteed and images of her prison life already started getting imprinted in her brain.

Those rugged black and blue uniforms, and that never-ending line for food, yup it sounded way better than dying under his family's rage. The whole city knew how cautious Senior Brown was about his family and their safety.

Seeing their only heir in the frog state? Worse, never able to see him again in his human form? Yeah, they would just cut Kyra into pieces and feed them to their pet dogs!

"Kev Kevin! Let's calm down, alright?" Andrew got up from his seat and tried to take the lead.

"You want me to calm down?" Kevin yelled out of his lungs.

"Seriously, Chief Adams?" He added and glaring at Kyra, he ranted out, "What worse did I deserve to suffer like this? And most importantly, why should I suffer for the mess this witch is responsible for!"

"Yes, we know dear. But, she didn't do it on purpose, right?" Anna tried to speak out as Andrew was left in a trance. "She was just trying to save you and calm the whole situation." She added and that only worsened the little frog's mood.

"And who told her to do that? It's not like she is the golden guardian for our unit!" The frog yelled out loud and now it was almost losing its breath. It was still a frog after all and talking in a human voice was just too tiring for it.

"Every time we get burdened with troubles because of her and every damn time, you guys try to cover it up with your reasons!" Tears started to settle in its red froggy eyes and the frog just couldn't take all this curse shit anymore.

"And even now, you guys are doing the same and favoring her though she is at fault! From being negligent in locking the cell, to using a transformation spell, no one told her to do those things yet she did and now, you guys try to console me rather than scolding her? Does it sound fair?" Kevin added and tears rolled out in frustration.

For god's sake, he just wanted to quit this trash job and go look after his dad's company. But how could he now, in his little frog state?

"No, we aren't trying to help anyone here!" Anna added with utmost honesty.

Yes, most of the things he said were true, absolutely true but no one looked past Kyra's intentions that somehow always ended up dragging troubles. She had this very bad habit of helping, saving people in danger, and worse, even stepping out first if a dangerous situation arose. And, she was so bad at executing her plans that it always somehow created troubles for their unit.

And Andrew always took let it slide, even when one of their members lost his job last time during a mission because of her, and he was doing the same now, making Kevin end up with nothing but anger and frustration!

"She is at fault and we will punish her accordingly!" Andrew declared and when the frog looked at him, tears still rolling down its green cheeks, he added, "But for now, shall we try solving this issue first? Bit by bit?"

And when the frog sniffed and turned to face him, he sighed inwardly and so did Anna, while Kyra finally let out her breath which she had been holding all along.

"I don't know what you will do, but transform me asap! That's it!" It added as Andrew held it on his palm and caressed its head, to ease his stress and console his saddened soul.

If it was his Chief who was promising to punish Kyra and help him, Kevin had no regrets in trusting him. After all, it was he who had helped him many times even whenever he was in trouble while his skills, and he was sure Andrew Adams would die than stick to his words!

"Do you know how we can break this curse?" Andrew then turned to Kyra as Kevin looked calm, for now!

She honestly shook her head. There weren't any instances when she had practically tried cursing someone, and since cursing was strictly prohibited in the magic bureau, books and research papers related to it were hardly available to find any cure.

Andrew and Anna sighed, while Kevin almost thought of jumping over her, and cracking her neck!

"Do you have anyone who can help us?" Anna asked, with all hopes. Of course, Kyra knew many strong and popular practitioners around the world. But, would she keep her pride aside and approach someone? She was doubting that part because, for witches, pride was everything that served them respect in their area.

"I know! My nana, I mean my grandma can easily help me!" Kyra added with confidence. Her Nana would help, but will she keep her alive after knowing this harsh truth! She would be having no hopes to live once she finds this out!

Taking out her from the nightstand, she dialed her grandmother. To avoid them hearing her harsh scoldings, she excused and walked out.

A few minutes passed, and Kyra came with all smiles that they thought it was an easy cure.

"Ok, I talked with her!" Kyra exclaimed, and checking out a statement from some book her Nana had sent, she added, "There is this legacy dated back 18's, though she isn't sure it would work, she had asked me to give it a try."

"According to the report, there is this incident that had a similar type of curse back in 1879," Passing her phone to Andrew to let him check, she continued, "The cursed victim needs a true kiss to transform back into human self. As long as the feelings are true, it doesn't matter if it is one or two-sided love! The 'Kiss Me' cure would work if the intentions are pure."

She smiled, moving her eyes from Anna to the little frog which was staring at her.

"Easy isn't it?" She looked at three and Andrew sighed out loud.

Of course, it wasn't as easy as she made it sound!
