Chereads / Kiss Me Sweetly, Detective Yang! / Chapter 33 - I am dying

Chapter 33 - I am dying

"No No, it's nothing like you think!" The frog immediately jumped forward to explain, "She kissed me on the cheek. It was during our act to you know trap the control room, so that we could discuss the plan!"

"Do you like him?" Her grandma was now doing her worst job. If she did, there was a good chance of saving Kevin. And the way her face turned red, Helena was hoping for a yes.

"I love him actually! So much that I want to kill him right now!" Kyra replied, her ears turning red in frustration. Her grandma clearly knew how much she hated Kevin among everyone in their unit. But, she still dared to bring up that question!

"I just wanted to confirm things," Helena slowly mumbled, as Kyra glared at her.

When she felt another pair of eyes staring at her, she looked at Kevin who awkwardly looked away. Oh, damn! Things would be more awful between them now!

"Alright, if there is nothing else, we will leave now, grandma," Anna mumbled, distracting them from their uneasy thoughts. She could read how embarrassed both of them were, and separating them was the best option right now.

"Yeah, let me pack some side dishes for you." Helena nodded to her maid who walked inside the kitchen.

"No, need for that grandma! I still haven't touched the dishes you sent last week!" Anna mumbled, packing her bag.

"Then, empty them this week. And use these next week." Helena smiled, as they hugged for one last time, "Xuan loves them, so make sure to eat together."

Anna nodded, though his name made her sigh inwardly. Her boyfriend had left for some mission, and she wasn't sure if he was still alive!

"And you," Turning to Kyra she had been ignoring throughout, Helena pulled her in a hug, and warned, "Better get ready for the panel! Your black magic mishap won't be ignored just because you are my disciple."

"Yeah, Yeah, I know! It's still on the next moon, so I have time!" Kyra grumbled, hugging her back. She had been giving her a hard time, but this one hug was enough to melt down all her anger towards her.

Kevin looked at Anna in confusion who shrugged as she wasn't aware of their discussion. But she understood that it was probably the punishment Kyra might receive for practicing prohibited Black Magic. And that thought only made her sigh out loud. Her sister still had so many things to tackle! All for saving a soul!

"Wait, where do you live?" Helena turned to Kevin who had settled down in Anna's sling bag.

"Ahh, in my condo!" Kevin mumbled as he forgot about this important issue.

"Maybe, I will just rent a hotel until I get transformed," He added as he would nowhere go like this in front of his family. And with the maids running in and out of his condo, he wasn't sure when his secret might get exposed to his family.

"You will need someone to take care of you," Helena thought and looked at Anna as if she was the best option. Her eyes then moved to Kyra, who shook her head reading her thoughts. Wait, wasn't she the one responsible for his misery? She should take care of him!

"I would have loved to keep you here, but it is far from the city and I am not sure if you can adapt here," Helena smiled, and then looking at Anna, she added, "Her boyfriend always surprises her without notice, so it would uncomfortable to stay around this couple."

And then turning at Kyra, she concluded with a smile, "It's better if you take him. And, you both are single and are of the same age, so I am sure it won't be a hassle to live together until we find a cure!"

"No, Grandma I will take care of him." Anna immediately answered, her face filling with worries. They barely managed to talk than fight, and leaving them in the same room? Oh, lord! She didn't wish d for Kevin to die so soon, at least not in his frog form!

"Yeah, I will stay with Senior Anna!"

"Yes, let him stay with Anna!"

Both the parties replied and then looked at each other. Oh, at least they agreed on something!

"Alright," Helena sighed not forcing them. She would have been at ease if Kyra took the frog with her, since she had doubts about Anna's house security. Her boyfriend, though he was sweet, he had his own mask. But, since they were strongly against living together, she could only sigh again.

"Good night, Grandma!" Anna hugged her one last time as they walked out of the house.

Helena waved at them as they drove off, and sighed out loud. Those two needed to endure well since the darker days were still waiting for them.

---

Outside Kyra's apartment.

"Can you guys really manage?" Anna asked again, not ready to leave them together!

She received a call from her mother who had slipped down the stairs and hurt herself. And, she needed to go to the hospital, and maybe also stay with her since her father was on a tour.

"Yes, we will... try!" Kyra mumbled sighing out loud. She couldn't just leave him in some pond! Could she? Wait, she can actually!

"Don't worry," Kyra pressed her hand as Anna looked tense and added, "You should go and take care of aunty. I will visit her tomorrow!"

Anna then looked at the frog, who hesitantly nodded getting out of her bag. It then looked at Kyra, who sighed before opening her palm for him to shift to her side.

"Yes, you should go! We will manage!" Jumping on her hand, Kevin further joked, "She wouldn't eat me, haha! Will she?" He nervously looked up at Kyra, who stared at him with nothing but frustration.

"I am a carnivore, actually." Kyra seriously said, and Kevin almost slipped out of her hand.

Anna chuckled and added, "Alright then! I hope you guys at least won't kill each other until I come and pick him up in the morning!"

And as they nodded getting down the car, Anna looked through the window and pleaded, "Please don't fight, okay?"

Kyra nodded as it was meant for her, and Anna smiled before driving away as both of them sighed. Placing him inside her black backpack, she zipped not even asking if it was okay inside and walked inside.

Taking the lift, she sighed pressing the 8th-floor button and took out her phone.

"Kyra, damn it's so dark here!" She heard the frog's faint grumble which she ignored by plugging in her AirPods.

"Fuck Kyra! At least open the zipper so that I can breathe!"

"Stop running Kyra, it feels like I am sitting on a roller coaster ride!"

"Kyra Yang, stop playing with me and get me out of this huge bag!"

"You bitch, open the zip!"

She heard all his comments as she walked to her flat, unlocking with the password she entered inside. Walking to her bedroom, she threw the bag on the bed and didn't care to unzip it. Well, it had hands didn't it? It could open easily, but she strongly wished it couldn't and be stuck in there till morning.

Taking her PJs, she went outside to the bathroom to get ready to sleep! Ahh, finally she could hit her soft mattress and sleep all night!

"Kyra, I will kill you for that!" The frog which barely managed to get up as he was thrown with the bag, took a few loud gasps. His life would end in her hands, he was sure now that she had already started troubling him.

Jumping towards the zipper, Kevin tried to sit straight and open it. And after lots of hustle, he did and jumped out of the bag. Landing on the soft mattress, it rolled before managing to sit on its four limbs.

"How dare yo-" He gulped the next words looking around the room.

Unlike his brightly lit, vibrant bedroom, Kyra's room was ordinary, small with dark colors almost blinding his eyes. He turned around, looking at the window which also was covered in black curtains, and then at the posters and a small rack filled with books that had dark hardcovers. Oh, yell it was completely opposite to his style and he shivered thinking he had to spend the night in here.

"Ohh, you are out!" Kyra walked inside, drying her hair with her towel and Kevin turned around and glared at her. Only if he had the power to shrink her just with his gaze!

Walking towards him, she held him with her fingers as if he was some parasite and placed him on the bedstand table.

"You will sleep here, and say nothing until morning! If you do, I will throw you in some pond!" She declared, her serious eyes making him lose all his courage to bicker at her.

"Understood?" Kyra asked again, taking her back and throwing it on her small couch as she sat at the edge of her bed.

"I am not dying to have a conversation with you anyway!" Kevin managed to say and glared when she faked a smile.

"Great, good night then!" Kyra said, laying on the bed, and turned around as Kevin stared at her in frustration.

How could she not sympathize with him? At least let him sleep on something soft though he didn't know how frogs usually slept!

"At least dry your hair!" He grumbled as her wet hair were making him uneasy. He hated when people ignored drying their hair!

"It's none of your business." He heard her say before she turned on her heater and dimmed the night lamp!

Sighing out loud, he slumped on the wooden table and crawled like a fetus. Something was wrong with his body, and it needed rest maybe, he thought closing his eyes.

Soon both slept on their sides, silent yet thoughts already diving inside in their dreams.

----

A few hours later.

"Ky-Kyr,"

Kyra felt something tickling her cheek, and she rubbed it thinking it was a fly. Adjusting her blanket, she tried to sleep again, but something continued tapping her cheek.

"Kyra, I thi think I am dying!" She heard something loud whisper near in her ear. It was faint but the voice was so irritating that she opened her eyes and frowned in confusion.

She groaned as her droopy eyes fell on the frog sitting beside her face, and she slowly sat up in frustration.

"What the hell did I say?" She grumbled turning on the lights and blinked as something was off with Kevin.

The frog's cheeks as swollen up, and they were red.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Taking the frog in her hand, she observed his face and gulped when it fell off.

"Hey Hey, wake up!" Tapping its body, Kyra tensed up as its little body was hot as a fresh bun!

"Hey, at least don't die in my house!" She cried, shaking it again as Kevin didn't reply at all.
