"I am sorry!" Kyra uttered, cursing all the people that came to her mind.
Kevin who was about to unlock the door blinked in surprise. Did he hear something wrong? Or was it his mind that was playing that pleasing sound?
"I am sorry, Kevin! I should have been careful with you!" Kyra mumbled again, bitterly that she felt like she was drinking poison!
Kevin's eyes widened and he turned around to look at her in shock. Was the arrogant Kyra Yang apologizing to him? Instead of swearing at him? Okay, this was new, he mused unable to hold back his smile.
"What did you say? I think I heard something wrong!" He acted, rubbing his ear and Kyra just took deep breaths to calm herself down.
"I said I am sorry!!" Kyra mumbled, forcing a smile that her lips didn't want to stretch out.
For hell's sake! Out of all the people on this earth, she was apologizing to the psychic prince! What was really wrong with her?
"I know I was wrong. I should have opted for a better plan than all this mess-up act." Kyra added more butter, almost melting him softly. He came back into the room and sat in front of her, all ears to her confession!
Of course, it was once in a lifetime scene where he could be hearing Kyra confess her wrongdoings! And more to that, apologize to none but him? He wasn't a fool to miss out on such a splendid moment!
"This must have deeply hurt you and I am sorry for that," Kyra uttered again, almost shortening her life span!
She had kept aside her pride, her ego that was now racking her brains, and just for what? To get mocked by him all her life for this confession! Ahh, she wanted to just burn the whole world now.
"Great that it hit your head!" Kevin smiled and continued, "But sorry, I am not falling for such a pitiful confession!"
Saying that he smiled again and her fists curled up in frustration. Patting her shoulder, he got up to walk out, extremely pleased with the change of events.
Kyra Yang apologized to him!! He would die without regrets now!
"Fine, go be a puppet! It's my fault that I even expected you to act like a human!" Kyra burst out as she had failed again to convince him.
"And you know what? Your skills suck, Kevin! And you suck as well!" Kyra huffed while crossing her arms and sighed out loud.
Yeah, it was her fault! Completely her fault for expecting anything from him! They barely managed to have a proper talk!! And here she was, wishing to work together and trap that culprit!
But when she didn't hear any response or even the loud bang of the door, she turned around in confusion.
And to her surprise, Kevin was busy doing something with the knob.
"Don't tell me you can't even open a door now!" Kyra grumbled, sitting up on the couch and Kevin just shook his head with a sigh.
But before she could mock him any further, the knob tilted making a sound, and something fell to the ground.
"A chip?" Kyra asked as he took the black card in his hand and walked back to the couch.
"Destroy it!" He ordered and Kyra just blinked in surprise.
"Do you think I was rattling all that nonsense of outrage?" Kevin questioned and Kyra instantly nodded her head. Of course, it was his habit of making a scene out of everything.
Sighing out loud, he raised the chip and replied, "I was buying time to find this recorder!"
And when Kyra just looked at him, still confused, he sighed out loud. He at least thought she was smart but gladly she wasn't.
"Do think Chief would have nothing more than those control room devices in his office?" When Kyra thought about it, he added, "He is not dumb to just trust them and leave his office in their hands. Who knows what would they alter, you know to use against us one day?" Raising the chip, he added, "So he made sure to have his own recorders for safety!"
"How did you know this?" Kyra asked, amused while taking the chip. She then threw it in the water jar and made it burst into ashes.
"That's," He paused, and then sitting on the couch, he answered, "None of your concern!"
Kyra frowned and slumped back on her couch in disappointment.
"So, while we were bickering, you were busy finding this piece?" Kyra questioned pointing at the jar with the destroyed chip. And when Kevin nodded, she felt betrayed and her shoulders dropped.
"The first time I turned the knob, I couldn't quite get it and the second time when you said sorry, you know I found it!" He explained, much to torture her.
"You found it but stayed quiet as you wanted to hear my confession. Is it?" And when he nodded with a huge grin, Kyra's nose flared up in anger.
Only if she had an idea about that chip and destroyed it in the first place! Huh, she at least would have saved her face from apologizing to him.
"Now, if you are over with your doubts, let's talk about the case! Shall we?" Kevin asked as she continued to murder him with her stare.
Sighing out loud, she nodded sitting straight on the couch. She still was quite caught up in the whole incident and had so many questions for him. But, looking at the time that was falling short, she decided to concentrate on the case.
"What are your plans with the Time Travel?" But his question again caught her in surprise, that she stared at him blankly.
"So, you were really acting when you said you won't risk your life!" Kyra murmured, still shaken by his behavioral change!
"I thought you would never accept this, I mean even if I begged you to time travel in that trance!" She nodded much to his displeasure.
Kevin was famous for always avoiding troubles, more importantly, risks that could even cost him just a slight cut! And in this case, he would get killed, worse get dissipated along with the girl's memories. So, Kyra was still having a hard time contemplating this new change in him.
"Look, I have seen it with my own eyes!" Kevin mumbled and taking a deep breath, he continued, "I mean I saw that girl being devoured in front of eyes. And I just want to help her, just like you do."
She nodded understanding his plight. But couldn't help but feel amused, astonished, and even awestruck by the sudden change in his whole persona.
Was this the same Kevin of her team who always avoided risks? Or did someone take over him when he went into that memory trance? She thought, just staring at him and Kevin just sighed out loud.
"You want to plan out or just continue staring at me?" He grumbled and Kyra instantly nodded, coming out of her train of thoughts. She was glad at least someone thought like her, to help the girl even though it turned out to be Kevin!
Though they both had so many differences, almost contrasting personalities, they had this similar opinion against injustice. Both were strongly against it and always tried to help people abused under it. And, that was the main reason why Andrew always favored them, and even wished to see them work together as a team.
"So, what's your plan?" Kevin asked and Kyra immediately went into her strategic mood.
Making sure that the cameras were still locked, she took out a paper from the desk and explained, "I am not sure if this will work. But here it is!" She sighed, before drawing two worlds on the paper, "The first step is to enter the trance, and then you will like, gain the culprit's attention."
"Later, there is this vital, a potion that will like, you know help you get a real body when you are stuck in some time-lapse. You gonna drink it and grab hold of the culprit, even just touching him would be enough! This would be our step two!" She added.
And, when Kevin nodded understanding those parts, Kyra moved forward, "Later like when you grab it, we will inject the pull-out herbal shot into you. I have asked Dr. James and there is this potion-like shot, that will, you know help us to even bring the culprit out of that trance along with you!"
"Will this work?" Kevin asked in concern. Though the plan looked perfect, he doubted if those potions and shots were actually trustworthy.
"There are pieces of evidence; like back in early '20s KNIGHTS used this type of time traveling to catch the culprit. And, luckily there are recipes for all these potions in the library! I have confirmed it, so yup it will totally work." Kyra answered with a smile but didn't forget to add her concern,
"But the psychometrists of those times were all werewolves, elves, and powerful creatures. I mean you know, I am not saying this like to put you down, but you know you might need powers to even just touch the culprit."
"I will be fine, I guess!" Kevin replied, nodding to himself. She was right but they couldn't trust anyone else on this case. So he had to take this risk, at least for that lost soul!
"But the major problem is," Kyra pressed and Kevin was pulled out of his worries.
"I just don't know, I mean we need to know the exact time when you would hold that thing. So that I could instantly inject the pull-out shot. You will be laying like a dead body there and it would be too dangerous if we like injected it at the wrong time." And when Kevin seemed confused, Kyra took out the paper and tried explaining clearly,
"See, you will laying dead here on the outside in the real world. While your inner self will be holding the culprit, inside that memory which I cannot see. I need to inject the shot, right when you grab that creature to bring both of your out. But, I would be having no idea when you will hold that creature."
And nodding slightly, he took the pen and drew like a box, connecting the inside and the outside world, "You need like a transformer or something like a mediator, that could tell you when to inject the shot into me. You like, need that something or someone to notify you to inject it immediately when I grab the culprit inside the trance, right?"
Kevin asked understanding the trouble and Kyra nodded, sighing out loud as he placed the pen down.
They both looked at the paper and pondered about this new hurdle. A few minutes passed and both still looked dazed as nothing fit in that mediator spot.
"Guys! Guys! Are you inside?" Suddenly they heard banging on the door, and it was no one else but Anna which made them sigh out loud.
"There is some bad news! Pretty bad news!! The case had been officially transferred to the Alpha team! Like for god's sake, why would they even give it to us in the first place!" Anna grumbled standing at the door and Kyra immediately jumped up from her seat.
"She can read minds, right? We could use her as our transformer!" She mumbled gingerly and Kevin nodded before thinking it for a second.
They both smiled at each other but later paled out. But, will Anna agree to their plan? Worse would she shut her mouth after hearing their secret mission?
They sighed out loud, as it was impossible! She was Andrew's pet and they badly doubted her skills in keeping secrets!
