Chapter 4 - Rain, Rain Go Away

"Keep trying him on the phone, I guess?", he said while fidgeting with the bathroom lock.

To which, Morty replied, " Yeah, you got any other brilliant plans?".

Vijay just imitated a raspberry fart and slammed the door shut as he thought the lock might have been broken. He put his ear on the door, just to ensure he could hear inside and well-enough he could hear the phone being tapped constantly. It was a dial-phone, kind of a burner, so that in times of distress it could be easily disposed of.

Vijay moved from the sink to the main-door. He reached the windows and pushed the curtains aside to look out for trouble. But seeing as found none. He lay on the bed thinking of his time with Sarah. How they weaved in joy and love. How warm her presence felt and how he wished he could stay by her forever. But then he remembered her walking away, which brought his eyes to an open. He was pulled back to reality with the utmost disgust of their current situation. Why? Because the only contact that they had to move from Texas to Mexico was now half-an-hour late and was not picking up the phone. It was 2 in the morning now, so he thought of getting some sleep. But he couldn't because all he could think about was getting back to Sarah knowing that he had to weight. So he shifted and fidgeted until it was 6 and stood up with a headache. So, he decided to go out to walk in the parking lot of the motel.

He opened the door and stood silently. Looking around, he took deep breathes of the air around. "Life for a while", he thought. It never rained in Texas, but today it was oddly grey in the sky. He found a local vendor selling apples in the morning. So he scooted down and used whatever cash he had to buy a bag full of apples. He started on one vigorously, a result of being hungry for a whole of 7 hours. He finished three of them and decided on taking a breather. He was standing near the lot when he heard the sputter of an engine. He looked on the right and saw a cop sedan turning in his direction. His leg began to shake, so he kicked on the ground. He pulled up his hood and started wavering like a drunk into the parking lot. Once he was in, he dashed to their door, dropping the apples in the process. He opened the door, went in and locked the door in quietly.

He found Morty sleeping, so he nudged him up. "What?!", Morty shouted. Vijay put a palm on his mouth. A scream in the silent morning can be heard by anyone, even in front of the hotel. Vijay put a finger to his lips and then dragged him to the window. He pulled the curtain aside and made Morty watch. Their eyes widened up as they watched the cop-car idly stroll by and the cop looking at the motel without any visible look of suspicion. They breathed a sigh of relief.
