Chapter 30 - I am Worried

Before Amy decided to drive the minibus, she called Matt, but he was not picking. That's weird, she thought. She then sent a WhatsApp message to him.

"Hi, Matt! You're not picking your call. Please call me back as soon as you read this message. Love you!"

Amy kept her mobile phone in her pocket and started the engine and drove towards James residence. On the road, she decided to play one of her favourite music. It was one of Justin Beiber's songs named "Stuck with You'. She connected her smartphone to the music system and played the song. She began to hum as she drove along.

The reason she loved this song so much is that the music seems to be talking about Matt and her. Most of the time, she played it back at home to dance and play with Matt and thinking about it made her smile blissfully.

Amy arrived at the street of Hart's home and stopped the car. She wanted to maintain as much distance as possible. The woman is already paranoiac, so she does not want to stress the middle-aged woman.

Amy then turned on the screen of her laptop and turned on the [X-ray Image Capture Module] and audio and began observing the residents. This time, she turned the audio frequency to only hear James in his room.

"I tried it on, but it did not work, what did I do wrong…. What do you mean about overloading the CPU, it's just fine… no, it's not Ruby I should use, then what…. but ruby is convenient for me… oh Java, why didn't you say so?"

Who the hell was James talking to? Amy was honestly confused. She increased the frequency of the X-ray capture to have a clearer image of James room, hoping to see if it was even a doll he was talking to, but something made her heart leap in fear.

"Okay, what this website said was you shou... Huh, who…. But the 3D diagram says no one is at the door, what do you mean by…. What?! Where…. No no no, what should I do… huh, you should have told me this earlier…."

That was the last thing Amy heard before the image disappeared. Something was blocking the signal, and the audio is outputting static.

Amy was bewildered. James couldn't know that someone was spying on him, because the X-ray signal was invisible. Even if he knew, the source would not be easily discerned, so how did he know?

Amy did not know what to do, but to turn off the image capture and audio and decided to drive away from the street and into the next street. The street she arrived at was a crescent, so Amy was still able to see Hart's house from where she was staying, plus, the added distance made her inconspicuous.

After she packed the car properly, she then turned on the image capture again, but nothing was displayed on the screen, so she turned on audio, and again, nothing. This phenomenon was strange to her. How James knew about the spying was a mystery to her unless…

The chip!

Utterly shocked, Amy quickly launched the chip tracking program to confirm her suspicion but decided to close it back. Amy suspected that her laptop may be monitored, so she brought out her smartphone and launched a program she created years ago and ran it in a sandbox.

The beeping her smartphone made confirmed her theory. James possessed the chip! Amy was thrilled and worried. Thrilled because the chip had been confirmed, and worried because the chip was with James.

If she reported this to base, James' life would be in danger, so she decided to act normal because who knows, her PC may be compromised. They possibly might be watching her from the laptop's camera, so she did not display any reaction that would give her away.

Amy made sure to shut down her laptop before closing the laptop. She wrapped the PC in aluminium foil and put it inside her backpack. She then drove back to her hotel at six in the evening.

She packed the minibus properly before alighting off the car. Amy checked her cellphone for any messages from Matt but found none. This is not like Matt at all, he's always picking up her call, and when he's busy, he made sure he texted Amy back, which caused Amy to feel that something was wrong.

Amy wanted to hack into Matt's cellphone but refrained from doing so. She had never hacked Matt's phone because she wanted to respect his privacy, but she was worried.

Amy decided to shake this ominous feeling and went to her room. She mounted into her bed and brought her smartphone. She wrote a message to Matt:

"Hi, Matt. I am worried, please talk to me. You've not been responding to my messages since yesterday, what's wrong? Please call me back. Love you."

She then turned off her smartphone, but right after she plugged her smartphone into her charger, she noticed the camera light was on, which meant it was active. Someone was watching her. Fea began to creep into Amy's heart. Who was watching her, and how does it have to do with Matt's not answering her calls and messages? Something was wrong at home, she could feel it.

Amy pretended that nothing was so that it would not show any red flags to whoever was watching her. She wanted to turn off the smartphone, but doing so would also alert the intruder, so she left it charging, but made sure the camera was not facing her.
