For some reason, Amy began smiling as if nothing happened. She had just received a phone call from Matt's parents blaming her for his son's death, warning her never to come to his funeral otherwise they would kill her.
Not only was she not able to properly grieve her wonderful boyfriend, but she also was not allowed to say goodbye to him finally. It was like the whole world was against her. Life had no meaning to her anymore.
She brought up a photo of Matt and her on a beach and thought of all the good times she had with Matt, the laughter, the goofiness, the romantic moments. She smiled, but for some reason, she didn't know, the urge to cry wasn't there anymore. It was like she'd lost all her emotions.
Amy's eyes lit up as she thought of something. Charles must have sent people to go visit James and kidnap him. Amy was a bit sad at this because she had forgotten about him. Amy was so wrapped up with her tribulations that other things were tuned out of her mind.
While Amy was thinking, she noticed something on the document she was about to process. Normally when she typed in the date of the document written on the front page, the destination address of the document would pop up, and she would write them back to the document, along with other processes.
All the time she'd been doing this, it was always the same address she was writing back, which made sense because that address was going to be sent to the genuine founder of this company.
This time, however, it was different. It was going to a place somewhere in South Africa. Amy was naturally curious, so she began reading its content.
Mr Macaulay,
It has come to my attention that the omega chip was confirmed to be with James Smith. Contrary to what you speculated, it had not been activated yet, so I'm waiting for your take on this.
Nevertheless, if you want the chip safe and secure, we would like some compensation given that we send talented elites to search for this chip from James. Thank you for your understanding.
AIRC Manager, Charles Adams.
Amy was surprised. The date on which this was written was January 13, 2023, at 08:33 am, and today was the tenth, which means he would have been sent a reply through Amy.
One thing though, he mentioned something about a group of elites. If she remembered, she was the only one sent to spy on James, so whatever 'elites' were mentioned here is just a method by Charles to package more money from the person he was working within the dark.
Amy hastily searched through the rest of the documents she had on her desk, and here it is the reply letter! She opened the letter and was surprised.
Mr Charles,
I would like to appreciate you for a job well done for confirming the location of the chip. However, the transaction is not yet complete, as I still do not see the chip in my hand.
As for the confirmation on when to begin the extraction: 15th, which is Sunday, you are going to send the team to perform the extraction, no worries, I'll pay you and your elites handsomely if this goes through without hitches.
Macaulay Griffin.
It turned out they haven't yet gone to kidnap James after all. That's interesting, Amy thought, as she stroked her chin deep in thought. Suddenly, Amy's face became bright with an idea.
"What if I go foil their plans eh? If I cannot protect my innocent own boyfriend, why don't I protect another innocent young boy from harm, this way I'm going to compensate for my inability to save what was one mine" Amy thought and smiled wildly.
Three days ago, Matt died a tragic death. No one came to comfort her, no one hugged her and cried with her, and the only thing she received was a slap and a shattered heart.
Amy could not describe the hatred she felt with everyone around her. She hates all her coworkers, she hates her manager, she hates herself, she hates the very life she was being given.
Amy finished processing all the paperwork, then ran the sandbox and ran a browser. However, she did not search for any animal torture anymore, as this did not satisfy her again, instead she downloaded a tor browser and typed a portal to the dark web.
Once on the web, she began searching for unimaginable and crazy things. Something inside Amy was broken, and she knew it, and it didn't seem that it would ever heal. A once timid and kind young woman had turned into a psychopath and crazy. The irony made her laugh lightly. She could not believe that her entire mindset changed dramatically, all because of the death of Matt.
"Hi, Amy" Henry called as he approached Amy's table. Amy stopped what she was doing and glared at Henry. "Wow, you seemed happy today. Thank goodness you snapped out from your, you know, your grief." Henry smiled slyly.
Amy was beyond irritated. She wished she had a knife, or a gun so that she would kill this bastard in her front. She hasn't felt this strong emotion before, especially when it comes to killing a person.
"If you are still feeling down, you are invited to go see my therapist, they say he's the best in the city, perhaps he could help you fully recover and continue with your life"
You know what was funny, Henry wasn't even mentioning Matt's death, he only kept talking about Amy's grief, and why she should go visit his therapist. It was like he didn't even acknowledge Matt as a human at all.
Not that she cares anyway. Amy ignored Henry and continued what she was doing. Henry became slightly infuriated, he then dragged his chair closer to Amy's table.
"Amy, am I not speaking to you? That disrespect you showed me yesterday was not something I would tolerate here anymore. If I ask you a question, you answer you understand?" Henry barked but received no response.
Henry glared at Amy, then bowed his head down and rubbed his forehead "Amy look around. Ever since you came here, no one had cared about you, you are like a nobody to them, more like a living mannequin that only does as ordered.
"You think because you created something revolutionary meant that you would be respected here? Others did amazing things that you would never dream of before coming here, so stop acting like you owned this world.
I am the only one that keeps coming here day in day out, and yes, we might have our difference, but not once, have I ever hurt you, but you still keep rejecting me, what is your problem, Amy?"
Amy took a glance at Henry before focusing on the screen once again. She saw Henry in her peripheral vision still glaring at her, but she did not make any reaction.
Finally, Henry stood up and left the room, but before he left, he turned back and gave Amy a death stare. "No one has ever rejected me and got away with it. Trust me, Amy, by the time I'm done with you, you would come back and beg me for mercy" he then left.
Amy felt a wave of anger brewing up, but she shoved them down. "Not now Amy, not now, you still have time" she mumbled. She had planned to avenge Matt's death and finally take down this company forever.
