Amy looked at the time on her watch, which displayed 03:58 pm, so she began packing all her stuff into her bag. She shut down her computer and properly bundled the pending documents back to the desk drawer. She then stood up from her chair and left her desk.
Maybe she was overthinking this, but Amy could sense that people around her looking at her weirdly. They were all staring at her angrily and whispering to each other.
Amy did not put any thought into this at all. Instead, she briskly walked into the elevator with a high head and pressed a button, which caused the elevator to hum silently as it made its way down. When she arrived on the last floor, she walked out of the elevator and towards the exit.
Just as she was nearing the door, someone shoulder bumped her, causing her to almost drop the smartphone she was holding. "Watch out you pussy" the man said smugly. Amy stared at the man that insulted her. It was the IT guy on her floor she always saw often.
"You watch your back stupid" Amy said and turned around. "Wait, just hold on. Did you just talk back at me?" the IT guy turned back and hollered angrily. Amy had no time to engage in a brawl with this guy, so she picked up the pace and left, but it seemed that the guy was not done with her.
The guy approached Amy, dragged her hair and yanked them violently. This action caused Amy to squeal in pain. The man then dragged Amy's hair towards his face and twisted his face in rage "From now henceforth, if I did not give you orders to talk, you don't talk, not even the manager would help you if you test me" the man spoke in a gruff voice.
Amy became hot with anger. She spat phlegm on his eyes, causing the man to release her hair as he tried to wipe the saliva from his face, but Amy was not done with him yet, she was just getting started.
Once upon a time she had done nothing but try to make a good impression and be friendly to her coworkers, but now it seemed that it was not worth the trying anymore. She was only getting hurt the more she tried to be friendly with these dogs that worked with Charles.
Amy took the razor blade she kept in her purse and attacked the IT guy. She used all her strength and bore the blade into the man's face, causing the man to scream out loud. The blood she saw coming out of his face only made her crazy the more, as she used her legs and raked him down and slashed his face repeatedly.
The security personnel had already arrived at the commotion and separated them. "Stop fighting" one of them with a deep voice shouted, as they pulled Amy away from the man and took the razor blade from Amy. The man was still on the floor holding his face and groaning in pain.
One of the security personnel then touched his ears and spoke "Sir there appears to be a problem on the first floor…. Amy Penn… yes sir…. Yes, the IT man was attacked….no sir…. Yes, sir, I'll bring her right away. The security men then approached Amy and took her by the arm. Amy was then dragged back to the elevator. They were taking her to Charles.
Moments later, by the time she arrived at his office, she was already reeling in pain from her scalp. The hair pulling must have severed the hair roots on her head, causing her intense pain.
"Thank you very much, you can leave" Charles ordered them. When Amy opened her eyes, she realized Charles was not alone. By his side was no other than Henry, and two other businessmen.
Charles stared at Amy for a very long time before breaking the silence. "Amy, Amy, Amy, you are starting to grow wings. Not only did you disrespect me, you still had the guts to harm my employee" he growled.
Amy did not respond to his statement. She kept panning her eyes all over the room like she did not care about what he was saying.
"Look at me carefully Amy" he ordered, but Amy was too preoccupied to answer him. She kept looking at the men a few feet away from her. There was something sinister about these people, but she could not put a pin on what it was.
"Amy!" Charles shouted, which successfully gained Amy's attention. Amy stared straight into Charles's eyes without fear. For some reason, she did not have an ounce of fear for this man anymore.
She then turned and stared at Henry. The feeling of deep hatred began to brew inside of her, but she did not show it, instead, she made a disgusting face and smiled slyly.
Henry could not take it anymore, so he grabbed Amy's hair and yanked it on the table, slashing her forehead instantly. "Ow ow ow!" she screamed in pain. As if it was not worse than her scalp was hurting her right now, Henry just grabbed it again, and yanked her head on the table, splitting her forehead, causing her more pain.
Amy could feel warm blood trickling through her face. The blood was so much it was dripping constantly on the floor. Amy began to feel a bit dizzy. "Look at the mess you just did to my table! Take a look at it. You know what, don't even bother, you are fired. Do not step a foot into this institution anymore, otherwise, you would join your miserable boyfriend in hell!" Charles barked, glaring into Amy's eye.
Amy was more than thrilled. She could not believe that she was leaving this company that easy. This was something she wanted to do for a long time ever since she knew about the dirty secret of Charles, but she withheld it because of her life and the life of her late boyfriend, but right now, she was more than happy to leave.
But something told her that she would not be allowed to go that easy. She already knew too much of the company's secret, so she suspected that she might be followed everywhere she went and probably killed if alone.
"But sir, he attacked me first," she said sarcastically, pouting her lips. Charles then slumped into his chair, took out his telephone and called the security. When the security arrived, he ordered them to drag Amy out of the company. "I do not want to see the face of this bastard in this institution anymore, make sure of that" he conclusively said.
Amy was roughly thrown out of the building. She fell so hard she twisted her wrist. Amy could hear people laughing from inside the reception office. Amy then struggled to stand up as she headed to her car.
She tripped multiple times until she climbed to the driver seat and sigh. The throbbing headache and her aching wrist were preventing her from thinking clearly, so she took out her pain killer from her purse. She threw the drugs, chewed and swallowed them without drinking any water.
Amy then closed her eye and waited for the medicine to do its work. It seemed that her life was falling apart, and the feeling of being alone in the world was even making her contemplate suicide more often than normal.
Amy genuinely would not struggle at all if someone wanted to kill her right now. She would even thank her killer for helping her leave this cruel world. She breathes deeply and sighs inwardly.
She has to go to Boston first thing tomorrow so that she warns and probably protect James and his family from Charles. This boy cannot just die in the hands of these monsters when he had a full life ahead of him, so she promised in her heart that she was going to warn and protect James, and then avenge her boyfriend's death.
Amy took out the laptop she left in her car and booked a flight going to Boston, Massachusetts.
