Chereads / I Got Married In Vegas?!?! / Chapter 11 - eleven

Chapter 11 - eleven

After the incident at Jade's home, which had been almost a month ago, Monet decided to try and get a protection order against her family. She had shown the police the threatening texts and them listen to the voicemails they sent as well, but it was rejected even after these assholes had all the evidence they needed. It pissed Monet off to no end to have that rejected because her wellbeing was at stake. She knew that the police wouldn't act until she was dead and that made her even more angry.

Because of this entire incident, Jade's door had to be replaced and fixed, which came out of Jade's pocket. Monet promised to pay her back, but the brown skinned woman assured her that it was fine. Monet still felt bad about the entire situation because she felt as if it was her fault that her father and brother had shown up at her door and acted that way. Had Monet just obeyed her parents none of this would have happened in the first place.

As for Adrián, he was a little worried about the two, which they found to be sweet considering how he did not know them very well. He also offered to have Monet stay at his place when she expressed her concerns about living with Jade. She appreciated the offer, but she respectfully turned it down. However, that didn't stop him from worrying at all nor did it stop him from convincing her to buy pepper spray and a taser.

Even Jade agreed with Adrián on the pepper spray and taser thing. She even suggested that Monet take a self defense class so that way she knew how to defend herself in situations like that same incident. Monet agreed to it, but she decided I do it after she found a job with good, stable income.

Aside from that entire situation, Monet had been searching for job after job after job, but none seemed to interest her in terms of pay. Monet needed something that would at least pay her enough money to split the rent in half with Jade and at least help her to start getting her career as a fashion designer off the ground. Not only that, but she really needed a car as well. Her parents didn't buy her one at all, which made her truly dependent on everyone else, especially now and during college as well. She already had her license anyway and she always made sure to renew it so she could someday get behind the wheel.

"Why is job searching so hard?" Monet groaned flopping face down onto the comfortable couch. Jade chuckled from the counter.

"Who said it would be easy?" Jade asked.

"I wish it was easy so that I can at least find a job that will pay me enough to pay half the rent and buy a car," Monet answered.

"Well you just have to keep looking harder until you find one that's right for you," Jade said.

"I will, but you'd think that people would at least want something who has experience with working at a corporation as a secretary for six months while going to school," Monet sighed.

"Ooh! I almost forgot like an idiot, but this woman I met a couple months ago because of this little get together is looking for someone to be her assistant. She owns her own label to be precise," Jade informed her.

"Are you going to have me work for Amanda Priestly?" Monet asked. A knock sounded on the door of the apartment letting them know that someone was here.

"No I'm not going to have you work for Amanda Priestly," Jade laughed. She walked over peeked into the peephole before letting their guest in. Their guest turned out to be Adrián.

"You constantly drop by here during your free time and it kind of makes me wonder about whether not you have a job," Jade said.

"Oh ha ha. You're so funny," Adrián sarcastically quipped.

"He does have a job, Jade," Monet spoke up, "He's a photographer."

"A photographer? Where?" Jade inquired.

"Castillo Photography," They answered in unison.

"What? You own that place?" Jade asked.

"Yeah," Adrián nodded.

"Wow. You guys take such good pictures," Jade said.

"Guys? There's more of you within your business?" Monet asked.

"Yeah," Adrián nodded, "It's just a couple of us there and only two are childhood friends."

"Ohh," Monet nodded.

"Plus we have our own different styles," He said.

"Are there any creative differences?" Monet asked.

"At first, but we figured that we all have our own style and trying to change it is pointless. Don't get me wrong, we're all pretty versatile within our own rights," Adrián explained.

"At least you're pursuing your dream," Monet sighed. Adrián walked over to the couch and sat down beside her. He lifted her legs and placed them on his lap.

"You'll get there, Monet. Don't worry," He assured her. Jade smirked knowingly at the sight before her.

"For two people who claimed to just know each other, they sure are close," Jade thought to herself, "Maybe there will be an actual wedding in the future."

Jade began to daydream fondly about the idea of being Monet's Maid of Honor. She even thought about the beautiful dress her best friend would wear and that she, as the Maid of Honor, would wear as well. Just thinking about it made the brown skinned woman so happy to the point of where she was smiling like a weirdo while staring at nothing.

Monet and Adrián saw her with a weird expression on her face and both were extremely weirded out.

"Does she usually do this?" Adrián whispered to her.

"No, but don't look at her," Monet whispered back.

"Oh believe me. I won't," He agreed.

"Since that incident at my wedding happened, did you ever tell your mother about what happened in Vegas or did you chicken out?" Monet inquired. Adrian's face seemed to go pale from that question, which told Monet all that she needed to know. He did not tell his mother that he had eloped in Vegas.

"So you mean to tell me that after all this time you were encouraging me to tell my parents, which pretty much resulted in my relationship with my parents completely destroyed, that you didn't tell her at all when she has a right to know?" Monet inquired. She sat up and moved her legs off of him while also putting some distance. She was very disappointed in him for not even telling his own mother about their marriage in the first place.

"I'm sorry, but she's just so...so...so scary," He told her.

"Adrián, my dad has been sending me texts telling me that he wants to kill me along with my brother, which I know they mean anyway. Telling her cannot be worse than that," Monet told him.

"You don't even know the half," He mumbled.

"Adrián," Monet sighed in exasperation, "You have to tell her. You seriously need to tell her that you are married to me, a complete stranger to you. Not to mention that I'm black too."

"I know," Adrián groaned, "But its kind of hard for me to tell the woman who gave birth to me and actually wanted to see me get married with her own eyes that I got eloped in Vegas without her knowing."

"That's all the more reason why you should tell her. Of course she'll be angry, but you also understand why she's angry in the first place," Monet told him.

"Fine," He mumbled.

"When?" Monet questioned.

"How about this Saturday? I'm supposed to visit her that day anyway," He replied.

"That works for me," Monet patted his leg. She noticed that Jade wasn't in the room, which meant that she must've given them space so they could talk.

"There's another thing we need to talk about as well," Monet said.

"And that is?" He asked.

"This," She gestured between the both of them. He cocked an eyebrow.

"What about this?" He questioned.

"What is going on here, Adrián? Between us? After the entire ordeal in Vegas, I thought that we would go our separate ways, but you turned up at my wedding and helped me ruin it, you hung with me that day, and you slept with me for the second time that week as well. Not to mention that you're constantly helping me too and just completely being there for me," Monet explained, "So please define what this is so I don't get my hopes up."

Adrián could tell how serious she was when she brought up the entire subject and he couldn't blame her.  They've only known each other for a month and yet somehow he felt like they've known each other for years. Of course it was crazy to say that he had fallen in love with her at this rate, but he could definitely say his feelings were defined as "like"

"Honestly," Adrián started to say, "I didn't know what to define it as at first, but there is something about you that makes me want to be by your side. I kind of had that feeling after getting to know you for less than a minute."

"What are you trying to say?" Monet asked softly. Within her heart of hearts, she hoped that he wouldn't say anything stupid or hurtful to her. She did not think she would take it if someone she allowed into her space turned out to be like that, hurtful.

"Don't get all upset, Monet. I'm saying that I want to know you, Monet Simmons, a little better," He said.

"Really? You're not just saying that?" Monet asked.

"No I'm not," He shook his head.

"During this time, can we completely disregard our marriage?" She questioned.

"Of course we can," Adrián responded.

"Great," Monet smiled.

"That also means that we can't have sex," Adrián told her. In that moment, Monet felt like her world had ended. She felt like the ground had cracked and gates of hell had opened. That's how she felt when Adrián told her that they wouldn't be having sex for the time being. Sex with him was like a drug and she was addicted.

"Monet, it's not the end of the world," He rolled his eyes.

"It most definitely is!" She hissed. Adrián rolled his eyes at her dramatic reaction. She was just as worse as her friends if not more.

"Can you just hold off on sex for just a little while? It's not going to be the end of the world," Adrián said, "Plus it'll be worth it in the end."

"So you say," She muttered bitterly.

"Is having sex with me all that important?" He asked.

"Yes!" Monet exclaimed.

"Wow. I'm glad I walked in at the right moment," Jade remarked.

"He's trying to ban me from sex," Monet whined. After hearing that information, Jade gasped loudly, and dramatically I might add, then looked at him like he killed a cat or something.

"You watch your filthy mouth!" She said. All Adrián could do was just roll his eyes and massage his temple.

"If this is how most women feel, then I hate it," He mumbled.

"Maybe he's only excluding sex that involves penetration," Jade said.

"I meant all sex, you two," He replied.

"Wait. Y'all have been doing anal? Since when?" Jade inquired.

"Huh? Oh he got me into it a couple days ago," Monet answered, "It actually feels good to be honest."

"Really? Benjamin has been wanting me to try it, but I'm too scared," Jade told her.

"Whaaaaat? Out of everybody I know you're the main person I thought who would have tried it by now," Monet said.

"Oh I've been asked, but I rejected immediately," Jade murmured.

"Wow. You're a much more vanilla person than I thought," Monet chuckled.

"I am not vanilla, asshole!" Jade exclaimed.

"Yes you are, Jade. There's nothing wrong with that," Monet laughed.

"Don't you two think we're getting off topic?" Adrián asked. They seemed to ignore him, which annoyed him, but he let them have their moment.

"You're so fucking annoying!" Jade snapped. Monet continued laughing at her best friend. Jade gave her the finger and then walked out of the kitchen.

"Can we get back on topic?" Adrián asked from the couch.

"Sorry," Monet gave him an apologetic smile. She walked over and sat down next to him on the couch.

"No problem," He said.

"I still find it inhumane to not have sex with me," Monet remarked.

"Well let it be inhumane because I want to get know Monet," He chuckled, "I think I already know you're body well enough now."

Monet felt heat pool between her thighs as soon as he said that. Jesus. He had a way with words and he knew it. He knew what to say to drive her crazy.

"That's so unfair. You're saying stuff like that and it's driving me crazy," She whined. He laughed.

"Well just be patient because you're not touching any of this for a while," He smirked.

"Adrián, at least let us have one last hurrah before you completely cut me off," She said.

"If I do that, then you'll just ask me for more," He told her.

"And? Just indulge me for once," She pouted.

"DON'T BE FUCKING ON MY DAMN COUCH!" Jade yelled from her bedroom.

"Somehow, that makes me want to do it even more," Monet mumbled.

"Same, but starting now we're not doing anything sexual at all," He patted her thigh.

"Adrián!" She whined.
