Chereads / I Got Married In Vegas?!?! / Chapter 12 - twelve

Chapter 12 - twelve

"How does this dress look, Jade?" Monet inquired. The brown skinned woman looked up from the magazine she was reading and at her best friend. It was the fated day that Monet met Adrián's mother and she was extremely nervous. Of course she had talked a big game and made it seem like it was no big deal to meet his mother and tell her that they had eloped, but she also didn't want the woman to hate her or anything like that. She didn't want the woman to think she was taking away her son and using him for some devious plot.

"What's with that dress?" Jade laughed. Monet frowned as she looked down at the dress that she had picked out. It was one of her appropriate items of clothing for this occasion, and her mother had actually bought this dress. She thought she looked good but from the way her best friend was reacting, she didn't.

"It's not a bad dress don't get me wrong, but it's just too dressy for a causal meeting. It feels more like a dress you would wear if you were going to church with them," Jade informed her.

"Ohh. Now I get what you're saying," Monet nodded, "I guess I'll have to change then."

"Where did you get that dress from?" Jade asked.

"New York & Company. Surprisingly, my mom thought it would look good on me so she bought it," Monet answered.

"Whaaaaat? I thought that woman only knew about the JCPenny clearance rack in terms of fashion," Jade said. Monet laughed. It was true that her mother didn't wear anything that she couldn't find at JCPenny or Belk. There was nothing wrong with it, but sometimes the woman would push those stores and their selections that she found cute onto Monet.

"Bitch, I hate you," Monet chortled.

"Girl, you know it's true. Yo momma dress like one of those old deaconesses at the church," Jade chuckled.

"Jade, you're the worst," Monet giggled.

"Anyways, do you want me to help you get ready?" Jade inquired.

"Sure. I need all the help I can get," Monet nodded.

"Great because we're going to make you look causal and cute at the same time," Jade told her. The two women left her bedroom and headed straight to Monet's room. Monet began stripping out of the dress and she handed it to Jade who hung it up before looking through the closet.

"Let's keep it cute and simple," Jade said. She handed Monet a black and white striped, t-shirt dress and a pair of yellow Birkenstock's.

"Ooh. This could work," Monet said.

"Of course it does because it's casual and cute," Jade told her. Monet changed out of the outfit she was wearing and put on the outfit Jade presented to her. After putting it on, Monet went to the bathroom to check her hair and make up. She decided not to do something too extravagant for when she met his mother. She decided to do a soft beat and just put her hair into waves.

A knock sounded at the apartment door and Monet went to answer the door. Adrián stood on the other side in a pair of light colored jeans, a gray t-shirt, and sneakers.

"You look beautiful," He smiled at her.

"I know. I always do," Monet smirked. With the smile still on his face, he rolled his eyes at her. He kissed her on the cheek and walked inside.

"You look handsome. Almost makes me want to push you down," Monet remarked.

"Too bad that isn't happening any time soon," Adrián said. The woman frowned deeply at his response. She had hoped that he would give in to the most blunt statement she made, but no. He shot it down quickly like Dikembe Mutombo.

"Ugh! You're no fun," Monet moaned.

"Yeah, yeah. Are you ready?" He asked.

"I'm ready," Monet answered.

"Being ready is nice to hear. It's always great to be ready for the expected and the unexpected as well," He said. He was hiding something. Monet could see that he was for sure hiding something with the way he was talking.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"What? Nothing's wrong," He answered.

"Nothings wrong, you say?" She cocked an eyebrow.

"Yeah. Everything's great," He smiled.

"Adrián, you're lying," She said in a sing-song voice. He sighed out of exasperation as soon as she said that.

"Fine. My mom might have told quite a few people that I was bringing a girl home," He confessed.

"She what?!" Monet exclaimed. Her yelling caused him to wince and back up a little in case she decided to hurt, even though she wasn't the type to put her hands on somebody when upset.

"Hold on. Do you mean a handful of people?" She inquired.

"That depends on what you describe a handful as," He answered. She glared icily at him causing him to flinch once again.

"Okay. Maybe she told my aunt who told my cousin who told her sister who told-"

"Adrián!" Monet snapped.

"Fine. Just about half of my family know about you coming over," He quickly said.

"Adrián!" Monet exclaimed.

"I know. I know. I know, Monet, but I didn't think she would do that at all. In fact, I thought it would be just us three not the entire Apollo Theatre," He said.

"Adrián, as nervous as I am to meet your mother and to tell her that we got eloped in Vegas on accident, it's bad enough that I have to tell her and your relatives as well," Monet hissed.

"I understand what you're saying and I understand how you feel considering how a month ago I did the same," He responded. Monet let out a loud groan and sat down on the couch.

"Monet, I apologized for this change in our plans and I will make it up to you somehow," Adrián sat down next to her. The man felt bad for everything that was happening and hoped that his family would not scare her off too bad.

"Oh you owe me big time," She muttered.

"I understand that and I promise to do anything you like," He said. When Monet heard that, she perked up a little bit and smirked at him.

"Sex is off the table, Mo," He deadpanned.

"What the-? That's unfair, Adrián. How do you tell me that I can do anything I like and still tell me that sex is off the table?" She whined.

"Because we made a deal, Monet, and we're not breaking it," He replied.

"No no no. You had a one sided deal, Mister. I'm just being tortured for some weird reason," Monet told him.

"Either way you're still not touching me in that way," He said.

"Ugh! This is so unfair," She groaned.

"Yeah well life isn't fair," He countered.

"Adrián, please. Just one little touch. That's all I'm asking for," Monet pokes out her bottom lip and gave him puppy dog eyes. The man looked at her for a moment and then shook his head. As tempting as it was to have her on top of him, it was still a hard no. He was not going to go back on his word.

"Please, Adrián. Let me just have one little touch," She begged in a seductive tone.

"Stay strong, Adrián," He thought to himself. After noticing that he wasn't letting up, Monet sighed to herself loudly.

"Fine. I won't touch you, but I want a kiss," She told him.

"A kiss?" He asked.

"Mhm," She nodded.

"Alright. I can do that," He said. She noticed how he began to relax once she confirmed that was what she wanted. She finally decided to just go along with his rule and tone it down a bit. Not having sex for a while wouldn't be so bad and she had her trusty vibrator and her imagination to fall back on.

Monet laced her fingers with his and pulled him close before pressing her lips against his softly.

"Better?" He asked breathlessly.

"Mm-mm. Another one," She responded. He smiled and kissed her again.
