After the unfortunate run-in with her brother and his friends, Monet went ahead and filled out the application for a restraining order towards her brother. Jade went with her to get it as moral support since Adrían was working back to back. She was grateful towards her best friend for being there with her. She didn't know what she would do without Jade.
However, Monet knew that the restraining order wasn't going to be easily approved because of the fact that they were her family in the first place, but she had to try. They were a serious threat to her well-being and the well-being of those around her as well. She couldn't allow them to just do as they pleaded because they were upset about her breaking off the marriage to Trevor.
Aside from the restraining order, she began to think about the possibility of just moving away completely. Adrían, as much as she didn't want to leave him behind, made a good point. Staying here was only going to cause her more suffering and she didn't want that at all. She wanted to be able to live peacefully without being under her parents' oppressive and outdated rules. Once she heard this suggestion from Adrían, Jade encouraged Monet to at least think about it. Her best friend felt that it might be a good idea for her to move somewhere else and start a fresh.
Jade shuffled into the kitchen yawning and scratching her stomach, "Morning, Mo."
"Morning," Monet mumbled. The other woman walked over to the cabinets to look to see what was in there. Her eyes scanned the selection of ingredients they had before closing it.
"Nothing to eat," Jade thought aloud. This made Monet look at her friend incredulously. There was plenty in the cabinet for her to eat. She just had to prepare it, but she was being super lazy from what Monet could see.
"I'm gonna order some breakfast," Jade sighed.
"Lazy," Monet muttered under her breath.
Jade chuckled as she plopped down into the bar chair next to her, "And proud of it."
"What are you ordering?" Monet inquired.
"Don't know yet," Jade responded."
"Let me know when you order something."
"Okay."
The two women went back to what they needed to do until Jade finally let out a loud noise, gaining the attention of her best friend.
"We're going out to eat! No if's, ands, or buts. I'm hungry, you're hungry, and I don't feel like cooking," Jade announced, "Get dressed in your best outfit because we're going out to brunch!"
Monet stared at her best friend with wife eyes as she declared what they were going to do today. She was stunned, but appreciative of the idea. That bowl of cereal she had wasn't filling enough and she's been looking for an excuse to drink bottomless mimosas by the minute. They were lucky that it was Sunday too because the amount of breakfast spots in the city were endless.
"How should I dress?"
"All I gotta say is that you better dress to impress. You may have a man now, but you need every other man to drool over you."
In other words, show up and show out. She better dress to impress and show a little skin on the way too. She can't go out any kind of way with Jade. That would be embarrassing her best friend.
"Ready?"
"Ready."
The two women walked out of their apartment together looking as good as ever. They were definite showstoppers with the way they looked.
As the two women got off the elevator of their building, they heard, "Monet?"
The two of them turned around to find Adrían standing there.
"I'll be out in a minute," She informed Jade.
"If he wants to come along, then that's alright with me. He just ain't stopping my game," her best friend nodded. That made the other woman roll her eyes and chuckle.
"Okay. See you in a minute."
She approached her husband who was noticeably checking her out. Could she blame him? She was wearing a short, halter crochet dress, black, lace up, high heel sandals with roses, and a small pink purse to match. Her hair was in a half up, half down 90's auntie hairstyle with a cute slicked down bang to match.
"So...where you going looking like that?" he asked.
"Our for brunch with Jade," she answered. He continued to look her up and down as if she were a snack, even though she was a snack he couldn't taste just yet.
"Like that?" he inquired.
"Mhm," she responded, smiling.
"Nah. You changing," he smiled back. Her face fell into a frown and she began pouting, stomping her feet. He had to admit that it was kind of cute seeing her pout like that, but he didn't need some clown trying to push up on her.
"Adrían," she whined.
"You look beautiful, baby, but go change," he replied. She stood back from him a little, folded her arms under her chest, and pursed her lips defiantly.
"No."
"Monet, I'm not playing with you."
"Cool cause I'm not either. I'm going out in this whether you like it or not. Bye."
Swiftly, she turned on her heel and sauntered out of the lobby, leaving him cursing underneath his breath.
"Monet!" he called out to her, following behind her. She ignored him as she kept on walking. Listening to him was not something she was going to do. She was going to walk out of that building in this outfit whether he liked it or not.
As soon as she opened the door to the car, he closed it and she looked at him, then turned to knock on the window.
"Yeah?" Jade said.
"We'll meet you there," Monet informed her best friend.
"Alrighty. See you there," Jade responded. Her best friend drove off to their destination, leaving the couple with each other.
"Listen, Adrían. I've dealt with two adults in my life controlling everything I do from the time I was born and I'm not about to deal with a third adult doing that. I'm a grown ass woman who can wear what she wants, when she wants and you can't fucking stop me. Okay?" she explained.
"I'm not comfortable with you wearing this because you know how crazy these dudes get," he replied.
"Okay and? I've got all the protection I need in this little ass purse. Don't you worry your handsome little head about it, alright? Besides, they won't try nothing with you right there," she pulled him closer by the waistband of his pants. He felt guilty for doing all of that because she's dealt with stuff like that all her life and as her partner, he couldn't subject her to that at all. He should subject her to it and he would work on it.
"C'mon. We're going downtown for brunch," she told him. He stood there for a second and watched as she walked away.
"That dress is problematic," he thought to himself. A small smile formed on his features and he walked after her. He caught up to her and laced their fingers together.
They arrived at the brunch spot and headed inside after making out in the car a little. They headed inside and went straight out to the patio where Jade was.
"Finally, you guys are here. I was getting bored as hell and these guys here aren't that cute," Jade shook her head.
"Speaking of guys, how's the sugar daddy?" Monet questioned.
"Good, good. We're dating now and did you know that he has lipgloss on his lips? Such a nice shade on him," Jade rambled.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back up," the brown skinned woman said.
"What do you mean?" her best friend feigned ignorance.
"You know what I mean. What did you just say?" Monet asked, pointing a finger at her.
"May I take your drink orders?" the server asked, approaching their table.
"Three mimosas please," Jade smiled softly.
Their server nodded as she jotted down their drink orders, "I'll be right on it. Did you need some more time with the menu or were you ready to order?"
"Some more time," Adrían spoke up.
"Alrighty. I'll be right out with those drinks."
Their attention was now on the bougie woman right across from them. She was sipping her water and trying hard to avoid the heated gaze of her best friend.
"Spill."
Unable to go against her best friend, the bougie woman spilled her fucking guts like a gutted pig. She explained the entire situation to them while they listened intently. The only interruptions they had were from their server who was bringing them their mimosas. Other than that, they listened to Jade fully without interrupting or judging too early.
"So y'all got into an argument because he wants a relationship and you aren't sure of it?" Monet questioned.
"Yeah," Jade nodded.
"What are you so unsure of? He's rich, takes care of you like a sugar daddy should, flies you out on his private jet, books the best hotels when you take a trip, and sends you designer things almost every single second. What's the problem?" Monet asked.
"I'm scared to be honest," her best friend confessed.
"What's there to be afraid of?" Adrían chimed in.
"I've had guys say that they want to be with me so they can treat me right, take me out, and do all these romantics things, but then they just end up cheating on me with somebody else. It makes me wonder if I'm cursed to have all my partners cheat on me, even though he's older," Jade explained.
"Being older doesn't mean shit. There's men his age who talk that loyalty shit and then go on to be cheaters. Hell, my dad is one of those bastards," Monet replied, "I'm sure that this man will never ever cheat on you. Has he had any other sugar babies since he met you?"
"No. He told me that I was his one and only," she answered, smiling.
"There you go, Jade. Give him a chance and if he turns out to be one of those bastards, then break his kneecaps with that metal bat of mine," Monet added.
"Thank you, Mo and shorty. I really appreciate that," Jade smiled softly.
"No problem. Besides, I'm not about to let you pass up a billionaire," Monet giggled.
"If the roles were reversed, I wouldn't let you do the same either," Jade chuckled.
"What does he look like?" Monet questioned, "You never showed me a picture and I've been assuming that he's white."
"White?! Girl, no. Fuck no," Jade made a face.
"What? You never showed a picture and your dating history has been kind of..." Monet trailed off.
"Girl, shut yo ass up and take a look at this picture. You so damn trifling for assuming that," Jade hissed, showing her a picture.
"He's definitely not white," Monet remarked.
"Yeah. Now, shut the hell up," Jade grumbled. Monet and Adrían shared a laugh while she cursed them out.
"What does he do?" Adrían asked, "He looks familiar."
"He owns his own video game company. He's a huge video game nerd," Jade answered.
"Wait. I know him," Adrían said.
"You do?" Monet and Jade asked.
"Yeah, yeah. He's the co-founder of Sabertooth games," Adrían answered, "I play some of his stuff."
"When did it launch?" Monet questioned.
"Twelve years ago," the Dominican responded.
"You met him around seven years ago in college," the brown skinned woman said.
"That was their peak. That's when Vengeance came out," Adrían added.
"Wow. You got with a well known rich man," Monet replied.
"A rich man that knows how to eat pussy," Jade smirked.
"Okay a) gross and b) gross," Adrían grimaced. The other woman cackled loudly as she sipped her mimosa.
"I need another mimosa," Monet said, downing her first one.
"Uh-oh. Looks like the Dominican papi is about to eat something other than brunch today," Jade smirked.
A mischievous smile formed on Adrían's face, "you bet."
"What about the agreement?" Jade questioned.
"Called it off," the couple replied in unison.
"Why?" Jade asked, teasingly.
"We're horny," Monet answered while Adrían nodded.
Jade chuckled, "Good enough for me."
