Chereads / I Got Married In Vegas?!?! / Chapter 15 - fifteen

Chapter 15 - fifteen

It had been four months since Monet's wedding to that bastard had gone up in smokes thanks to her, Adrían, and Jade, and things couldn't be better. Her new job, although it was fast paced and left no room for error, was amazing and she loved every single second of it. Not to mention that she made more connections within the couple of months she had been there than in college and had gained new inspiration for her own designs.

As for her adjustment into her newfound independence, Monet was finally able to help her best friend pay rent and build up her savings from scratch. She was also able to look for cars that would help her get to and from work as well since her old one was at her parents' home.

In addition, her relationship with Adrían was going very smoothly and the both of them were always scheduling dates every single weekend with each other. Monet was glad she was able to get to know Adrían a little more and she could honestly admit that she was loving every inch of the personality of the man she had married.

On the other hand, her parents, brother, and Trevor's messages had completely stopped, which she was grateful for, but they all managed to convince their flying monkeys to call, text, email, or whatever to convince her to go back to them. One of her uncles threatened to kidnap her and take her back to her parents, but she had reported him to the police with printed out copies of him saying that along with a voicemail he left repeating what he said. She was exhausted from the fact that she had to deal with this, but this is how her family was and she couldn't change that at all.

"Monet, how are you doing after all this went down?" Jade's mother, Leia, asked. Jade's parents asked Monet to come over with Jade so they could get some updates on her and her life.

"I'm doing fine. I'm getting my life on track and now I'm working a job in the fashion industry," She smiled.

"I'm so happy to hear that. That entire wedding was just a load of shit and meant to keep you subservient to a man who can't even keep his ding-a-ling in his pants," Jade's mother remarked. That statement made the three of them laugh. Trevor didn't know how to keep it in his pants and he chased anything with a vagina.

"Honestly, we should have gotten you out of that house the moment you graduated," Jade remarked.

"That would have been better," Monet responded. However, she's out of the house now and she's glad because being married to Trevor would have made it worse, especially when their parents were bent on meddling in their marriage.

"Speaking of your parents, they tried to come to my home and threaten me," Ms. Leia informed.

"Of course," Monet muttered under her breath. She didn't put it past her parents to try and harass Jade's parents. They were the types to do that with their crazy asses.

"Your father tried to come at me, but as soon as that shotgun was staring at him he wised up," Ms. Leia explained.

"Good. He needs to know that he can't just hurt people as he'd like," Monet murmured.

"Exactly. I've got a couple bullets for him, your mother, and your brother the next time they come to my house with that bullshit," Ms. Leia nodded. Like mother, like daughter.

"Speaking of bullets, you need to be in some type of self defense classes," Ms. Leia told Monet.

"She can always sign up for the one I'm in," Jade added.

"That's sounds good," Ms. Leia nodded.

"Adrían said that he would take me to the range one day," Monet informed them.

"Good. You need to learn how to shoot in case those fools try it again," Ms. Leia replied.

"Oh I most definitely will," Monet nodded.

At around six, Monet left to go and get ready for her date tonight with Adrían. He had suggested that they go out on one like most couples do and Monet agreed because they've only spent time at either his place or hers. It'll be nice for the two of them to just go out and eat.

When Adrían arrived, Monet let him in because she was still in the process of getting ready for their date tonight.

"Hey, Adrían," She greeted warmly.

"Hey, Mo. You ready?" He greeted back, smiling.

"Almost. I'm trying to find my shoes," She answered.

"Okay. Take your time," He nodded. She kissed his cheek and headed back to her room to search for her shoes. She looked through her closet until finally she found them resting on the floor. She rolled her eyes and slipped them on before grabbing her purse and leaving the room.

"Okay. I'm ready!" She announced. Adrían stood up from the couch and looked at his wife with a lustful gaze. Monet could tell that he appreciated what she was wearing and that made her heart flutter a bit.

"You sure you don't want to stay in and just fuck?" He questioned. She laughed softly.

"Yes, you vulgar horn dog," She shook her head, giggling.

"Damn it," He hissed under his breath.

"C'mon," She said, lacing her fingers with his. They both left the apartment together and headed down to Adrían's car.

"How did your visit with Jade's mom go?" He asked.

"It went well. She wants me to take self defense classes," She answered.

"You need to. We'll register you in a couple of days," He assured her.

"You're going with me?" She questioned.

"Of course I am. I want you to take lessons from the best of the best," He responded.

"Thanks, Adrían," She smiled.

"You're welcome," He nodded, helping her into the car. He closed the door and then jogged to the driver's side.

"If we can make it to at least a year or two, we can upgrade your ring," He remarked.

"That would be nice," Monet smiled, gazing down at the gold band on her finger. This same ring was a symbol of her freedom from her parents and an unhappy marriage. This ring represented the start of her finally living the life she wanted and not the one that her parents wanted for her.

"I'll get you an even bigger ring than this one," He said.

"My tastes are kind of expensive. Think you can handle it?" She joked. He chuckled.

"I most definitely can," He responded.

The couple arrived at the restaurant and the valets opened the doors for them. Monet wasn't expecting him to take her somewhere fancy enough with valet parking, but here they are.

"I'm glad you told me to dress nice," Monet said to Adrìan as he joined her on the sidewalk. He smiled softly and guided her inside the restaurant.

"Well, I only wanted the best for our first date," He smiled.

" I see and thank you," She beamed.

"You're welcome," He responded. He walked over to the host and gave them his last name. The host grabbed two menus and instructed them to follow her.

When they reached their table, Adrían pulled out her chair and she thanked as she sat down. He pushed it in for her and then sat in his seat. The host gave them their menus and let them know that their server would be out in a moment.

As soon as Monet opened her menu, her eyes bugged out of her head. She closed it immediately and looked at Adrían who was causally looking at his.

"Adrían, these prices are crazy," She whispered to him.

"Don't worry about the price, Mo. Just enjoy yourself," He said.

"But-"

"Monet," He firmly said. He gazed into her eyes and she knew then that he wasn't budging at all.

"Yes, Adrían," She mumbled.

"Besides money ain't a thing when it comes to you," He said.

"So of murder someone you'll pay my bail?" She asked.

"Hell no. You murder somebody, then I'm on the other side of the country," He responded.

"Not even for conjugal?" She asked, jokingly. He sat there contemplating that question for a moment as he sat there.

"Okay. Maybe I'll be there for that, but bail is still a no," He responded. She giggled at his response.

"Cheapskate," She teased in a sing-song voice. Their server came over moments later and took their drink orders. Adrían encouraged Monet to order one of the wines that she wanted to try off the menu, even though one glass was expensive, and she did. She felt bad about it, but she did.

"I already know the basic stuff about you and about your family too. Do you mind telling me about your college years?" He asked.

"You sure you want to hear about that?" She asked, smirking.

"Definitely. I need to know if you were a good girl or a bad girl in college," He smiled.

"For your information, I was a bad girl, but I became a good girl when going back home during the weekends and holidays," She informed him.

"Really? Was that hard?" He asked.

"Not really. I used to do it in high school when I was supposed to go over to my friend's house to study. I learned to keep my church girl persona and my party girl personas separate," She answered.

"Have you ever slipped up?" He questioned.

"There was one time during my sophomore year when I had this guy in my apartment one night and we were getting it on. My parents were calling me because they decided to drop by on their way from a trip they went on with my brother," Monet explained.

"And then what happened?" Adrían inquired.

"My dad heard me moan over the phone and he started getting angry. He was so mad that he threatened to hurt me and whenever was over there. He told me to stay right where I was with the guy so they could have a talk with me and then hung up," Monet responded.

"Ooh shit. That couldn't have gone well," He remarked.

"Believe me. It almost didn't. I kicked the guy out and promised to make it up to him when I got rid of them, which he understood. He left and I had to race around my room to just clean it up as best as I could and get the smell of that guy's cologne out too," Monet said, giggling.

"Did they catch you?" He questioned.

"No way. I somehow managed to convince them that it was some movie I was watching and it wasn't hard to find a movie like that," She answered.

"Did they ever suspect a thing after that?" He inquired.

"No, but they did drop by randomly sometimes and that made me have to go somewhere else to have sex," She responded.

"How long did that last?" He questioned.

"For six months and then they cooled it," I answered.

"Wow. You lived some exciting college years," He chuckled.

"Yeah I did and I don't regret any of it at all," She smiled.

"I'm glad you had fun during that time, despite your parents being a total pain in the ass," He said.

"Thank you. Now, I want to head about you. Did you go to college and have some crazy adventures or are you normal?" She inquired.

"Honestly, I didn't. My college years were a little more tame than yours and I went a few parties here and there, but nothing major," He informed.

"What? I would have thought hat you were the type to streak across the football butt naked or go skinny dipping in a pool in front of a bunch of people," Monet said.

"Nah. I wasn't bold enough for that," He chuckled.

"Not everybody's college experience is the same. Mine was wild and crazy for no damn reason," She giggled.

"I can't blame you for letting loose during those years. Your parents were holding you back from a lot of things and you needed to cut loose somehow," He smiled.

"You're right," She nodded.

"Plus I was tame in college because my teenage years were just not the greatest from sneaking out, to egging house, and all that," Adrían told her.

"Egging houses? You were a little delinquent," Monet smirked.

"That and I hated that teacher," He chuckled.

"And I guess after high school you had to calm down or else your mom would have killed you?" She asked.

"Definitely. She would have had my head if she knew that I was doing that stuff again," He laughed.

"I can believe," Monet smiled, giggling.

The rest of their evening went on without a hitch and the two enjoyed themselves as they ate and talked. Their plan to get to know each other better was a success and they couldn't wait to learn more about each other in the future. They also couldn't wait to go on more and more dates in the very near future too.
