Chapter 6 - Power

"Well that was unfortunate, I didn't even get a chance to explain why I wanted the kid to join up with us. For the rest of you, I assume you don't want to die especially since I can replace you all as easily as I got you to join me, I advise you to listen to why I would prefer to let this kid join up with us," said Jelal as he gave the remaining members of his team a warning.

"This kid used a fire type ability when he was inside the bank which would make sense and would make people think that his ability is fire control. However, right now, he managed to use magma instead of fire. You see, even if anyone becomes as talented as possible with their abilities, they are barely able to cause a significant change to their ability. Something as drastic as turning fire into lava should take at least two decades or more and since he's still a teenager, only the impossible can explain it. I believe this child has the power to control two abilities," said Jelal which brought fear into all the hearts of everyone in the room including Jelal himself as he realised what he had just said. Christopher was truly a sleeping monster.

Realising this, Jelal quickly picked Christopher up from the ground where he had passed out and landed on the floor before taking him elsewhere. Somewhere much more comfortable so that Jelal could make a proposition to Christopher.

"W-Where am I?" Christopher asked himself out loud which alerted Jelal and the others due to them having been keeping a close watch on him.

"Am I dead? Is that why my back feels like it's laying in something soft? How awful. I managed to get myself killed just because a girl wasn't with me. Is there really a more pathetic ending to one's life?" Christopher asked himself while thinking that he was dead.

"Hmm, how intriguing. So you're doing all this villainy because of a single girl? How peculiar. I would like to learn more about this girl and what she specifically did for you to turn out this way," said Jelal as he wanted to learn every possible thing there was to know about Christopher. His hatred for Christopher's ignorance had now turned into an interest to get the double ability wielder to join his side.

"Oh you're still here?! That must mean I'm not dead yet. Damn it all! Just kill me already so I can pass on in peace," said Christopher as he realised that he would be fine with dying since he had already accepted that he was dead as he didn't miss anything or anyone.

"I apologise for the intrusion. However, I infer that you would want to be a villain if you were given the chance right? In all truth, becoming one is much like being born into a high class hero family. You have to be integrated into villain society to be a villain. As you must have realised by now, that's nearly impossible for you since not only do you come from a hero family but the second best one at that. If I was you, I would have given up before I even came here," said Jelal, placing quite the frown on Christopher's face.

"Nevertheless, there are those who have been in that society for so long that they can manage to get you to act like a villain in quite a short amount of time. You also spoke about gaining power through becoming a villain. I can teach you all of that and even let you be a part of my villain squad. In exchange, I want information. This isn't information about your dad or other heroes. The information I want is about you since I want to learn more about my future comrades, so what do you say?" said Jelal as he put up a fake smile while putting his hand forward to Christopher.

Seeing this made Christopher's face light up in pure joy as he couldn't believe that he was one step closer to his goal. This was tremendous as even though Christopher was not all that intelligent, he knew that the first step in anything was the most important one out of all of them and that was what he had just done which made him feel quite accomplished of himself.

"Yes. I would love to be a part of your villain squadron," said Christopher as he kept up a serious tone as he thought that if he acted too childish, he would get kicked out of his squadron.

"There's no need for you to be so formal to me. We're not like heroes, we don't focus on formalities. Our main focus is to become family so that we can rely on each other during our time of need. If we have that, that's all that matters," said Jelal, which brought a sudden realisation to Christopher. That being that villains might not be as bad as the hero society made them out to be.

After having settled that Christopher would be accepted into the villain group, Christopher began to explain what took place the day where he decided to become a villain. He told Jelal how helpless he felt. How there was truly nothing he could do since his father was outranked by a single man and that man's son was taking the girl he loved. It was true hell for Christopher. Something so mundane as feelings for another person were manipulated through social power. It broke all logic itself as feelings were determined by individual interests yet the way it was determined in hero society was based on social status and the ranking of one as a hero. Everything was dictated through numbers and rankings. It has basically become law for everyone to follow those rules and abide by them. Truly a terrifying concept to live by.

"I understand. So you must feel quite angry about what took place. Don't worry though. As a villain, you won't have to abide by any rules that others force on you. All you have to worry about is your freedom and to keep that freedom, you need… power," said Jelal which lit a spark of determination in Christopher's heart.
