Following the suggestion, Carl called one of his father's friends and told him of the situation. The man agreed to help and he will assign someone to do an investigation. "My uncle will get back to us when they find out who is behind all of this so for the mean time calm your mind and focus on our work."
"Alright thank you." Xander nodded, he hoped that whoever was doing this to him will be caught.
The moment that the investigation started, the weird gifts stopped coming but for some reason, he was still unsettled. Though he would focus on their current project during the day, he could still not fall asleep at night. He would only be able to close his eyes at two or three in the morning and now he felt extremely tired every day because of what was happening.
He did not know why someone would be stalking him and that it would have escalated. Xander did not want to deal with a crazy person, especially if that person was resourceful that they were able to find out his contact number and managed to sneak in those gifts.
"Hey, Xander you've been staring at that same page for a long time now. Why don't you go out for a while and walk around to relax your mind? It may help in lifting your mood." Carl suggested after seeing the man being absent minded. He heard Xander sigh before letting go of the document on his hand and massaging his eyes. He remained silent for a while before he decided to do his friend's suggestion.
"I'll leave you for now then. I'll come back later." Xander left and decided to visit the nearby park to have some fresh air. He sat on one of the benches to watch the children who were playing on the grass. He could also see the other people relaxing and having a good time. It was indeed refreshing for him to be out once in a while.
After sitting down for a good while, he stood up and went to buy a souvenir for his sister. Since she like stuffed toys, he chose a brown bear. While holding the bear on the other hand, he was also carrying a take-out food for Carl while taking one last stroll around the lake located at the center of the park.
He was enjoying the scenic view when he felt that something was off. He looked around but saw that nothing was amiss. Xander shook this feeling but he still decided to return early. Then he felt it, there was someone following him. He started to notice it when he got out of the park, the feeling of being watched and followed. In anxiousness, he hastened his steps but the person following him did not stop.
It was weird that someone was following him in broad day light. Their company's building was already in sight and unconsciously his steps became even faster when he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"Mr. Castillo, I have been calling you but it seems that you are in a rush," Mr. Crellac had been frowning while looking at him. He noticed the man and called out to him but Xander seemed to have not heard him so he went after him and stopped him.
Before answering, Xander looked behind Mr. Crellac and saw that there was actually no one suspicious there. "I'm sorry. I did not notice you Mr. Crellac." He sighed and composed himself then gave the man a smile.
Antonio's frown deepened and he also looked behind him but saw that nothing amiss just some ordinary people who were walking towards their destination. "Did something happen?" He asked with concern.
He could only shake his head, "It's nothing. I must have been imagining things. Are you going to ENIGMA?" He immediately changed the topic.
Sensing that he would not say more, Antonio decided to let the topic go. "Ah yes, I was going there to talk to Architect Villegas about the interior design and lay-out of the gallery."
"I understand. I'll join the both of you then since I have something to tell you also about the structural design of the gallery." Xander nodded then both of them walked to the company. They met with Carl who was in the lobby to wait for Mr. Crellac.
While talking about the project, Xander forgot about the incident. They were so focused that the three of them did not notice the time and by the time they were finished, night had already come.
"Why don't we go for a dinner first?" Mr. Crellac suggested when he saw that it was already night time. Carl immediately agreed and so did Xander, they were hungry from all the talking and thinking they did.
Amber has just closed her eyes to rest for a short while after dealing with a lot of papers when she suddenly felt a tingling sensation that had woken her up. Then she heard her wolf suddenly speaking, "Our mate is anxious. This is the first time that I felt this emotion."
'Zael come to my office now.' The order was prompted by what her wolf's words and to ease both of their minds, they needed to know how Xander was doing.
Zael was startled when he heard his Alpha's voice. In record time, he reached Amber's office and entered without even knocking. "What is it Alpha?" he looked around but there was nothing wrong inside.
"What are you looking at?" Amber gave the man a cold glare. He was about to answer but the Alpha did not give him the chance. "Did Xander call you today?" she directly asked without blinking and Zael was rendered speechless. He thought that it was an emergency based on his Alpha's tone but it was only because she was missing her mate.
A playful grin appeared on his face then he wiggled his brows at the Alpha, "Did you miss him? You should call him personally and asked him if he is alright. It's a bit difficult to be a bridge and I've got other things to do."
The remark made the Alpha annoyed, "Stop talking nonsense if you don't want to have my share of that work you are saying." She gestured to the stacks of papers on her table. Zael's eyes followed Amber's gaze and gulped at how tall the stacks were.
He let out an awkward smile and vigorously shook his head, "I'm okay with my current work Alpha and to answer your question, Xander has not called yet. If he ever calls, I will inform you immediately."
Amber did not answer and only gave him a nod before motioning with her hand. Zael did not stay any longer then left towards his office. He shivered at how the Alpha had acted, she was extremely out of mood. Perhaps, something had happened. Having the foresight, he called the warrior he sent to guard and monitor Xander.
"How is Xander?" he asked the warrior after the call was connected. The warrior diligently reported and the contents of his report shocked Zael. It was the matter of the stalker who had been disturbing Xander. "Why are you telling me this now?" he could not control his voice at the warrior's report. Xander's safety was their priority because if something happens to him, their Alpha could go berserk anytime. A small injury could already incite their Alpha and if a greater disaster befalls him then he could not imagine what the Alpha would do.
"Have they solved the problem?" it was imperative that they find a solution to this matter before the Alpha finds about it.
"Not yet but Xander's friend had already helped him. I believe that they had made arrangements with some investigators already." The warrior answered, although he did not hear everything. He was sure that they had taken measures to make sure that the stalker will not be able to do anything again.
"That's good but still keep an eye on him and be alert. If you can catch the stalker then better, you can hand him to the police personally." It was not Zael's style to hold back but since the humans were involved, that was the best they can do. "Keep me updated. Every detail should be reported to me, understand?"
"Yes, sir. I'll keep you posted." With the new order, the warrior started to pay more attention on Xander's surrounding in order to prevent any incident happening to him.
Zael ended the call then rubbed his head. Then he thought of the Xander's new number. 'This must be the reason why he suddenly changed his number. Haah, why do dangerous things keep popping up anywhere?' he silently asked himself when he received another call.
"Alpha Gidou, I am glad to hear from you again." The man who called was the Alpha of Yulian, for the past months they had let Ceurian take their young ones under their protection while they were recuperating from the rogue attack.
"Yes, it's been a while since we were busy with finishing up here so I called to inform you that I will be taking back my pack members in a week's time." He was grateful that Ceurian existed and they helped them but it was already time for them to return since they can't continue to lean on Ceurian for the rest of their lives.
"I understand. I will inform the Alpha and your pack about this and congratulations on successfully restoring your pack, Alpha Gidou." He sincerely greeted the Alpha. What happened to them was not pleasant but they still managed to get back up.
After the call, Zael returned to the Alpha's office to report on what Alpha Gidou had said. "He told me that they will come after a week to take them home."
Amber nodded, "Good. At least that woman will be gone here when Xander returns." She did not even spare a glance at the Beta who was looking at her strangely.
"Woman? What woman?" he was overcome with curiosity that he even leaned forward on the table to try and probe the Alpha of information.
"Get out and that is not of your business." Zael flinched after hearing how cold Amber's voice was so he retracted his body and stood straight to bid the Alpha goodbye.
"Tsk, how moody." He mumbled to himself while closing the door and with a werewolf's hearing, Amber heard what he had said. She stopped writing for a moment before continuing again like nothing happened.
