People who were just passing by stopped walking and could not help but look at the person who spoke such bold words. She was wearing something formal like any other businesswoman in the area and she was not even wearing high heels but her presence was too domineering for people to ignore.
No one can't ignore this woman who was walking towards them with firm strides and with her head held high. Her gaze never wavered and she did not even spare the clinging woman a look since her focus was on the man beside her.
Xander had a shock expression while Thalia who was clinging to him looked at Amber with narrowed eyes. Amber stopped just a few inches away from them and gave them both a smile which made Thalia uncomfortable but she hid it quickly like she was not affected at all.
"Who are you? How dare you claim Xander to be your husband! I'm the only person who can call him that because our marriage has been arranged!" Amber commended her for standing up against her but looking at how uncomfortable Xander was when this woman was clinging to him revealed everything to her. He was not pleased at all.
"Is it? I never heard this kind of thing from Xander, I wonder if it is true." Her smile did not disappear and appeared to be sweeter but in Xander's eyes, it was not an amiable smile. He could tell that she was already irritated.
"Why aren't you speaking Xander? Tell this woman that we are going to get married soon!" she looked up at the man with her pitiful eyes and expected him to agree to her and defend her from the woman who suddenly appeared out of nowhere but to her disappointment, Xander was not looking at her and instead his eyes were on the other woman.
"How come you're here? Why didn't you inform me beforehand that you were coming?" His voiced softened and gone was the man who was holding his annoyance a while ago. Xander pulled his arms from Thalia's grasp and moved forward to meet Amber then he smiled.
"Because it was supposed to be a surprise but instead, I am the one who was surprised. I didn't know that you were engaged." Her gazed shifted to the pouting woman behind Xander and narrowed her eyes while looking at her from head to toe.
"Don't worry, it was only a joke. There will be no marriage happening. She's only a junior from university and she came to visit." There was not much reaction to his face as he remained calm while facing the woman who was truly irritated right now. If he did not want to face her anger, he should immediately deny everything that Thalia had said until now.
Amber was pleased at that response then she turned and gave the fuming woman a smirk, "Is that so, then I'm glad."
Carl suddenly whistled after hearing that conversation. He did not think that Xander would be able to say those words in the presence of Thalia when he refused to talk when the woman was endlessly pestering him in the past. He would silently endure and put up with it even though he really did not want to be in the same room or breath the same air as that spoilt woman.
"Well, you can continue talking here in the lobby or you can take this up in your office since we are disturbing the peace of our employees." He interrupted since there were more and more people who were spectating the fuss.
Xander came back to his senses and gave Carl a nod before he spoke to Amber again, "Let's go up. We can have a seat and talk there." He moved to the side and gestured with his hand for Amber to follow him but instead of complying, Amber took the initiative to hold his hand.
"Alright, I'm good with that." She then smiled and pulled him forward leaving them behind. Elder Leonides who was standing behind the Alpha and witnessed the standoff could not help but feel a little bit embarrassed and silently followed them.
"Hey! I was here first! You can't just ignore me like this, Xander!" Thalia was furious and stomped towards them but before she can reach them, she was pulled by Carl. "Hey what are you doing?" she slapped Carl hands away.
"Woah, woah, woah," he stepped back while raising both of his hands. "Why are you so violent? I'm just sparing you from the heartbreak. Do you really want to join them and witness their sweetness?"
"Shut up! I will go there to prevent them from doing so." She turned around and tried to catch up to them but the elevator had already closed so without a choice she used the other elevator to follow them.
Once they arrived at the top floor, Xander greeted his secretary who went up first. "Hello Lillian, I will be entertaining guests in my office. Please don't let anyone enter without my permission." He immediately instructed, though curios Lillian did not ask any questions and gave a nod.
"Ah, I will be staying here. I will let you and milady talk alone." Leonides gave the both of them a meaningful smile. Amber nodded while Xander avoided his gaze in embarrassment.
"Then I will show you the lounge," Lillian stepped forward followed by the elder.
Xander opened the door to his office and let Amber in. "Let's have a seat. Lillian will bring us some refreshment."
Amber watched his back before she eventually pulled his arm and a resounding 'thud' echoed inside the spacious office. It was something classic but at that moment Xander's attention was on her. He did not understand himself but the moment he saw her walking towards them a while ago, his heart started to beat faster. This woman whom he had not seen for a long time still had this kind of effect to him, no she has greater effect on him now.
Xander's back was on the wall while Amber had both of her hands on either side of Xander's head. Though she was a bit shorter than him, he could feel the pressure from the woman. Her eyes that had turned gold were looking at Xander's with intensity that he had not seen before.
"You are mine. All of you are mine. No other woman can have you because I won't hesitate to kill anyone who dares to lay claim on you." She was not happy that another person was claiming him as hers. He was her mate, no one and nothing can change that fact. She was glad that the other woman who was eyeing him was not gone in Ceurian, now someone was eyeing him once again. It was unacceptable.
"Please calm down, Amber." Xander did his best to remain calm when he finally came to his senses at the current situation. He was not happy to be pushed and be trapped by this woman but there was nothing he could do against a werewolf's strength. He lifted his hand and gently touched her cheek. It was a gamble because he was not sure if it could calm her down.
Amber closed her eyes as she felt the heat coming from him. She and her wolf missed him so much. "I have missed you so much." Her soft voice was like a feather touching his heart because like her, he admitted that he had missed her too. Even though he was not ready to admit it yet loudly, she had become a special person to him.
As she opened her eyes and met his, she suddenly grinned then hugged him tightly. "Amber's a little shy so I'll take the initiative to cling to you while we are here."
Xander was a bit confused for a moment before he remembered that Amber had her wolf called Eirian. "Are you perhaps Eirian?"
"Yes! I'm glad that you did not forget about me!" she let go for a moment to give her mate a smile. "This is the first time that we would be able to talk like this," then hugged him again.
"Yes, it is." Xander could not stop himself from smiling. He then came up to a sudden conclusion, Eirian was a little bit different from Amber and if Amber would know what was on his mind, she would surely be amused because although her wolf acts cute like a child, she was more vicious than her.
"Xander!" the door to the office burst open with a raging Thalia who entered with large strides.
"Miss, please the CEO doesn't receive any guests for now," Lillian was on her tail trying to stop her from entering further. She stopped beside the woman who was suddenly frozen on her spot while looking at a particular direction.
"Oh, well, well, well," Carl whistled as he saw what made Thalia froze. He was following after the woman and they all entered the office only to see Xander leaning on the wall with Amber was hugging him tightly. What's surprising was that, Xander was also hugging her in return.
With no further ado, Carl pulled Thalia out of the office as they went towards the lounge where the elder who was with Amber was relaxing. He did not spare them any glance and continued to enjoy his coffee and the sumptuous food in front of him.
"How dare that woman!" Thalia raged after she regained her composure. She turned around and wanted to return to pull that woman away from Xander but Carl did not let her.
"Will you stop this already. You very well know that Xander has no feelings for you. He only sees you as a junior. Can you at least leave some respect for yourself? Are you really going there to be humiliated again?" Carl had a frown on his face. He was already tired of this person who was spoiled and no tact like everything was hers. "Stop causing trouble."
